We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.

1. Keep trying. In low intensity places.
2. Find ways to practice. At home.
3. Watch people. In court or movies.
4. Use your hands. Actions release tension.
5. Find phrases. Its to cover your mistakes.
6. Find a style. Play a character. It loosens you.
Then they came for a law student. But I did not protest, as this was not my law school.
Then they came for me. But there was nobody left to protest for me.
NUJS students should boycott him.

In total, IISc has received around โน1300 crores in endowment for its medical school, so it is in a different league altogether.
I had a query regarding salary structuring on lateral movement. Suppose someone starts as an A0 at a boutique law firm with a package of around โน5 LPA, and after one year (i.e., at the A1 level), they make a switch to a Tier-1 or Tier-2 law firm โ in such a scenario, how is the compensation determined?
Would the pay be aligned with the standard A1 bracket at the T1/T2 firm, or would it be calculated based on a percentage increment over the candidate's previous CTC?
I would appreciate insights from those who have had similar experiences or are aware of the lateral hiring norms in the industry.
Thanks in advance!
don't have any response from any partner/firm.
Ready to work with any team at this moment.
Those who have been successful in getting to an interview via cold email, can you explain how and what is required to email all the partners to get their attention?
if in case i sound too desparate for job, is it good or bad?
I hope you join a good team and are trained well to be indispensable in your practice area of choice (though itโs more of a perception and not always necessarily related to competence in all places). Donโt hesitate; itโs okay; best of luck :)
SLS Pune can be chosen after 10 older NLUs. Say till you get RGNUL, RMLNLU, NUALS, CNLU.
SLS Noida, Nagpur or Hyd after all NLU options exhausted.
That being said, the highest paid SA would probably be from VR or NKU or SS teams because IK had a pool system for bill share. Even then 65-70 lakhs for SA1 is a reach for the aforementioned teams.
I have heard numbers of 42-45 lakhs on a good year floating around though (includes 15-18 lakhs of bill share). Even 50 lakhs is entirely possible but only in an exceptional year and wouldn't be the norm
What subjects in law/ internships should i focus on where my bcom background would help
LI moderator, while moderating this conversation, should understand that this is the age of AI, they can pass the moderation off to AI pretty easily, otherwise they can ensure that a few more people are on the job for moderation.
I have a few conversations (professionally important for me, as any one good response will help me) pending moderation for over last 20 hours, and every few hours i have to return to check if there's something..
maybe, if this all passes moderation (which i don't know if moderation will be modest enough to do), then the comments on this convo can make slight different in the working of LI.. who knows, worth a shot, a better, faster LI might be of help for someone someday...
I know few people who have been in this position for more than a year. This trainee thing is quite rampant in the Blr office.
Like babes, why are you yelling at poor associates at 10 AM on a Tuesday? Go scream into a pillow or a therapist.

Iโm sorry but the way โฎโฎโฎ gives work? Itโs not delegation, itโs a punishment. Like โฎโฎโฎ this is a firm, not Squid Game.

Anyway โฎโฎโฎ.

My advice is to 30-35% and divide it between a liquid emergency fund (10%) and mutual fund investments (20%)
Take care of yourself now that you are earning well but do not spend money on stupid stuff. It is very easy to prioritise savings over wellbeing or splurging on things you donโt need- be mindful of both.
Buy your family and friends gifts from time to time, there is no better way of enjoying this money.
