NLU gyms = Bajaj scooter
Harsh but true. The more money you spend on student infra the better your gym will be. Most NLU gyms have two broke-ass treadmills, one broke-ass bike and a few dumbbells, which are the only things of use and not damaged. But then just doing bicep curls is not enough for overall fitness: even girls wonβt be impressed with only biceps if the rest of your body is too thin or too fat.
See jindal in comparison, one small gym for the entire campus
Hostel gyms (girls and boys) were vandalised by former students and converted into a common ac dorm room.
I am a civil judge from the south and CS qualified lawyer with an LLM from Kings college. I am planning to leave my post as a judge as itβs very hectic and toxic. I am planning to move to Delhi to pursue white collar crime (any decent firm). Despite 2 years of experience as a judge, I also have 2 years of experience practising insolvency, tax, corporate law at a CS firm and under a senior advocate. I was hoping with my unique blend of experiences, I could be an asset for white collar crime litigation for any decent firm in Delhi. However, I would like to know if this plan seems feasible enough to be pursued. Any thoughts are appreciated
DU LLB students, on the other hand, rarely get such offers. The batch size is higher, and even the top 5% have sometimes found it difficult to get into law firms that pay more than 12LPA. The majority of the batch ends up joining litigators who pay less than 30-40k per month. The placement cell is practically defunct and does not have direct arrangements/relations with the HRs of most law firms - which you'll find at HNLU, so that at least the toppers could get direct slots for internships. People at HNLU have scored direct slots for assessment internships at most T1s and higher-paying T2s like S&R in recent years, being able to convert them into PPOs with just one internship. In DU, you have to reach out to alumni yourself and keepon following through for favourable outcomes for just internships, and even assessment internships are only rarely secured through far more hard work.
So, if you want to have a higher probability of having a higher-paying job at famous firms, purely based on statistics, HNLU is a much better option.
But if you are so confident of your work ethic and contacts/future academic performance that you're sure of performing great in both academics and internships and building your own set of referrals and mentor-relationships to eventually land a good job from anywhere, then yes, DU LLB costs far lesser and is centrally located, so it makes more sense to go there.
But all I see after few years (1-5)in law firm is lit, inhouse, judiciary, UPSC, LLM and acad, LLM and foreign law firm, or get out of law altogether through an MBA. Apart from last (MBA) and first (lit), I see very limited options. Are there good number of vacancies in in-house, in other words do most law firm dropouts take up in-house?
Overall, academia is a great career, if you have sufficient drive you will defintiely get placed in a top NLU, there are very few NLU graduates who have done LLM and PhD and have not got a teaching job (if they were looking for one).
Colleges like Dsnlu, rml and nuals would be the ones that get a good grip on 6lpa packages. Hnlu, nluo, rgnul give a lot of 10 and above. This comes from a senior who said this is their University based pay deferential. It was a T2 and they paid me 6.5 but I was told people from some unis earn lesser and some more so this is what I think it is.
Why do disputes teams of big law firms (AZB, Cyril Amarchand) etc are working out of Noida office which is far away from all courts and tribunals.

There are various NLU alumni and students who are volunteering for the Congress, AAP and TMC in this election. That's fine, but please verify before you tweet, guys! π The Modi govt will arrest you at the first opportunity, so don't given them a chance.
To anyone who is interested: Try to find out more on those lines if you're interested in a calcutta based career.
Because at some point itβs going to hurt when you see your batchmates driving BMWs, wearing Omega watches and throwing parties at the Taj, whereas you are stuck in a lower income bracket. π
Anyone having access to them can post them here. β¬οΈππ½
