I’m asking this because I read all these posts on LI saying associates must buy big brands to fit in when they start work!
As to the process to become AP, finish your PhD ASAP. Ideally, don't take up jobs before third year of PhD. And publish in SCOPUS journals. Yes, there are too many people and too little vacancies and wherever you apply, people with PhD and Scopus publications are applying.
But that’s just my opinion
This behaviour demeans our profession and damages the name of Advocates in society.
As I've never stayed alone, first time I'll be going to other city for an internship. All my previous firm people used to carry tiffin. How did you guys have your lunch
CAM, SAM and Trilegal (across offices*) have difficult folks.

Work life balance - None. Every place is same. Relatively SCAM and Trilegal would come at last.
Quality- CAM>SAM>Indus=SnR> Others (the difference in quality is very less in top 3 firms, afterwards it too much)
It has reached a point where I am struggling to cover my basic necessities such as rent, groceries, and transportation.
When would be a good time to switch to a T2/T3 firm from a lesser-known firm with low pay? Additionally, which firms are currently hiring, and what reason should I give for making such an early switch?
2. Always insecure about you working with others
3. Calls and emails at inappropriate times to discuss future course of action everyday
4. Undue pressure on you to turn around deliverables with an inability to push back clients even slightly
5. Work from office: you have to be present in front of them everyday for them to think you are working during working hours
6. Tell you about how horrible other bosses/firms are
1. deal structures
2. how to do due diligence
3. How to draft SHA/SPA and other deal documents
4. deal compliances
If you can learn these 4 things (even if 1 or 2 out of these to be honest) it will give you significant advantage in your internships
I will not name the course to avoid unnecessary arguments here - you will find it easily if you are smart
But remember - those are the 4 areas where you need to gain knowledge and hands of experience over time if you are trying to land this sort of a job
