I'm a 19 y.o, 2nd yr ba llb (1 month into 4th sem) first gen law student with no reliable connections from a pvt University. (it's expensive and I'm from a middle class- kinda upper middle class family). I struggle with sm mental issues like mood swings, depression, anxiety and escaping reality on daily basis which also impacts my routine and daily tasks, even doing the most basic tasks sometimes requires efforts. My parents are not aware of this. I also deal with suicidal thoughts on almost daily basis but I am not at a stage where I will actually try to commit. Most of the depressive thoughts actually come in from thinking about law as a career, spent money on my degree so far and my future in law. Prior to prepping for comp exams for law colleges, I did have some intrest in law but I have always been the artistic kinda person, I'm very much into designing things ever since I was a kid and I do that in my free time rn. I did hv the same mental issues back then but I was DEFINITELY happier before college, I chose law as a career by my own free will but the descision was also influenced by my mom. She suggested and tried to make me interested in the field but she was very much aware of my intrest in art and other fields like psychology. I obviously did not perform well in CLAT and opted for the pvt uni route(not a great descision cause lowkey they be all scamming). College life has not been difficult till now, getting my desired Cgpa till now has not been difficult and I have friends as well. I'm stressed about my family's finances all the time because I feel guilty that they are paying so much for something I'm not enjoying at all. They are trying to keep me comfortable and everything and on the surface level is looking fine and dandy but everyday my mental state is just getting worse. I wanna cry almost everyday because I m in constant doubt and I'm am not able to imagine myself working in this field, it's demanding and doesn't suit my interests, lifestyle and personality. I'm constantly seeing people quitting after working for like 1 yr in T1 law firms, even NLU folks , and having all kinds of horrible experiences in this field. The subjects by themselves aren't terrible and I find them intresting to sm extent but this career is just something which isn't looking like something I will be able to survive. Should I drop out and pursue something else or should I suck it up and finish my degree as these are just merely normal insecurities that everyone goes through, is it like a non NLU student insecurity thing. And if I should change my degree, what and how do I tell my parents. Idk wat to do to make myself feel better right now. Starting over looks very difficult right now as I'm not sure what else I would even do if I drop out, I have wasted a lot of time and resources pursuing smthing which I cannot even see myself doing in the long run.

hi, im starting an internship at JSA, gurugram in feb 2026. this will be my first tier 1 internship, so im a bit nervous.
- could somebody please brief me on the work culture - how are teams assigned, work allocation, procedure for taking leaves etc.
- i want to secure a PPO, for the same i wanted to know - how do i impress them and get a callback internship offer? I desperately need to secure a job before graduation; any and all advise/suggestion would be a huge favour to me.

Assuming you are conforming to common practice of legal citation in India, there is a difference between how Indian and English lawyers tend to write. Just that an English lawyer would have said something along the lines of, "Judgment of Gavai J (as he then was) in [etc etc]". The "(as he then was)" is, per my understanding, a relatively common feature of British legal writing.

Are you jealous that Tier 2/Tier 3 and newcomers in general are giving a hard time to the gatekeepers of the noble legal profession.

I don't know why people obsess over Tier 1 firms like they are their buddies and have their best interests at heart.

Tier 1 firms are no doubt amazing but can we pls for god's sake stop this god complex disease in this profession.

Does anyone know what the pay at IC Regfin's Delhi office is like? I know that it's Burgeon Law that has now merged with them, but since there's a vast difference in pay between both these places (IC Reg starting with 20+ LPA and Burgeon barely 6 LPA), have they updated the pay at the Delhi office. Also, if anyone has insights on the work culture, please share that too.

I have personally met people working in relatively ▮▮▮ teams, telling me how much better their life has been since they left Spice. Everyone working in or connected with people in TMT know that they have a really really poor culture. They fire people without any considerations, stall bonuses which the▮▮▮y ▮▮▮, ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ and expect unreasonable working hours, have revoked offer letters and even ghosted college placement committees' internship applications which they themselves requested. There are multiple threads on this very platform attesting to all of these incidents, and unless you have absolutely no option and desperately need something, I'd strongly advise against it.

No salaryslips given by my previous litigation office (of an aor). The salary was inconsistent and at times I was paid in cash. I had asked my senior in the office about the same, even he does not get salaryslips. I left the office to relocate to another city, where i have a few interviews lined up in non-litigation offices. However, I was given an experience letter by the office.

Will i be asked to show my salaryslips? How should I go about telling them that my office never gave me the slips? Can anyone give me any solutions?

A friend had worked there. One of those firms which is a one man show with no actual transferable work. Sure, big ish clientele and good money (for the partner), but no actual transferability or credibility in the market and difficult to switch given the random nature of work. Partner is rude and says the most atrocious and unhinged stuff. Can be tried if financial constraints are there and nothing else is working out.
