Jindal is hated because it’s not affordable for most of them here. There is no other reason. Many could be jealous of its success and global standing. When they compare with their own college, they might feel depressed. Better to stay away and focus on your own college or so called university.

I am 43-year-old man, married for more than ten years, no kids. Both of us have been staying outside India all these years. My earlier jobs were on a contract due to which my wife had to follow me twice into new countries. She was a working professional before marriage, and the initial years in our married life impacted her career. But, she did manage to find for herself good positions in both countries. Over the last three years, she has been verbally abusive towards me, my friends as well as my immediate family members. I have been recording phone calls for more than two years where she is using foul and insulting language, and shouting at me. On two occasions she has slapped me across the face. During the second slapping incident, while I was trying to stop her from doing something dangerous, she dug her nails into my right wrist, which caused a noticeable injury. During one of her abusive episodes, I have used foul language for her once, but I have never hit or slap or attack her physically.

I have been ignoring her abusive behaviour because I acknowledge that my job has had an adverse impact on her career. However, I repeatedly ask myself for how long should continue to take the abuse lying down.

Currently, my wife is going through an episode of severe paranoia that someone is hacking her mobile and laptop. She has destroyed two of her phones, bought a new iPhone, and destroyed it after four days. She is currently in India, and thinks that her mother's phone is also hacked into. Today her aunt called me to inform me that my wife is hitting her mother. Over the past couple of years, she has hit her mother on a few occasions. I am afraid that if I go to India, sooner or later, I may be subjected to physical abuse again.

Given this situation, I see these two options in front of me:
1. serve a legal notice to her that such continued physical attacks from her, on anyone, would result in the initiation of divorce proceedings from my end
2. directly go for divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty

In Salt Lake there are quite a few plots of land sporting signboards of the state UD dept. Maybe these are plots that were not leased out or taken back from those who did not construct houses etc within the stipulated time.

Many of these plots host plant/flower nurseries and even construction dumping sites, such as sand, iron rods, pipes etc. I wonder whether the UD dept or local municipal corporation has any such scheme allowing these arrangements. I am reliably told that all these are organised with the support of local councillors and MLAs.

Most firms never introspect and change their ways. The word of a senior, no matter how toxic and despicable, is always believed over a junior (even if the junior is telling the truth).
