If you are planning to change your practice area, then its better you go to some boutique law firm first to make a base on the changed practice area and then shift to T1; it would be easy. (This is because T1/T2 don't want to hire someone who wishes to change practice area, a PQE in necessary to get in)
But if you want to stick to insurance regulatory only, then the options are few and you might have to dig in a bit.
The attrition rates are not much in teams like this niche. So make sure you do your research on this before reaching out.

Reach out to job hunters via Linkedin. Bhargava sisters, Yellow Diaries, Michael Page, Vohura, Khusboo Luthra, etc., (rest, try finding them as I have given leads).

With current situation NLUO. You can bet that MNLU would use location as an advantage, but this was debate even 6 years ago and seemingly nothing has changed. Or you can bet Ved Kumari would run NLUO into gutters, but she hasn't been that bad.

In any case both are T2, with NLUO having a slight edge due to being older.

It could very well be.

1. They have not defined the roles of a fellow.

2. They haven't advertised the post of Academic Fellow. There's a chance that Doctoral Fellowship people might have to do some work required from Academic Fellows. I can say a lot about academic fellowship, but let's just say, I don't want to dox myself.

As a student at a UK uni, I can tell you that that 'you are insulting your uni admin by insulting me' line was one of the worst mistakes she could have possibly made. Loyalty to institutional "brand" in the UK is far lower than what it is in India and people like her would do well to understand this.

Look mate. Unless your life circumstances are something along the lines of you having something like a severe disability for which you need personal care regularly, your family lives in Bengal and therefore NUJS, I would say that any other personal reason is likely to be a very silly one. NLS is NLS and there's no doubt of that. They are hiring the sorts of faculty that the best universities of the world like to hire, because their faculty have graduate qualifications from the best universities of the world. They have a reputation that no other place in India has. One of the things you'll eventually have to do as a law student is researching. Start now, by looking up the achievements of NLS alumni. They have made partner in world-class law firms, have made King's Counsel in England and Wales (which only the very best lawyers can achieve), been faculty in the world's best universities (including Oxford and Columbia). So unless your circumstances are similar to the hypothetical I outlined, please think about this choice again. (Not like NUJS is a bad university, but still!)

See, I don’t think the top 3/4 NLUs have that much of a dream. Yes, NLSIU is the dream but what’s the point of going there if you have regrets or just end up being dissatisfied. NUJS though plagued with its set of issues is a very, very good college with great placements so there’s not going to be any shortcomings. I believe you should go to NUJS and live your life. Heard, the student life is amazing. And congratulations on your rank, good luck!

I got a double digit rank in CLAT 2025 and I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

From the very beginning I've wanted to join NUJS,but now with my rank I can also get NLS but the thing is I'm still leaning towards NUJS due to a certain non-academic reason (personal reasons....you may make a guess :⁠-⁠) ).

So is choosing NUJS over NLS a big mistake?

I mean idk...NUJS has better placements and stuff....and I don't have a problem with NUJS campus...

At the end of the day I've to spend 5 years in my college,so considering that,is choosing NUJS over NLS really self sabotaging or is the difference minimal?

(My reason for preferring NUJS as I said is personal...and driven not by logic)

I'm a practising advocate (fresh grad). I'm thinking of enrolling in CS (don't have plan to obtain CS COP. Just need it for knowledge and creds), my question is whether it will amount to discontinuation of my advocate practise? Do I need to surrender my CoP?

Please help. I need continuation of practise and don't want to risk it. So just trying to be sure.

There is also another reason. While Judges aren't paid much, they also don't have to spend much since all their (including family's) expenses are taken care of. Their public movement etc. is supposedly bit curtailed.

Their retirement is also sorted coz most of them become arbitrators or on government panels. All these factors put together doesn't necessitate them to save up for future like commoners.

They also have good access to folks who can help them invest their money very well.

A variety of reasons:

1. Scholarships2. Family wealth - the judge's father would have been a prominent senior advocate, businessman; the spouse might run a successful business; etc.

3. Wealth from days when they practiced as senior advocates

My advice - if you can't afford the LLM, don't do it, it's not really worth it anyway

There are several pressing issues leading to this:1. Declining quality of new faculty appointment: The overall quality of new faculty members has been alarmingly substandard. The Jindal-foreign LLM-jindal lecturer pipeline is getting more and more real. While this trajectory benefits the lecturers—since, as freshers they will not be paid that high in any other law college in India. But, it also makes the whole joke that Jindal will take any Rahul, aryan or aditya with a foreign LLM degree true. It raises concerns regarding the overall faculty expertise and diversity of academic backgrounds.

2. Admin intervention: The university admin has been exerting increasing control over academic matters, leading to a significant curtailment of both academic freedom and freedom of expression. This interference may, in part, be attributed to a certain someone joining a certain party. Ex. recent backlash over linkedin posts and disciplinary action on professors (seriously?!?).

3. Allocation of subjects: Beyond elective courses, where faculty members generally have the freedom to teach subjects aligned with their interests, there exists little autonomy in the assignment of core courses. Professors are frequently required to teach subjects outside their primary areas of expertise. For instance, known ADR-expert professor teaching Evidence. Or a company law professor (who did not in-fact know company law), now teaching environment law (who again cannot teach environment law). And we had foreign faculties who were devoid of any Indian legislation expertise teach environment law. This I think is the biggest issue, because at the end of the day, students do not take elective courses that seriously and core courses are not taught properly either.

I am a graduate from a T-2 NLU and have been litigating for the past 1.5 years. Wanting to make a switch to corporate, I started applying to law firms (PE/VC practice) a few months ago but have not received a single call back till date. Just the generic HR emails that they have received my application. I have been applying to T-2/T-3 and boutique law firms.

I have stopped litigating assuming that I would focus on the applications solely and would get a job in 1-2 months. I do not intend to go back to litigation.

I wanted to know how can I utilise my time efficiently, till the time I receive an offer from a law firm. I do not wish to just sit at home waiting for these firms to reply, doesn’t seem prudent. Also if there’s anything I can do to fasten up the process a little.

Should I take up a course or start doing some research work just not sure.

It would be great if someone who was in a similar situation like me could share some insights.

I am tired of applying internships in law firms in kolkata with no response. Now due to some reasons I can't step out of Kolkata atleast now for intesnships. I m in 2nd year and I think I have to built my CV interned at law firms virtually 2 -3 . Now kolkata has firms but they are like tier 1 2 firms which obviously won't take me due to lack of experience required. I m frustrated and on top of that I scroll linkedln and feel depressed. How to secure an internship in a law firm!!!

I think a very simple but difficult to follow

(1) maintain a good rank

(2) publish corporate related blogs in irccl etc

(3) do a moot in corp law

(4) plan and apply in advance to the places you want to intern at. To determine where you want to intern, notice the trajectory of people that work where you finally want to land up at.

Try your best to follow this. Don’t worry if you try your best and some things don’t happen, just give you best

What issues are "progressive" and what in turn are "regressive" is very subjective. Supporting a terrorist organization who are carrying out a gender apartheid against women may be progressive to you, others may not share your beliefs.
