can people please recommend youtube channels or other paid courses to study law subjects from. ones which have high quality conceptual explanation. when i search on youtube I see some taught by judiciary entrance exam teachers. they are very mcq, clearing the exam focused, not explaining the subjects in depth i feel

You have to try and be ethical and deal with things appropriately for a long time (going through complaints procedures, highlighting and calling out instances of bad behaviour very publicly, supporting and being allies to those impacted by this). If all this doesn't work, you, at some point, have to play as dirty as them.

That's really stupid of you then. Value add from an LLB is also similar in the real work. So if a student did not get to learn enough from an LLB and hence wanted to study more via an LLM, common sense dictates that you treat them and an LLB grad on equal grounds as fresher and check their knowledge base and skills before taking a call.

GNLU (in all its wisdom) suspends a student who filed an anti-ragging complaint against another student. Just imagine - a student is suspended because chose to stand against ragging. The court had to intervene to stay the suspension.

Such stories are very common nowadays - NLUD, RGNUL, NLS, WBNUJS, GNLU, MNLUN....the list goes on. State NLUs are in shambles in every way.

In the past 2-3 years, literally one NLU/Jindal student has died every month on average. While some deaths were due to medical reasons, and some due to car accidents, many seem to be related to suicide. It’s getting worse and worse because the VCs are mostly boomers in their 60s who do not understand that Gen Z is going through a deep-seated mental health crisis. It’s because of a dangerous cocktail of many factors: competition in academics and jobs, COVID lockdowns, social media toxicity, excessive materialism, a culture where casual hookups have replaced genuine feelings, and polarisation/cancel culture from both woke and right-wing people. Apart from a generation gap, the VCs also suffer from a socio-cultural gap, because they are mostly from semi-urban towns and conservative social backgrounds. They see no problems in shaming girls for wearing shorts, asking students their caste, imposing strict campus curfews etc. They also attended local law colleges and did not experience a liberal education amidst a cosmopolitan student community. So their minds are also closed.

The starting point to solving the problem should be to hand over charge of all universities to people who are closer in age to Gen Z and can relate a bit better to them than boomers. Gen Y people in their 30s maybe, or early 40s even. Plus also people from liberal urban backgrounds and preferably graduates of NLUs.

The only place where people seem to care about this guy is on LI because law students keep falling over each other to glaze him...you guys need to understand the legal fraternity is very big and just because you see someone active on social media doesn't mean they're mavericks or some super talented practitioners...

I’d recommend you do your DD about one other team at DSK too. Team is run by a beast who is one of the nicest people you can ever come across. However, the person runs a very tight ship and barely has any attrition. Friend was telling me he heard about some person who joined that team recently though, and said that sadly, this team does not have any vacancy.

(PS- this new associate is some someone who had some very special qualities/ qualifications and I was so intrigued when I heard about it, so you can understand the kind of people who are in his team, at the Firm too.)

I shifted from IPR to Data Privacy and do not regret my decision. I was specifically dealing with Trademark Prosecution and Opposition, and I got quite mundane for me. No disrespect to IP Lawyers, but I felt the kick is in IP Litigation, rest of the work is somewhat clerical, with your regular standard case-laws, already written write-ups for oppositions and FERs, and mostly hanging around sec 9 & 11. I realized this is not my calling and had interest in Data Privacy. I started reading about it, wrote a couple of articles and got thorough with GDPR (only around 100 sections), pulled some strings and got an in-house interview with one of the biggest IT companies in the World. End goal is getting into a law firm after learning for 1-2 years over here. I wish you the best, TMT practice and specifically Data Privacy is relatively new in law firms, but it will grow with time. Career options are after getting a deep understanding of this law, you can easily segway into in-house (saw people working and heading data privacy teams at Vistara, Mastercard, etc.), Big 4s also have advance teams than law firms for privacy at the moment, or you can even get into hardcore tech litigation, an example could be joining the chambers of Apar Gupta or similar tech lawyers in India.

Im.in my first year at a tier 1 nlu. Im geniunely considering applying for a transfer to a US uni. So my credits will transfer and ill only have to do 3 more years towards a 4 year BA. I know this is possible but i dont think theres any precedent. Is there?? Has anyone from an nlu done this before?

I pursued my LLM in human rights and within that I found a niche in digital rights. I want to further pursue a career in research or academia in this intersection of HR & DR. However I do not have any work experience or internship in a digital law firm. Nor am I interested in the corporate side of things. Can I or should I still pursue this field ? Or should I stick to traditional human rights topics which are more favourable in academia? Will it be beneficial to pursue internships during my PhD ? Does anyone know of any institute that is excellent in digital rights in India ?

The way it works is , as an EP (EquityPartner), you can get a younger person to be promoted as Partner, and he/she will be your executing partner (a junior partner to the EP, however you wanna call it). They-re 7-10 years in the profession so their salaries are lesser compared to a executing partner who's done 10-15 years. You use the new executing partner for 3-4 years; and when they're salary increments start burning a hole in the EP's budget for the year, the EP simply promotes a new team of PAs to executing partners and tells the previous executing partner to either bring in new clients to cover his costs or fuck off. Its all an evolving system, and I dont know how many people know the rules of this game we are in.

I'm a 3rd year 1st generation law student. Currently in a decent private college in Bangalore. And I have decided that I want to go in litigation but the issue is although I do internships but there is huge language barrier for me as I do not know the local language. Usually the work which I do in internships is research and seldom any drafting work. I really wanted to learn drafting and other litigation skills.

I do not have any strong financial backing thatswhy I'm thinking that after graduation I want to join any decent firm dispute wing. So that at least I can survive without my parents money.

What should I do now to achieve this? what should be my main focus and how to get into these disputes team without any college support? How much money can i expect in the beginning? wht can be my other alternatives through which i can get into litigation like any good chamber or something.

A guidance which I was given by a senior partner and which I have found to be vital is that you should never go to a BD meeting with the objective of getting work out of it, but rather just to build relationships. Of course you should talk about what you can bring to the table for them but don't make the client feel like you are only there to extract work at all costs from them.

Another suggestion is that you should never ignore existing clients. Maintaining relationships is as important as making new ones.

Hi, I am a second year law student at a tier-1 college. I am very confused as to how to start writing for the sake of publishing. Before you get started on how I should not write solely for the sake of publishing stuff, please hear me out. There are certain subject matters that I am interested in, e.g. competition law. I have to a certain degree kept up with news and developments in the field. I have written 16 term papers so far at law school - however, these were always on an assigned topic. I don't want to get any of them published, because most of them are social sciences and I want to rather work on a legal subject. My term paper on legal subjects are not exactly topics of contemporary significance, so again I don't see any merit in working on them.

My real trouble is I don't know how to figure out what to write on. Like how do you figure out where to begin searching for research gaps? Can someone please guide me? Thank you.
