Titus & Co, Amarchand Mangaldas, Trilegal and Luthra & Luthra have reached the semi-finals of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) – Khushal T-20 cricket tournament after defeating their rivals in four quarter final matches played over Saturday and Sunday (20 and 21 March).
Highs and lows of the quarter finals were scored in the matches played between Luthra & Luthra against Bhasin & Co and Titus & Co against Lall & Sethi.
Luthra & Luthra thrashed Bhasin & Co with a stupendous 266 for a loss of 4 wickets, in what has been the highest score of the tournament so far. Bhasin was all out for 100 and its star player Rajat Mathur could only amass 34 runs.
Luthra player Hitesh Tara was declared man of the match for his 119 not out in 54 balls and for taking 3 wickets for 30 runs.
Luthra's opening bowler and associate Sachit Mathur said: "We had a beautiful batting performance in the last match against Bhasin. Our starting was really phenomenal."
"The level of teams has improved over the last two years," he noted, but added: "We are really confident as we have been practicing hard; we have also scheduled practice for this entire week. There is no strategy, we're just practicing hard and that's it. We'll play to the best of our potential and are hopeful of winning this tournament."
Meanwhile team Titus bowled out opponents Lall & Sethi in a one-sided match that lasted less than an hour. A total of 12 overs were played by both the teams; Lall & Sethi was all out after scoring 27 runs in 11 overs, which Titus chased in 7 balls.
Titus player Raj Kamal was announced man of the match for taking five wickets for six runs.
Winners of the first and fourth quarter finals, Luthra & Luthra and Titus & Co will now be pitted against each other in the semi-finals scheduled for the coming Saturday.
Organisers and audience alike have viewed both these semi-finalists as very strong teams, and the winner of this semi-final will be a strong favourite to take the cup home.
Amarchand Mangaldas and Trilegal are the other two semi-finalist teams to vie for the final spot as they play each other this Saturday.
Amarchand defeated Kochhar & Co after setting up a target of 166 runs in 19.4 overs in the first innings. Kochhar could manage only 145 in reply.
Vaibhav Mishra won the man of the match title for making 55 runs of 39 balls. He also took 1 wicket.
In the third quarter final match Trilegal won against Anand & Anand.
Anand & Anand batted first to score 98 runs before the team was bowled out by Trilegal. In response, Trilegal successfully chased 102 for a loss of 3 wickets in 9.2 overs.
Captain Yogesh Singh was again declared man of the match for 23 not out and taking 4 wickets for 21 runs.
"It's a relief to break the quarter finalist's jinx. One of our strengths has been our non-reliance on individual performances, rather a team effort has kept us afloat and all our players have responded superbly," commented Singh. "It takes some effort to achieve that, especially towards the end of the financial year."
He added: "AMSS is a good team with similar strengths so it should be an interesting match. Our strategy remains unchanged – play well and enjoy the game."
The two semi-final matches will be played on 27 March in Gyan Bharati School followed by the final the next day.

its now a cake for tri & AMMS to reach final.........
i guess whoeva betwn titus & luthra wins, shal strt celebratin frm saturdy onwards only for the trophy.....
Luthra had posted the highest total of the tournament against Bhasin and
Titus had bowled out the Lall & Sethi at the lowest score of the tournament....
Both teams are equally strong...and its gonna be a hell of a match..
i wud say its a must watch match....
All the best to Both the teams...
It's worth mentioning that Trilegal has 2 partners playing - one is a very good keeper, and other one is an equally good fielder and opening batsman, which is certainly rare (for any firm) in this tournament. Besides, Trilegal has bowled well in last 3 games, which is their strength - going forward. Their batting was never under any pressure apart from the 1st game in which they made more than 150 against Luthra, so suffice to say that Trilegal can also bat.
Trilegal v Amss could be an interesting match, so let's wait and see!
The people who deserve to be in the semi finals are those who won their quarters. Those who deserve to be in the finals will be those who win their semis. And untimately those who deserve to be in the tournament are those who play their own lawyers and employees.
Cebebrating on Saturday? Place in correct order. chickens. hatched. count. don't. your. have. they. before.

he should know what all is most satisfying and enjoyable...............
if we make a list of 100 most satisfying and enjoyable avctivities, spending time with a pretty girl will be one of top 5 activities, while watching cricket will be nowhere in 100....................
even though I am a big fan of cricket, while i would watch cricket in free time, I will go to spend time with a pretty girl anytime keeping aside all my worries.............
We condemn such atrocious comments against any law firm. We have great regard for Luthra & Luthra as a law firm as well as their cricket team. Hope the best team wins tomorrow. All the Best.
come and play with the best of the cricketing abilities and skills....put up a great contest and make it the Match of the Tournament.....cheers !!!
Let's put all ego's and alter ego's aside and limit this contest to cricket.....a fanastic game which we all love......
#43 & 44: That's the way to approach this tournament.......Request 43 to teach some sense to 42.......whosoever will play better, will win......but whosoever will lose, heavens are not going to fall upon him.......its a game of cricket and should remain that......this tournament is for promotion of interaction between lawfirm lawyers and not any kind of enemity between two firms or for that matter, between/amongst lawyers......42: please grow up and learn something from 43......he must be a very sensible guy and your senior......
[You are right, the earlier comment re: Titus removed, as it was inappropriate. -Ed]
The match could have been played in a sense of sportsmanship which did not happen... Luthra had the last laugh... I again vouch for Luthra! Hats off guys... Its sure that once outsiders Raj and Saurabh are out... team Titus stands no chance!! Hows it #42 laaton ke bhoot... or whatever!!
So guys, life is full of surprises............life is so unpredictable..........And life sometime can be cruel also............Titus team has been the victim of that very moment............
Its a small world and smaller legal fraternity...lets put our energy into something constructive and make our individual careers rocking...... few years down the line, none of these wins or losses would matter for any one of us on an individual basis.....lets not add to egos of our managing partners...they don't bother about you once you leave their firm and join another....
