What this post also does is to debunk a long standing claim of NLS stans on this forum that most of their students are not interested in law firm jobs but consider themselves meant for 'greater things'. That's been an oft-parrotted lie. It would have debunked had they been transparent enough about their placement stats every year. They stopped doing so once other NLUs overtook them. This year, they are revealing it and it's clear that there is no difference between career outcomes of NLS grads and other NLU grads.

Median salary is not 20 LPA. It is a shame that students or admin from NLSIU are resorting to such blatant lies for PR's sake. I dare you to reveal the salaries offered by the recruiters and prove the median. Such a great place like NLS doesn't need to resort to such cheap tactics to promote itself. Shame on you!

Many NLUO grads I've spoken to about their college life have been miserable - because of the lack of facilities, lack of freedom, and lack of support from the admin. Good placements for a lower-tier NLU though.

RGNUL's placement stats are a mystery, but students seem to be doing well too as per their placement cell's linkedin. They are also chuffed about their campus and infra.

Choosing a college where you are going to stay for 5 years is not just a career decision, it's a life decision. Don't go by metrics that other people push

I've met most of your faculty. Distinctly below par compared to other places like NLSIU, NALSAR, NUJS, NLUD and even GNLU and NLUJ. All of them highly patriarchal, traditional and anachronistic, who have got very little idea about the industry requirements. Simply forcing you to submit a 3000 word essay on a random topic within a given date or else impose penalty isn't what academic rigour is all about. You don't have proper application based open book exams in almost any subject!

I do agree that the new faculties work hard but ultimately they are not good. It's absolutely not fair for a section to be taught by Somu while the other section is being taught by someone who does not understand the subject well.

I don't want to name the profs that are absolute shit. At least 1 prof that you have mentioned is hated by the majority of the students as well.

Wow. This is very mature of the students. And the VC isn't allowing classes to be rescheduled even on recruitment date? FFS, this is why one should actually get VCs who actually have any idea about how the real world works and not those who coast through life on their godfather 's coattails. I think it goes beyond the ‘mundane’ problems too. The ▮▮▮ we have is such a ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮. Students have complained against ▮▮▮ multiple times for victim blaming, saying the most terrible stuff about any student going through mental health problems, and threatening to call over parents/rusticate students from University if they ask for any help or resources. Yet not only nothing has happened against ▮▮▮, Sudhir made ▮▮▮ the first point of contact for anyone having any mental health trouble in his new policy!! (Which is such a shit show) It's beyond admin stuff. He truly, truly does not care about kids here at all. Maybe the overall reputation of the institution yes, but the students who make it? No care.

We want to get him under control in certain aspects, none of this absolves him of the things he has pulled (which I'll refrain from mentioning for now, but students aren't idiots who wake up and decide to resign en masse)

Some of those NLU alum you mention are terrible. 0 experience, we've got situations where you have an extremely experienced prof who teaches one section, and a professor who graduated 2 years ago teaching another section. The disparities are too big to simply say different teaching methods.

I don't think you understand why students are unhappy if you think it is about grade inflation. That may be a concern for a few students, but generalising the entire student body's concerns to something that is indefensible. Harping the same lines over and over does not justify the nonsense he pulls on a regular basis

The protests do not entail skipping classes. There is no question of losing attendance. I agree that he never cared about student activities, but journal chiefs have resigned, MCS isn't holding any offerings for the foreseeable future. It will be hard for him to coordinate anything at all with the student body now, atleast we hope it will be. Plus, the admin has been burdened much more now, all the complaints go straight to them without a student intermediary attempting to fix any issue. Anything that would negatively affect students has been avoided to the extent that is possible.

The point is to show cohesion and strength as the student body, which is unprecedented. So far, student body was very disorganised and most people simply accepted that the college was the way it was. If not for anything, we know for a fact that the Messiah cares about his image and it wouldn't reflect well if something unprecedented like this were to happen. (He is particularly sensitive to stuff like this).

Outsiders now know that the student body is incredibly unhappy with him, but if he ignores this for too long, well, it is only a matter of time before someone answers the questions asking why exactly the student body is unhappy. Most of our reasons are mundane, yes, but show how he is unreasonable. But some of it is sensitive, and personal to some students, and shows how the admin stoops very low sometimes. None of it will paint him in a positive light for sure.

A hearing took place on 24 July, presided by Justice Sanjiv Narula. Liang's counsel sought 4 weeks time to file a rejoinder to the counter-affidavit field by the survivor. The next hearing was pushed to 5 December.

Current status: 5 years and 4 months have passed since the filing of the case. 15 hearings have taken place. We are still at the stage of filing submissions and counter-submissions.

Hi everyone, had a query regarding the academic referee requirements for an LLM. I have been a research assistant to a few professors in law school, but these professors are not faculty in my college (in any capacity). Can I still use them as an academic referee, or does it have to be someone from the same institutional affiliation as my college?

As you know, CLAT coaching centres across India pay NLU alumni to give talks to school kids on law as a career. I got an offer to visit one such coaching centre, to speak at a school, and I accepted. 😆

My talk was meant for the class 10/11/12 students, but these kids had some last-minute issue so instead I spoke with class 8/9 students — proper Gen Alpha! 🥲

Here are the questions I was asked:

1. “ How many NLU grads get 1 cr packages?” (I had to burst their bubble)

2. “What percentage of NLU grads get jobs in New York and London?” (also had to burst their bubble)

3. “I want to study at Harvard Law School. What’s the process?” (explained JD versus LLM)

4. “How do NLUs support decolonisation”? (I asked the student if she knew what the word means and she said it means “like supporting freedom for Palestine and Ukraine and all”— so I just gave a bland answer about international law student societies and journals)

5. “How do NLUs support queer and pansexual students?” (I didn’t know what “pansexual” means, so I gave a generic answer that all sexualities are welcomed and supported).

6. “Can a NLU grad practice law in Korea?” (I asked her why she was interested in Korea: she said she liked KDramas on law and wanted to live and work in Korea)

I am graduating from a T1-NLU next year. I have been offered the following options - Trilegal (Projects), CAM (M&A) and AZB. CAM/AZB are Bombay, and Trilegal said they could be flexible with location (I'm from a non-metro city). I want to do an LLM in 2-3 years (US ideally). Which of these would be ideal to accept? My parents are upper-middle class, so I won't be asking them to subsidise my lifestyle anymore.
