2. faculty is poor in comparison to tier 2 nlus, at par with nfsu, net is compulsory but phd is not, no dean, treated like mba in nalsar
3. this is the only silver lining, the internship opportunities in companies are plentiful, they have an internship cell under the mba and bba guys, whether they are able to convert them to placement is another story
LLM from Bennett or similar private law colleges is a bad idea.
Is it only through contacts/Networks?
Do they hire In-house people with 1-2 years exp

One option I am looking at are bone conduction headphones that you can even use while swimming (I swim regularly). The below product by Sony looks affordable. but will they cancel out the gym music when I use them at the gym?
https://www.sony.com/ug/electronics/walkman/nw-ws410-series
Would really appreciate some help here. FYI I have requested the gym owner to mute their music, but the gym owner rudely refused to (▮▮▮).
Tks.
Another big problem with NLS is that we cant intern as much as other NLUs like NUJS, GNLU. We have only 4 internship breaks max. Sure it is easier for us to get a PPO (because bias) but if you screw up one assessment internship, you have to rely on Day Z. So a lot of ppl depend on Day Z.
The RCC has done great so far. We only hope most of us get placed somewhere T.T
NLS really takes advantage of their name man. Should have studied for CLAT lmaooo
Radio silence from other NLUs about this, when they try and co pare themselves with NLSIU.
Back in the day NLS used to enjoy Day Zeros. Many students used to end up with multiple offers some even got offers from English Solicitors firms, Mckinsey etc.
That's going to be over with JGLS like Batch sizes which Sudheer made.
Like IN JGLS you will still have placements. But maybe 60/500 will get any decent offers.
I’ve been through this phase, and I seem have to similar thought process as you OP - so I will try and share some helpful tips.
Yes, in a big city, 1 lac is nothing. Like you I had only calculated MY living expenses, and I was under constant mental pressure that even after getting placed in a Tier 1 firm, I couldn’t save enough or live a decent life. (To others - What is enough, what is decent life - very subjective)
Single occupancy - I valued my privacy and I didn’t want to compromise on this. In Mumbai this was my biggest fixed cost expense. Most people who are suggesting to share a room - either have no idea about the kind of shitty PG and rooms offered by brokers, or are ones who are still in college phase and don’t know how to live like a decent adult. I’ve lived with those “chill” guys and it was one of the worst experiences of my life - constantly ordering Blinkit and Swiggy, packets strewn everywhere on the floor, food parcels on sofa, dress always smelling. Thankfully, I was able to move out in 2 months.
Side effects of staying in decent place with high rent: On weekends you will try not to go out, as you are already paying so much in rent, you want to mentally justify spending more time there, as on weekdays you hardly stay at home + cost of going out in Mumbai is expensive
When your local colleagues suddenly ask you to tag along on a Friday night to a fancy restaurant, you will start questioning your budget calculation or outright refuse at the cost of appearing rude.
You will try to cut down on food/ going out because the fixed cost of EXISTING in Mumbai is already so high - this will take a toll on your mental health as you really need to go out after a hectic week at work.
TIP 1 - As unreasonable as it sounds, please don’t try to SAVE in your first 4-5 months. You are living on your own and managing everything on your own, you will have lot of unexpected expenses - if you try calculating all of them, you will be extremely stressed.
TIP 2 - The 60-30-10 rule or other finance frameworks of saving - THEY DONT WORK in Mumbai. It’s a good starting point to think about expenses, saving and leisure, but if you try to save like that, you’ll end up in a slum, and there will other headaches you don’t want to deal with. You’re in a new city, your focus should be on getting a stable base and excelling at work.
TIP 3 - Most financial influencers/ well wishers will start giving advice about saving. But here is a more important pre condition - LEARN TO SPEND first. Yes, you need to spend a bit to understand what your needs and wants are. You’re in a new city, and you need to spend money on new things to gain exposure. Else you will be stuck trying to budget everything and not go out of your comfort zone. You’re in Mumbai, you want to attend the comedy nights at Juhu, attend the Steps carnival in Bandra, visit Subko for a coffee session, expand your social circle or even travel to a free art exhibition in Sassoon Docks - things you probably wouldn’t do back home. You will probably over spend n first 2-3 months, but soon you will rein yourself in and get a sense of your actual spending pattern.
All the best! Hope Mumbai is kind to you.
They [and not the other partner(s) in their team, have the right to hire etc. correct?]
In any case, it’s completely inappropriate for bosses to do this, whether they are cool or whether they are old-fashioned.
Men are constantly sizing each other up, insulting each other, questioning each other, competing for everything, pushing everyone to their limits - they just don't do this with women - thats all
This is not considered toxic by men who grew up in a masculine environment - for them it is a fact of life
Its women or perhaps men raised in a mostly feminine environment where they were only nurtured but not challenged by other boys or men would think like this
