That is a lie you may keep telling yourself, but the fact remains that NUJS has regularly and repeatedly produced legal professionals of all sorts throughout. That includes litigators, judges, policy researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, public servants and Rhodes scholars. The so-called real study of law that you boast of does not take place only at NLUD. Even in the last eleven years since NLUD has started, there is literally none of these fields other than UPSC where NUJS graduates have performed worse than NLUD graduates. Yet trolls like you will try to pass off otherwise, mostly because you are jealous of the university's reputation for corporate placements.

The fact that a comment stating that NLUD student quality is lower than NUSRL Ranchi's got +4 upvotes shows that there's no point trying to be objective on this site.

Wondering how many Rhodes scholars NUSRL Ranchi got and how many international moots it won or did well at. Just shocking.

95 people sat for placements this year, 33 got placed. The number of firms which come to NLUD are lesser in comparison to other colleges. Khaitan and AZB have stopped coming to our college since the past 3 years and I don't think they'll come ever again (due to NLUD students not willing to go to Mumbai). LKS was coming to day zero but withdrew. Indus also did not come to NLU D this year.

It feels bad that the students of my College are simply not willing to work hard enough to get jobs. I mean I have literally seen 10-10 people get RCC internships in Khaitan Noida when EVERYONE knows Khaitan Mumbai offers PPOs in one internships.

I'm an NLU Delhi student and yes the data is bad. I feel genuinely bad to see our students not work hard for PPOs etc. In a Pool of 95 students, placing 1/3rd, when other colleges are placing more than 75% students is shameful for me.

25 batch ,T2 NLU. Grades are above average, 0 pubs, and just one single T1 DR internship. no experience with any niche fields. I don't think I have any chances in terms of recruitment and sinking into a deep depression. Goal is to get into a DR team at a decent law firm with decent pay, work there for a while to build up a financial reserve, then move into regional litigation. Had LLM dreams (Singapore) but realistically, neither my grades nor my CV is good enough for it. have done a few moots, but nothing else.

Is it over? Can anyone help out with some advice?

That's a preposterous ranking and an irresponsible statement to make on a platform used by students. NLIU's placements have not been at par with GNLU, much less NLUD. CAM and some Mumbai based firms pick up from GNLU and most Delhi firms hire in big numbers from NLUD. NLUD lost some ground to JGLS but continues to be a premier institute for placements. GNLU has done really well in the last 4-5 years since the new director took over. NLIU has continued to steadily sit within its comfort zone.

Children from not so good law schools who only recieve rejection emails are their prime targets. The sectors at many of these colleges aren't really good but they give absolutely horrendous advice to their juniors. Till the time this disparity exists, I don't see these predators declining.

Before I start, I want to clarify that this is not to offend any student from any of the law institutes(Nlus or others) but rather a question I find myself asking as a first year student at a top 10 nlu. I was checking the placement reports of my institute and others also, and despite it being top 10 of country in placements, most probably, the reports are concerning. Only 10-20% of batch gets decent placements and 5-10% more in any job they can get. The condition is even worse in rest of lower NLUs with not even 5% of batch getting decent jobs. The 2024 placement reports of tier 1s are great though, I know not the best but good enough to consider law as a career and clat as an exam. Before proceeding further, I want to clarify that I am retaking clat with very good chances of getting a good tier 1 this time so it's not really for me entirely( "entirely" because I know a small percentage of even top nlus face this problem) and maybe it's worth mentioning also, to not attract criticism, that I like studying law but that's very very unrelated to this post. Now, especially for first generation lawyers, I wonder what the rest of batch at these NLUs or other law institutes do? I know judiciary, litigation, academia are the other options available in law aside from non law-related fields like upsc, mba or even startup. At most, 30-40% of any nlu's batch on average would be truly interested in these options( as in getting job was not in their priority at all, uninfluenced by their chances of getting one ). That leaves us with more than half the batch unplaced in top t2 nlus or jgls or slsp and even significantly more so in rest of lower NLUs and other law colleges. Now I will first talk about rest of career options and then people who only want jobs right out of college because of various reasons, many of which are not by choice. Firstly, in litigation, it's extremely tough to succeed without connections and same goes for getting promoted in judiciary field, the selection rate of which through pcs and later hjs exam is again extremely low. Then academia, that's a good option for people who want to continue their studies, research and teach later on but it's a option not taken by the most, and reasonably so in a country like India. Then there is upsc and mba left, which is open for everyone so the point of preparing for clat and then dedicating 5 years in law college, which can be gruelling, does not seem really attractive. Finally, I will conclude this post with the main question, that is, the people who want jobs but could not get decent placements( majority of t2 nlus and all of t3 nlus and other law schools), what do they do? Go for the other options mentioned above even if they don't want it and even though it's not really lucrative? Or is there a good way I have not become aware of yet that makes them not regret their law choice( a bold and exaggerated statement I know but just take the sense behind it ).

What appeared to be a thread discussing a student protest and its elements have now become a thread full of anonymous ad hominem attacks against individuals. This is completely unacceptable. LI is going to get yet another notice this way and then feature another apology with prominence. This is not constructive criticism, but plain trolling and mud -slinging.

He had appeared for AP interviews at nls in 22 and got a time period of one year to join. At the end of the year he decided to stay at NALSAR. The post remained vacant, and was waisted. Another person could have got this job. He appeared for AP interviews in 23 again got selected and was given an unprecedented full year to join and he joined in June 24. Sk waited for 2 long years for him.

Hi, I am as much as a well wisher of NLIU as you are. One thing about NLIU peeps I admire on LI is the fact that we go about our business, without posts over exaggerating what we do. The list provided above is from the message the Placement committee sent to all 5th Year students on Monday morning. If you would like further verification of this data, let me provide you some tidbits that you can confirm with your juniors:

a. The partners who turned up from CAM were both ex NLIU with the initials RC and BJ

b. SAM interviews were very technical

c. AZB, Saraf and Trilegal had GDs before shortlisting folks for the interviews

d. The Saraf partners were extremely rude and dismissive of answers to questions (this seems to be common across other institutes)

e. LKS interviewed for both IDT and Corporate Law, but only shortlisted students interested in IDT

Because rankings are not solely released based on placements, NIRF is a sham, they have parameters like perception and how do you objectively determine that? There is so much discrepancy in marks on the research parameter. it's not just about NLIU, many other NLUs deserve to be in the NIRF top 10, however random institutes are placed above them.

LPU is placed above RML and NLIU... seriously? and you consider NIRF as the deciding factor? This was one of the reasons why NLUJ stopped participating in the NIRF rankings because of its biased approach. So, could you clarify your facts and do more research because your comments show that you did not learn research skills in your law school?

Take the A0 salary. Judging by your experience, you will soon be irreplaceable and will be in a much better position to negotiate salary bumps. Partners will accelerate promotions if they see the worth in you.

Just get your foot in the door at this stage, then let your work speak for itself. I have seen it work for multiple people around me.

I am right in BML Munjal and there is some issues with the student population in law here which I find.

Can anyone please tell if Bennett University Law is good or not and should I think about about transferring there from Munjal?
