I want to go to law school since job security won't be an issue in legal profession (and also my father is a lawyer at a rural district court). Should I choose IIT KGP's LLB or write CLAT? I think that since I already have a technical education and understand law fairly well (better than most nlu kids who don't know much about computers and all before entering college). I am from a t2 nlu batch of 2026. I’ve done a bunch of decent internship but somehow nothing has worked out for me, despite good feedback. I’m coming to realise that I might end up not getting a job, and it’s put me in a very bad place mentally. I’ve mostly only done disputes internships, but if im being honest that hasn’t hindered with my prospects. Regardless, I don’t want to end up depressed and unemployed and that person w decent prospects and potential, but somehow jobless.

PPO is your best way forward. try for firms like trilegal, s&r (if you consider that t1) or even kco that don’t care about your marks but only your work. SAM and CAM are out of the picture realistically speaking, they are very rank centric. Start interning at these firms 3rd year second sem break onwards, no sooner (hiring issues) or later (you won’t be able to accommodate call backs. I have noticed a sad pattern amongst advocates who run their own chambers. They have stopped hiring clerks in their offices and have started moving/ firing the existing clerk from their offices (excluding the extremely experienced clerks who can get the register work done like no other) I am specifically talking about an average clerk in which category 60-70% of the clerks fall.

The pattern I am noticing is that they rather prefer fresh associates without any experience as they can do both register work and research, drafting "in the same salary". In my humble opinion, the reasons are: 1) you are getting a researcher drafter and clerk in the same salary. 2) a fresh student is usually more sincere and hard-working.

While some think that this is a good thing, if not today, tomorrow that associate will have his own practice, and this experience will help him. But the sad side appears when you come to know that he's doing nothing but registry work, he is drafting some applications here and there and doing some basic research.

If you know, register work, it's good, you should, but if you ONLY do registry work, it's sad and bad for the future.

Let's accept this fact that associates join chambers not to earn money, but to learn the court art. Sadly, they have been reduced to clerks.

this is a gray area as far as I know, a strict reading of the advocates act would the power of BCI to qualifying law degree only (which is the LLB), however, a wider reading may bring in anything to do with legal education (including PhD, lld etc.) under the domain of BCI.

Yes - attractive women end up marrying rich successful men and even the achievers are left out if they are not attractive. But at the same achieving women won’t settle for less they want successful husbands. Also, there are law firms that prefer single women so that they are available all the time. I personally know 3-4 senior partners are different law firms who prefer single women. It’s a sad state of affairs but this is what it is.
