Capmarks is a third class practice area, you can't move inhouse at one of the BRLM's corporate legal team - unless you are 9+ PQE at a tier 1. Maybe you can move on to Singapore after 3 or 4 years at a tier 1; but it is quite narrow in terms of other options outside the circuit.

Banking and Finance is more broad since it has different niches within the entire gamut of practice; which allows you to get a flavour to many things and also be more flexible to inhouse opportunities after few years at law firms (tier 1 or otherwise).

Work life balance is fucked in both, capmarks even worse. Pay will be higher in capmarks though.

Well said OP. Surrounding this entire fiasco the original oversight that could've prevented all this has seemed to have been blurred. All the delays, all the uncertainty, all the court hearings, everything could've been avoided if they had just reviewed the question paper once. Especially the english question that OP mentioned, it seems almost comical as to why they would mark it as the right answer. It will all be well in the end, just focus on your boards and try not to thing too much of it (granted easier said than done) and everything will work itself out.

Have been practicing environmental law for more than a year now. I find the matters interesting. You start dealing with on ground realities, and scope of environment is very vast in itself (forest clearance, environment clearance, solid waste management, illegal mining, etc).The bad part is the pretense and the sham which the environmental litigation bring. Tribunals are focused on just procedural legalese. So you won't see and feel deliberations taking place on environmental issues, which ideally should happen, considering the increasing challenges we face. And then you will see that environmental litigation is just a fruitless exercise. But I still consider it better than other avenues.

Looks matter everywhere. I used to have alot of active cystic acne back in 12th grade and literally had no friends, literally no one would bother to talk with me in those days. My face cleared up whilst I prepped for CLAT (I still have some scars though) and I lost a fair bit of weight too (Didnt eat because of mental stuff) and I felt like a entire different human being when I started college. Whenever I bump into old friends they all talk about how I got a "glow-up" and whatnot and how I'm alot more extroverted now even though nothing about my personality has changed except for me losing some weight and my skin getting clearer. People LOVE to act like looks don't matter but they themselves ignore and shun people who arent attractive to them, a common way people do this is by calling them "boring", when the only thing that's boring about them is their face. This might sound bitter to some but I guess that's just anger for how I got treated in my hs days.
