Most of looks is about attention to detail. Not so much expensive clothes as do you think about what you put in and on your body, and do you think about basic exercise, skin care etc. Obviously that is not a substitute for intelligence and kindness which are better than looks any day. But some people give off this unkept self-hating vibe which gets worse as other people are mean to them. It's just not attractive. Maybe think a bit about why people would talk to you. Why do you want to talk to them? It's if they brighten your day a bit. Or you learn something. Or they feel comforting.

Have you ever even been to the UK? True, it's not in a great condition ATM, but "barrelling into the abyss" is some big level of exageration, put forward by someone who clearly has a chip on the shoulder about the British or some other personal reason to be resentful of them. Please stop misleading people. Why are you so hurt by them? What did the big, bad Brits do to you? Rejected you for LLB? LLM? PhD? Rhodes Scholarship? Training contract? Pupillage? Or is it just that you think the UK has too many Muslims?

Evidence: I have studied and lived there for a few years now, work there at this time, plan to continue working there, see a (reasonably) smooth path for that ambition, absolutely celebrate every day the thought that I made the right choices in life and am surrounded by kind, thoughtful and intellectually strong people, and would drink a cup of my own piss before returning to India for work unless forced to by circumstances.

The world economic order is in a complete disarray! The Indian economy focus is mostly on augmenting the domestic industries and consumption which seems pretty far-fetched at the moment.

Liquidity of Banks has been hit. NBFCs are struggling. Real Estate and Infrastructure which were major themes until 2024 are no longer in the picture. Premiumisation of brands has been shoved back into the bin. So what remains?

See if you can pursue a PhD in IISc or the older IITs in your subject. They are outside of the purview of UGC and have been taking those with 4-year UG degrees directly for their PhD programs for at least a decade already. In addition, if your UG scores very good, you can even try for the PMRF - it gives you a fellowship amount of ₹80000 - ₹90000 per month (twice the amount you get as a JRF). JFYI - IITD and IITKGP offer PhD in Law. IIMC and IIMR as well.

I'll be very honest, the current UGC administration is really bad. Be it removal of UGC Care lists, or compulsory ABC registrations an so on.

This also feels like a bad decision which they might go back on. Anyways, I'm assuming you've done 5 years law programme, in this case, it is better to get a masters and then pursue phd for better job opportunities. If you allow phd right after ug, what's the point of a masters degree? Either remove it altogether if you feel not enough research is being done in masters or make rules around that. In any case I really don't think either NLUs or central unis would allow direct phd for law

I have a particular problem with recent law grads being invited to judge, because many are driven by biases such as giving more mark to people who speak English well or are beautiful (male judges are guilty of crushing on pretty girl contestants during judging and approach them afterwards for dates, especially where the age difference is just 2 or 3 years).

Of course, the other issue is that the senior and good judges are too busy and don't get paid anything.

Bro for that matter prelim rounds of international moots also have subpar judges, I'm talking int rounds. They also are v well known to favour certain teams edition after edition. Cope with it, mooting isn't as serious and it's not taken by the industry as well, for good. The cons we point out will remain like this, as they have till now.

Does reservation policy in India need a relook: not just caste but also PH? Why should the cut-off be zero? Are forced quotas like this the best way to implement affirmative action?

I wanted to do general lit with mix of ADR like the work done by a typical Disputes & Dispute Resolution team. Instead, am at a place that does niche disputes of a certain kind i.e., Securities, Taxation, IBC, DRT matters etc. and only stick to one of these areas. You do not work on any other types of matters.

Well said ! The Consortium has displayed staggering incompetence and what is worse, a high degree of shamelessness. They had the opportunity to fix the errors after the provisional answer key was released - instead, they extracted more money from candidates and then abruptly released the "final" answer key and ranks at midnight before the AILET exam. And now they are dragging out the court process. Heads should roll for this, but will they? I wish the consortium members had been personally named in the lawsuits and that they would face some consequences. If a first-year associate was this incompetent, they would be fired instantly.

It's been 2.5 years since I graduated but what I can confidently tell you from my experience is that this sir/mam system is the easiest method to know who to avoid for the next 5 years. Observe and comply for the first semester if you feel objecting to it is not worth it. The first semester break will make everyone forget everything and you will get to make a fresh start from the second semester onwards. Then ignoring and avoiding those identified seniors (who are more often than not good for nothing and hopelessly incompetent) should be the way to go. These identified people are usually the ones saying something like "if you don't address us in a certain way or do yada yada yada as per our instructions/ suggestions/ influence then "wE WilL not hElp yoU". Very soon you will realise they were anyway not in a position to help anyone. You will come back to this comment and thank me later.

I don't mean to offend anyone, I appeared for clat 2025 and will get nls in the first list but looking at it's fees ie 4,53,000 this year, I can't help but wonder if this is going to give me a substantial advantage over other nlus like nalsar or nluj. I come from a middle class family so I would have to take a loan obviously for the fees so it is really troubling me now if I should go for it or not.

For Indirect tax, Karthik Sundaram, Sandeep Bagmar and R Parthasarathy from my knowledge. There would be others, though. However, the best of lot is Mr. Datar or N. Venkatraman. They are two of the best indirect tax practitioners going around and both hail from Chennai. Not sure if they still maintain a chamber in Chennai but if they do, nothing better than them. One separate point- NV is ASG currently, so not sure if he's still in Chennai and how he's recruiting.

Join any senior but don't demand money. The senior will take care of your life expenses without anything being mentioned by work coming to you sooner than you think. Arrange for a year of your expenses. Work like crazy. Things will happen if you are really cut out for Bombay litigation system.

Meanwhile, some on social media are commenting that the number is even higher and only around 50 million Indians have discretionary purchasing power.

NLUO should definitely be ranked higher than MNLU, as the college has been steadily improving post-COVID, especially in terms of moots and other competitions. The placement opportunities at NLUO have also been on the rise, and by the time you graduate in five years, it could emerge as the best Tier-2 NLU. This is particularly notable considering MNLU has significantly inflated fees, despite lacking its own campus.

In terms of placements, NLUO also surpasses HNLU, although not by a wide margin. However, beyond placements, NLUO excels in extracurricular activities such as moots and other competitions (as compared to other T2's)

RMNLU also has decent placement opportunities, although not as strong as those mentioned above. That said, many students at RMNLU focus on preparing for judicial services, so if that's your goal, it could be a strong choice.
