More than law firms doing a check, be careful about cancel culture vigilantes (from both the left and right) doing so. For, judiciary, fyi - in-hand is 1.25 a month + 35k allowances (30 earned leave, 12 casual leave, some more medical, + 14 days minimum summer break, 7-8 days of winter break, 5-7 days for diwali, and all public holidays). working hours are 10-5, the work u bring home is as per your schedule and timeline. though it is not hybrid, 6 days a week type of calendar in routine.

How much do junior and senior standing counsels for Income tax department and CGST customs department earn per day ? I know it depends on the work that they do but I'm asking what's the average per day including drafting appearances and all is it something like 5k per day for junior standing counsel and 10k.per day for senior ? medicine and law are v different and taxing professions, if u ranked well enough to get a t1, good chance u might be making in crores in your 40s. While money is important, please understand that what you choose to do, you are dedicating your entire life towards. There are many rich people who do not lead fulfilling lives and die w regrets, and there are many middle class people who lived meaningful lives and died satisfied.

Purely from a practical POV - Clat is a relatively easy exam, you can prep for both and use it as a backup. If u dont care for medicine and was doing it for the money, there's a good chance you wont be able to sustain it, if so, drop it and just focus on clat.

I think it’s a relevant question, because on LI we see a lot of hype given to very successful and glamorous NLSIU alumni, like Gopal Shankarnarayan, Akshay Jaitley, Menaka Guruswamy, partners in foreign law firms, professors in foreign law schools etc. If not everyone is successful, it will rectify the public impression. It will also reduce the pressure on students and parents, who may have unrealistic expectations — e.g. Sharmaji’s beta gets into NLSIU, so Sharmaji announce to the whole neighbourhood that beta will buy a BMW and a flat in DLF Camellias within 10 years, beta will get engaged to the richest and most beautiful girl in town etc. … Ok, I’m exaggerating a little, but such cringe parents do exist!! 😖

As the above comment rightly showcased, the tier system is largely formulated on the basis of placements. Most students who join a NLU do so with the aspiration of getting placed. Further, in recent times, a law degree has become so expensive that securing a placement has, in many ways, become a necessity. Therefore, regardless of how one categorises universities into tiers, GNLU will always qualify as Tier 1 based on placements alone.
