NLIU Bhopal and NLU Delhi are the only law schools among seven institutes empanelled by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to carry out initial competition assessment of economic bills and legislation referred to the competition watchdog.
The CCI selected the institutes based on a sample competition assessment of an economic legislation, submitted by interested applicants by 20 November 2015.
The CCI notified on its website:
“In terms of the Competition Commission of India (Competition Assessment of Legislations and Bills) Guidelines, 2015, the Competition Commission of India (Commission) proposed to maintain a Panel of 5-7 reputed institutions to carry out initial competition assessment of the economic legislations /bills referred to them. Accordingly, it invited expression of interest, along with a sample competition assessment of an economic legislation, from eligible institutions by 31st October, 2015, which was extended to 20th November, 2015. Based on evaluation of the samples of competition assessment submitted by institutions, the Commission has empanelled the following institutions.”
The other selected institutes are IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy Delhi, CUTS International Jaipur and the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research Mumbai.
