And I didn't say senior counsels prefer ex corp lawyers, I meant people with an exceptional record / people who have briefed them etc.
Also I have heard my peers saying that itβs better to join corp law firms before getting to litigation atleast for 1/2 years. And senior counsels usually prefer freshers having work experiences from corp firms. Please help me with this doubt.
Any advice or suggestions to new lawyers who are just starting out in their litigation career. Any guidance on this would be appreciated!
Thank you !
Please post HSF acceptances/rejections for the next stage here. Linklaters assessment day invites are already out. Kindly do not that spam that here.
All the best to everyone who has passed the benchmark online test for HSF. Thank you.
Heard from seniors at NUJS that the son of a well know Cal HC advocate who may have served as PP or GP in HC during Left rule was the beneficiary of merit-cum-need scholarship. The father came from an illustrious line of lawyers, judges; was financially well-off (Durga Puja in their house saw a steady stream of high and mighty from Cal HC).
This NUJS alum's near relatives were HC and SC judges. All those "connections" helped him. He is close to a certain ASG in SC and it remains to be seen whether he will switch political jerseys.
This alum isn't important. Point is how did he "manage" the scholarship, which would also reveal how the policy of scholarships, fin assistance etc is actually practiced by theVCs and their cabal of petty officials and teach.
Thatβs how universities abroad work. They admit rich kids to pay full fee, and they use that money provide scholarships and waivers to poor students.
Are NLUs for those who can afford it?
Exams, assignments, etc everything stops mattering. No stress and anxiety.
BUT, now since you are completely idle for 12 months (in my case 1 year ago)- you get frustrated, anxious, super bored. Let me tell you that none of the distractions like gaming, TV shows, books will help. Travel might but if you're rich enough to travel abroad or something.
Till you join, there is a gaping hole in your life. It's like a big fear of missing out because you see other people working, interning, studying and you basically just need to pass your exams. My days mostly went sleeping, watching shows, reading books and doing house chores (BORING).
Light feel hota hain but kuch din me sab normal ho jaata h lekin neend achi aati hain.
I bought xbox immediately after getting placed. Bhut maja aaya 4 months jum k khela nd now I'm about to join the firm.
I would be really helpful for me pls.
My advice would be to build good habits before starting Tier I job and have as much fun/travel.
What good habits?
Regular Physical Exercise, Emotional Support System, Personal & Professional CRM (law firm can be isolating and you need to grow your network on your own.)
What should i prepare for it ? what to expect ?
how to apply for it ? what are the chances of getting hired in disputes teams? where to look for openings ?
work culture is chill. no sir/ ma'am culture. everyone is friendly.
Litigation and disputes team works long hours and other teams like Gen corp have less working hours compared to litigation team
salary is 1 lakh pm for freshers
reimbursed for working after 9 pm like food or cab ride home.
All interns are paid 3k for a month. inyern are taken from all years- 4th / 5th years get assessment internships , purely based on performance and presentation/ interview - definitely not based on clg - however too many ppl from Jindal/ GLC ? NMIMS/ - everyone got in mostly through ppo

Quit smoking slowly after the polish, feel much better now (which surely did improve my confidence)!
Dr Singhvi also tweeted his pictures from the wedding.
You know the quality of work is good by sending and getting feedback and working on it and sending again. Ask your seniors to review your work if youβre hesitant.
Can someone from different college sit in the placement drive of different college by any chance?
I wanted to know this because my college is not offering any placements right now.
@moderators please mod it fast.
Anyone has any experience/idea in dealing with them? Cold email?
Then again the Amazon mess by the co-founder at P&A was so bad. Guess no lessons were learnt.
Also it is interesting that the other two P&A partners (ex-NUJS) who too jumped (or made to jump?) the ship, did not join Svarniti. Both these men were rehabilitated in P&A at partnership level by this co-founder.
