It’s a ruined profession..family, connections, brokering, bootlicking work more than merit and talent..out of 100 who make money, 5 are self made or those not having fathers or godfathers..don’t know how long India’s youth will tolerate this joke of legal profession and courts.

Obviously, this is a joke, satirising how many people engage in group-think about moots-elite contacts-commercial law firm job. But still, I didn't understand the inclusion of number 1. Why would an aspiring commercial lawyer want to read The Oxford Handbook of the Indian Constitution "cover to cover" in either a satirical or even the real world? :)

Get an iPad. I'm telling you from my personal experience, after using both Android tablets and the iPad, it's way better.

Go for the A16 iPad. Don’t buy the Apple Pencil. Instead, get the DIGIROOT pencil from Amazon. It provides all the same functionality that the USB Type-C Apple Pencil offers.

If you're into sketching or drawing, then go for the 1st-generation Apple Pencil, since the USB Type-C version doesn't support pressure sensitivity on the A16 iPad. The DIGIROOT pencil also doesn't have pressure sensitivity, but for taking notes and general use, it's very good and offers similar features at around ₹1,800, much cheaper than the USB Type-C Apple Pencil, which costs about ₹8,000.

The only issue you might face is transferring documents, like PDFs, between the iPad and a Windows laptop. I use Google Drive or iTunes for this.

But overall, the iPad is far better. Please don’t buy an Android tablet, I bought one thinking it could match the iPad’s flexibility and performance, but I was wrong.

please suggest between NLUJ and NUJS what should be chosen , I am really fucking confused and depressed with this choice otherwise I'll regret whole my life

the positive thing I can come up with(for jodhpur ) is that it has single rooms(with possible AC) and huge campus , an active VC , pollution free campus

as for NUJS , its top 3 , excellent placements (which idk jodhpur doesn't have that good as referred on internet), in the city , better electives(as I have gathered from internet only)

the reason I am not able to decide on NUJS is the poor living conditions , very small campus , student politics , controversial VC and people claiming NUJS is deteriorating

I am a student at a mid-tier National Law University (NLU) with a GPA of approximately 8.6 out of 10, which I believe corresponds to a 2:1 in the UK grading system. My batch rank isn’t great, but I have performed well in moots, publications, and other academic activities. I have a strong interest in constitutional law. Where should I apply in the UK, and where do I stand a good chance of admission?

Hi, I’m feeling a bit directionless at the moment.
There seem to be plenty of options, but still none.
I studied at an NLU, though I was never particularly drawn to law during college, so I didn’t intern much. I know that’s not ideal, but here I am, trying to figure things out.

If I do want to pursue a career in law now, what would be a good way to get started?
I know I have the ability- I'm smart and a quick learner. It's just that I’ve taken a while to figure out what I want.

The corporate law firm route is probably not realistic for me at this point, considering any decent firm wouldn't hire me. But I’m open to most other avenues.

Would starting to intern now be a sensible step?
Any guidance would mean a lot.

Recently came across a survey of Local circles which names-other dept (legal , mines etc.) As the most corrupt one followed by labour /pf, property reg , gst , municipal Corp and then others. Was shocked to see police and rto so below. Your views ? Also no mention on judiciary in it. What do u guys think about it ?

You should contact the NLU, but in India generally a U is equivalent to what Indian board consider an F.

NLUs do not specifically ask either for a Statement of Results or Certificate but if you try to only submit the final certificate and they see the U, they will ask you for the SoR. I guess you can sit for another series, while submitting the undertaking to submit your results later.

Ferraris are the cheapest of the bunch, but they're primarily a sports car brand. Senior partners usually prefer sleek sedans or premium SUVs. Showing up in a Ferrari, even if they can shell out 3cr, would be a bit off for sure.

We see BMWs, Mercs all over the place with top corporate lawyers and top senior counsels. But the real top tier - Rolls, Bentley, Ferraris. Who are the lawyers in Delhi/Bombay/Bangalore who drive (or more likely get driven) in these perfect machines? Law firms founders like Saraf are still mostly at the BMW i7/Range Rover range I feel.

Moreover, It's a public platform with anonymity, open for all. If the kid believes he can't join a tier 1, and wants to look for a decent tier 2, good for them. They know themselves. About to be A0 soon, got placed at a decent T2 firm. Most likely I'll get a GC team focused on labour and employment laws. There's transactional work but not a lot. Is it possible to make a switch in a year to a core transactions team (M&A PE VC)? What's the procedure? Serious answers please!

IITs also have enough infrastructure. I don't think anyone minds batch expansion per se – it's the fact that we don't have enough faculty (senior batches are being put into larger classrooms i.e. we go from 4 sections of 60 to 3 of 80 and so on), not enough quality faculty (anyone taking classes in the Batch of '28 can confirm), not enough hostel rooms, bunk beds in tiny cramped rooms, not enough classrooms on campus, and more.

All of this isn't to say that NLS isn't great – it still is. On an average, still amazing. Doesn't mean it can't be criticised.

Also, Harvard is a terrible example. While it is very possible to form bonds without being in a residential space, it is equally true that being put into a common living space puts you in a situation to have unexpected encounters, random late-night conversations, closer bonds with friends, doing fuckall together at 2 am. You can't seriously say "some students in Harvard live off-campus doing the law" without acknowledging that: (a) Students doing the law are literal adults in the USA, NOT doing an undergrad and (b) US undergrad is on an average known in popular media, culture, and actual reality to be very focused on college life – a big part of which comes from shared accommodation.

you just had a quick escape from working under her, They ask associates and interns to work entirely from office, works extends till mid night on most of the days, due to such hectic life, many resigned, and hence you would always have vacancies all the year round for her team.

NUJS is doing okay. As a matter of fact, we do bag the highest number of law firm jobs across NLUs, but this year has seen a significant market recession in terms of PPOs as compared to previous NUJS batches. While we are not as good as we would like to be, we are far better off in comparison to other law schools. These figures are approximate -

As you all know, one coaching institute has been backing up the petitioners who are actually working with LKS and at MP High courts, just a publicity stunt unlike ug petitions were there's real concern, maybe some advocates at delhi high court should definitely file case against petitioners for such dramas and also if you people would have gone through the recent interview video were the petitioner was bashed by candidates in comments section where he the so called petitioner was hitting back through comments at candidates for opposing him, and that coaching institute ( hint LE) took down the comments opposing him, its high time to consider the case from this angle, maybe only advocates from delhi could be our saviour in such situation to fight against such petitioners who are simply filing petitions for their own popularity..whats your take on this ?

Depends on the practice area. Saraf for disputes and banking. Their M&A is a joke. They don't really do much M&A. They have a team, but working on resolution plans or regulatory advisory is not M&A.

Indus for M&A and PE. Still one or two very decent partners left in each office. Still very good in VC deals. TMT is decent as well. At least better than saraf. Real estate is also better in the Delhi office than Saraf. For corp, go to Mumbai or Bangalore.

Don't do cap marks or competition in either.

Not in case of JU. The Central Government had changed the rules at the last moment and asked the state to pitch in with a huge sum of money, which it knew wouldn't be possible for the State. The university had even requested for the autonomy alone, claiming that they would be able to self-finance their activities, however the Central Government did not agree to that. So this is an example of a fully qualified eminent university losing out because of politics between Central and State governments.

What was the need to mark it as anything? Teacher's pet behaviour doesn't work in every context, you know. Especially not here. This (Legally India) is that kids' playground where rules, because of the lack of adult supervision, either go to die or are, at best, enforced in an arbitrary, contradictory, patchy and random way.
