* Tie-breaker rule: If two or more teams have the same points, their rank shall be decided based on their respective points in different tiers, with the team with the most points in a higher tier winning the tie-break. For instance, if team A and team B have 10 points each (where team A has earned its 10 points from a tier 1 moot and team B has earned its 10 points from a tier 3 moot), team A shall be ranked higher than team B. Furthermore, if the tied teams have earned the same points in the same tiers (in the above example, team A and team B both earned 5 points in tier 1 and 5 points from tier 3) the team which has registered more total wins across all tiers will be ranked higher. The criteria thereafter will be the number of wins followed by number of runners-up, semi-finalists, best memorandum, best speaker, best researcher and honourable mention (in that order).

We included this moot retrospectively since it was preferable to include the 2010 competition, rather than wait a month for the result at the end of the MPL in July 2011.
* We had also introduced a significant change in the points awarded in Tier 3, 4 and 5 competitions. The points for runners-up and semifinalists in these tiers have been considerably reduced, to increase the value of winning a competition. Now the runner-up place is worth 50 per cent of the points of the winner, and the semi-finalists are worth 25 per cent each of the maximum. This reflects the odds of winning outright in the semi-finals and the finals, being 1 in 4, and 1 in 2 respectively and is therefore more objective. Tiers 1 and 2 have remained unchanged to reflect the difficulty of reaching even the knock-out rounds in those competitions.

GNLU also offers a LL.M degree (Masters) which is devised with a view to producing competent teachers and researchers. The syllabus is based on the UGC’s Model Syllabus on Law 2001. The Course is of two year duration with four semesters.

Professor Dr. Bimal N. Patel is the Director (Vice Chancellor) of the University. Mr. Patel is a scholar and academician of international law and diplomacy. Initially, the University had its own Entrance Examination for admission to the five years integrated Law Courses. From 2008, GNLU became a part of the Organizing Committee of the '''Common Law Admission Test''' (CLAT), a national level entrance test for admissions to the most of the National Law Schools in India.
Students seeking admission have to write the CLAT and the admissions are based on the rankings of the CLAT. The Test applies to both LLB and LLM admissions.

The University currently houses its students in its temporary quarters which were government quarters earlier. The quarters consists of 34 blocks, along with two dining halls (Mess). Each Block consists of twelve rooms accommodating two people. The Rooms are well spacious and have an attached bathroom, toilet and kitchen space.

The University houses a modest Library containing a wide range of books and journals. The Library is housed on the second floor of the University Building. The Library Timings are 9:30 am to 9:00 pm.

The Reading Room, though not air conditioned, provides space for peaceful reading.

The University facilitates the use of an air conditioned Computer Lab which is located on the second floor of the University Building. Wireless Internet Connectivity is provided in the Hostel Blocks.

GNLU is the seventh National Law School to be set up in India. The University offers an integrated graduation course of Law and a stream paper. The Stream paper options are Arts, Science and Commerce. The five year course is divided into ten semesters.

GNLU also offers a LL.M degree (Masters) which is devised with a view to producing competent teachers and researchers. The syllabus is based on the UGC’s Model Syllabus on Law 2001. The Course is of two year duration with four semesters.

Professor Dr. Bimal N. Patel is the Director (Vice Chancellor) of the University. Mr. Patel is a scholar and academician of international law and diplomacy. He has prepared administrative, procedural and substantive jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal (Geneva).He has delivered numerous lectures, including one in Cambridge University, UK and has received several honors. <ref>[http://www.gnlu.ac.in/directorViceChancellor.htm "Profile of the (Director) Vice Chancellor"]</ref>

Initially, the University had its own Entrance Examination for admission to the five years integrated Law Courses. From 2008, GNLU became a part of the Organizing Committee of the '''Common Law Admission Test''' (CLAT), a national level entrance test for admissions to the most of the National Law Schools in India.
Students seeking admission have to write the CLAT and the admissions are based on the rankings of the CLAT. The Test applies to both LLB and LLM admissions.

The University Building is 2.5 kms from the Hostels. It consists of air conditioned Class Rooms, Library, Reading Room, Computer Lab and Faculty Chambers.The Students commute between the College and the Hostels by Buses arranged by the University.

The University currently houses its students in its temporary quarters which were government quarters earlier. The quarters consists of 34 blocks, along with two dining halls (Mess). Each Block consists of twelve rooms accommodating two people. The Rooms are well spacious and have an attached bathroom, toilet and kitchen space.

===Library and Reading Room===
The University houses a modest Library containing a wide range of books and journals. The Library is housed on the second floor of the University Building. The Library Timings are 9:30 am to 9:00 pm.

The Reading Room, though not air conditioned, provides space for peaceful reading.

===Internet Infrastructure===
The University facilitates the use of an air conditioned Computer Lab which is located on the second floor of the University Building. Wireless Internet Connectivity is provided in the Hostel Blocks.

The University currently subscribes to the following research databases: JSTOR, Manupatra and West Law.

Mooting is the most popular extra-curricular activity that is pursued with great zeal by the students.
