I am a graduate of a National Law University with an LLM from one of the top NLUs. After graduation, I prepared for the Judicial Services Examination, clearing the mains but not the interview stage. In the process, I lost 3 valable years. After that, I worked at small law firms in Delhi for two years concerning commercial litigation, Arbitration matters and other civil law disputes.I was an average student and did not participate in moots or publish paper. I’m keen to explore whether there is a possibility of me being considered in Dispute Resolution teams in mid-tier or Tier-1 law firms. I am seeking your valuable opinion and would truly appreciate your guidance.

You could try:

1. Joining a gym, or Cult fit group classes

2. Trying a new sport like swimming, golf, pickleball etc.

3. Board games meetups which you will find via social media

4. Going to good bars during IPL, EPL games.

5. Hiking or trekking events

6. Group bike rides

Making friends requires you to put yourself in new surroundings, and once there, be outgoing and curious about people. Aim to meet 1 new person in a month. That's more than enough. Good luck.

Round 2 is team specific. They'll ask you for 2 preferences and then send you an assessment for both. It'll be a case study and will have 5 questions about it. Mine was competition and M&A.

Competition was easy but it had very close options like the same thing written with synonyms so it was little difficult for me. M&A I found tough, it had questions on FEMA and other related stuff. I found it difficult but it also might be because I am a second year. Couldn't get through but all the best to you!

Best bet among the T2 Nlus. Try to have a mentor in the 4-5th year or even a recent passout who can trust, someone who can guide you with structuring your internships, moots and publications. These people aren’t going to be the loudest people on campus, and don’t just follow any advice blindly.

While there are unhelpful people, plenty of seniors are easily approachable and happy to help anyone. The moot system does suck, but there’s alot of demand on the student end to change it, hopefully the admin relents. All the best!

Honestly all I'd say is, as your senior,

1. do NOT get into alcohol and drugs. It has become a very pathetic culture here and a lot of people Indulge to 'fit in'. But trust me, fitting in with the wrong crowd is worse than sitting alone.

2. Protect yourself. This college takes a lot from you. Don't give it your sanity or peace.

3. Engage with your seniors. You'll have moments when their support is all you'd need to survive. And sometimes we find that they are better friends than your batchmates.

4. Speaking of batchmates, do not trust anybody until your 2nd semester ends. It doesn't matter how close you get, or how similar you guys are. Dynamics change really fast here and social boycott is common.

Can confirm dreadful senior bulling culture back in 2022, particularly lousy bullying and physical intimidation - everything from being harassed when trying to go to the gym, to being called and given threats for calling the harasser out when he stood for presidentship, being ragged in small groups after being called to seniors' rooms through humiliating acts and forcefully asked to crush marijuana, forced (through verbal and physical intimidation) to not attend classes when protests were called unilaterally by seniors. There was a LOT of this! A persistent attempt was made by senior batches to subjugate juniors and make them a part of their druggie circles, which I am sad to say, a LOT of batchmates fell easily into. These were all considerations for reattempting CLAT 2023 in Dec 2022.

Nevertheless, I could not do justice if I did not make fair mention of the handful of gems we had in seniors, whether through the nurturing guidance they provided, their sheer academic brilliance, or their help in addressing other seniors' ragging. Also, some very fair-minded professors who took action when such behavior was brought to their notice, and a few genuinely wholesome batchmates who felt a lot like comrades and some exceptional batchmates who were remarkably brilliant and intelligent. I have no doubt that for those who remained there, HNLU has at least a few good people, and can get you a job if you are serious about it.

Unfortunately, it also had a lot of traps - at the time at least, a very serious drug problem that put many, many batchmates in very bad places - some of whom are still in bad places, and a general feeling of hopelessness due to the very low quality of professors who end up teaching most of the time. Only a small minority of batchmates felt like they were actually there to study or learn anything. All in all, a truly concerningly high number of first years rewrote the CLAT 5 months (just 1 sem) into it, and everyone who could go to a better place (whether through vacancy in upper NLUs or CLAT 2023) took it and ran.

The point I am attempting to make is that the senior culture in 2022 left a lot to be desired, and I hope it has gotten better in recent times, but I do not know. Culture really is what makes a university, and the senior culture is astronomically better at NLS which creates an environment that is miles better in ways that are hard to describe in text but can be felt every second. If you get HNLU - take it, and be serious there about your future and you should be fine. But do not think twice about reattempting the CLAT and getting out while you can.

He taught the 'Comparative Public Law and Governance' course for our batch in the November 2024-January 2025 Trimester. Since we were a large class of 116 students, he largely lectured through the sessions. However, he did explain the seemingly complex readings in a manner that was easy to follow. He also respected the wide diversity that exists in the LL.M. batch and did not make condescending remarks about any student. He was easily accessible for discussions outside the class hours and was very patient in answering our questions. Easily one of the best classroom teachers I have had. I can see why students at NALSAR were upset about his departure.

Certainly not. JU's English and Comparative Literature Departments are globally renowned. Their Maths department has a decent reputation too, as do their International Relations and Linguistics departments. Please stop passing off your uninformed opinion as facts. As for your comment about the CPM, this was a case under the TMC government when JU was shortlisted for IoE status and it was not about state control, it was about the Central Government changing rules midway between the process, with a deliberate attempt to sabotage it.

Since i stay in mumabi nmims iswhat my parents want me to choose but i want to get out of my comfort zone, try something harder so i want to take symbiosis, if there are any nmims or symbi ppl here which college is better and why?

I am a batch of 2025 graduate from a low tier NLU. I have done one long term internship in a T1 firm and one assessment internship in a T1 firm. Both of which didnot land in job. The response of partners (in both firms) was, that they are not looking for fresher hiring. This frustrates me, and made me helpless. Could anyone suggest how should I land a job from this point.

My parents have recently faced salary deduction for this year, and since they are approaching 60's they are suffering from lot of health issues.

Anand A0- 40-50k
Sai Krishna A0- 40-50k
United and United A0- 45k

Mason A0- 30-35k
Lalji- 30-35k

Sai Krishna has a good working environment. Clientele is fine. Work environment is peaceful.
Anand is top tier but pay doesn't match the name. Work culture is fine.
United is a Lala firm, pay and clients are good but work culture is ridiculous.
Mason mostly does intermediary work. Work culture is okay, the partner is a bit weird and whimsical but you can still work there. Not as heavy litigation as Anand, Sai or United.

Lalji also has a big team. They have a good prosecution practice. Pay is not that great but it is a decent place to start at.

Harshita is leaving soon, rumours are that there will be a major team movement with her. Nish and new S&R Partner are staying with corporate team with a young bunch of lawyers. I heard total corporate team is now in single digit. But have worked against few people from the current corporate team of Nish and they seem to be doing good (plus they have a good enough legacy corp client base for sustaining for another few years before work dries up- credit where credit is due)

I’m an A0 (almost A1) in the transactional practice of a T2.

Through my treatment by my seniors and sometimes the way they talk to me, I have totally lost all confidence in myself and constantly feel I’m sub-par and not made for this.

Anyone else going through this?
