I'm the OP and to clarify I am one of the Day Zero offer holders, and am completely disappointed with the Process of RCC. I know the history of "Banned" firm and at this point it nothing but ego of that one professor. The kid because of whom the ban was placed is almost a SA.

I warned y’all about the fucked up logistics and opaque functioning of the RCC back in 2022 only, hopefully new students change -

a. The fudging up of marksheets/results to market students near and dear to RCC (sometimes the RCC themselves)

b. REDO THE PLACEMENT PROCESS - multiple offers to the same students rolled out on a staggered basis - RCC wake up ? No firm is gonna listen to you beg and whine to select students from the “second shortlist”.

c. Grow a spine - stop bending over backwards to any (non-tier one) fuckass firms and their weird unhinged deadlines and whims.

d. Bury the hatchet - either tell buddha to leave his position or atleast be receptive to inviting Khaitan again, y’all are MISSING OUT.

All in all lose the chip on your shoulder and think for the benefit of the entire batch not just the hogs in the RCC just because y’all saw seniors abusing their positions doesn’t mean y’all can’t change for the better.

Who is Dr Sandip Ghosh? Why is he so important to CM Kindness. Last time she risked almost everything was for Rajiv Kumar, IPS the then CP of Kolkata Police and now the DG of WBP. It was widely known (but not yet proven) that Rajiv Kumar had facilitated the destruction of key evidence in the Saradha scam case.

And now CM Kindness has repeatedly risked (since 2021 at least) her image and government for this Dr Sandip Ghosh? Is he at the same level as princeling AB?

SJA could do something better. Lodge a PIL that matters. The case itself is pretty uch dead with evidence lost/destroyed. Therefore the PIL should specifically target how the system failed or rather it was made to fail by those in positions of authority; and hence institute systemic reforms.

NUJS has very strong criminal law and forensic science faculty. Thus trained students know very well that this case is pretty much over because the evidence has been severely compromised if not totally destroyed. Another Kamduni/Sarada in the making.

Start somewhere. The longer you do this the gap on your CV grows. Take even a low paying job in a small place (you can afford it, clearly) and you will have something additional to show on your CV. More importantly you will gain valuable work experience - and in this profession any work experience is better than sitting at home. It may take 1-2 years after your first job but you will eventually be able to make the jump. Especially if your work makes you stand out. After taking up your first job, make sure you network and build connections at every opportunity. Work will provide you with plenty of those. Sitting at home won't.

Anyone who, like me, finds themselves doom-scrolling through Instagram will have noticed the uproar surrounding the RG Kar Medical College sexual assault incident. The outrage is understandable, perhaps even necessary. But what troubles me is the direction this fury has taken—ranging from sweeping condemnations of Indian men to questioning the very worth of celebrating India’s independence. Why is this happening? Can anyone explain? Shouldn’t our focus be on the actual perpetrators and the alarming administrative inaction that seems to be aiding a cover-up? There’s something unsettling about this entire narrative. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Associates are just fine - although I will say it’s a little cutthroat considering how one of them had a problem delegating pagination, lest an intern take credit for their work.

Was offered a TA position - likely to be around 15-25k a month, atleast for the first 4/5 months, unsure if it increases post that and what does it take to become a full A0. Different expectations and hiring outlook by different partners - can’t say which one I spoke to, without doxing myself. Very interesting and cutting edge work,,, don’t expect to be staffed on direct client facing matters for half a year tho (if that’s what you’re expecting)

They have not participated in it. But honestly speaking GLC won't even make to the list of top 20. There is no quality education, placements are declining, student quality is declining, no infrastructure, no support alot of internal politics. It is barely surviving because of it's location and past accolades. It had applied for NAAC rating recently and struggled to get a B+ rating (because 75% assessment was based on paperwork and 25% on student, parent professor interaction. College managed to do paperwork in time)

It appears that you have little to no knowledge about IDT practice. GST, VAT, Excise, Customs, International Trade, etc form part of IDT practice. In a country like India, with the economy growing at an average 6% annually, do you in your right senses think that there’s any dearth of work. If it was so, there wouldn’t be firms like ELP and LKS doing largely IDT work. Not to mention the big4s. Plus all the big law firms have IDT practice.

Now here’s the real deal. For lawyers, tax practice is competitive and challenging mostly because of lack of exposure to this area. The tough completion faced from CAs and finance professionals only adds to a lawyer’s worries. If you are a lawyer and doing taxes for 10 years and more, then you have faced the toughest completion that a lawyer in India faces professionally and most likely you have excelled at it. Those talking about the demise of IDT practice are the ones who have wilted in the face of tough competition from CAs and finance professionals and have decided to lay the blame elsewhere. This gives them a convenient escape.

Remember that no other legal practice, be it M&A or B&F or GC, faces the level of competition that a tax lawyer faces. Out here, you shine if you beat not just your fellow lawyer, but also your fellow CAs and finance guys. So stop laying the blame elsewhere and look within.
