1. Have 2 phones - one for work, one for friends and family
2. If you have savings/family pocket money - try for an iOS-Android combo - that way best of both worlds

3. If you do not have savings, get a mid-tier Android - Pixel range; once you're A1, you can get the iPhone, and a year later, upgrade to the Android flagship (whichever it may be then).

Keep work and personal phones separate. Just 2 sims in the same phone won't cut it - the anxiety inducing notifications will destroy you.

Very poor. From the batch of 2025 (all 5-year courses included), not even 15 students were placed through the recruitment cell in a batch of 300+. While in aggregate more than 15 students got placed, there were through their own efforts. I understand more than half of the batch of 2024 is still not placed.

I used to sit on the same floor as Pranav and his team. Seemed like a good bunch of people. Sometimes they used to have long nights but I think that was just the 2-3 nights prior to execution and closing of deals. Pranav was also very helpful. Primarily did transactional work.

Since almost every other T-1 and other well-paying boutique firms seem to be on a hiring freeze, could you all name firms that aren't? Firms that are actually rolling out offers and looking to hire/offering assessment internships,etc. Please ensure some credibility to your information and don't misguide people.

Although people do say that it doesn't matter as much in India, I think it's mostly their luck that allows them to say so. Back in 2023, even people who were in the bottom 10-20% of the batch (T-1 NLUs) had multiple offers. This year, even the top 10-20% seem to be struggling so far.

Grades do not define you, but luck does. To a certain extent at least. And it's something you can't count on, unfortunately. I have very average grades in my third year at a t-1 NLU and am insanely struggling finding an internship. My immediate seniors haven't even had 5% of their batch receive a ppo, when the figures by this team of the year would cross 20%. So yeah, hope things turn well for everyone. But nothing is assured, so keep working, and try imrpoving your grades I guess.

While NIRF rankings may not be entirely reliable, consistently being in the top 5 does indicate some level of merit. For instance, NLSIU Bangalore has held the top spot for years, and it's hard to argue that its ranking is entirely fabricated.

Ravi in CAM Noida is ok but some of his junior partners are intolerable and entitled. The team has no sense of boundaries and demands you to devote all of your time to them.

The mid level associate pool is ok and so are mostly the juniors but the arrogance flowing from the top is incredible demeaning and demotivating

Hi - firstly kudos that you dared to think/dream differently. While how you want to travel and how you budget is something you can best figure out based on your preference, I would suggest you pick up a remote job. Legal officer roles in startups or wfh roles at organisations like Vidhi, Daksh can be a good way to start your search. Identify an area you would like to explore. I think having this side gig/job would not just help you financially but mentally allow you to remain feel that you are still in the game/not completely out.

Ha, ha........so what the state NLUs have been doing for years is illegal. NLS has even pawned additional domicile seats for a mere 7 acres of leased land.

I mean, very technically, an advocate under the Advocates Act, is an advocate whose name has been entered into the state roll. They did qualify as advocates back when they applied.

The only condition I remember for losing the advocates tag, is they enter into employment. Losing Indian citizenship doesn't seem to them losing the advocates tag.

All Indian cities are helpful. In Mumbai, regular fights break out in the local trains. You have organised gangs which do not allow people to board a few locals - you are not allowed to board / get down before Dahisar if you get onto a Virar fast local. People might be in a hurry and want to reach their destination quickly, rather than get onto a Borivali fast which halts at pretty much every station after Andheri, thereby making it a little slow. Those who wish to argue on the lines of do not get into a Virar local while there are Borivali terminating locals, tell me, is there any law which prohibits people from doing so ? If there is, please point out. Apart from that, I have seen people fighting and even slapping others in taxi queues outside CST station. And gosh, those bhajan mandalis - never seen that in any other city's local transport (Before you get started saying other cities do not have local train systems - Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune all have local train (not metro) systems), never heard of such noise disturbance in those cities. Religion and beliefs should be a personal affair and kept at home, and should never be a mode of relaxation in a public place. There are several others who may want silence after a day of hard work, but they cannot enjoy that due to the nuisance and noise of the bhajan mandalis. And honestly, Mumbai is the most judgemental Indian city out there, you are judged for your choice of purchases, for how you spend your money, for the way you dress, people are so rude they come up to you and tell you "everyone is laughing at you, please behave properly". Never seen this in any other Indian city. This argument that no one in Mumbai has time is crap. Everyone makes the time for gossip sessions, be it at workplace, home or in the local trains.

It's so sad that unaware good for nothing 2 paisa kids here are laughing at this and drawing parallels between cancelled cheque situation and the bond situation. This cancelled cheque scenario is different from what is being posted here. Since the previous year there is a new ghastly trend emerging in companies of asking for signed non cancelled cheques. Cancelled cheques aren't allowed. Atleast read and be aware before making a mockery of somebody's miseries you imbeciles.
