Bharati Shroff, the largest single equity holder in Amarchand Mangaldas and mother of managing partners Cyril and Shardul Shroff, passed away earlier today.
Bharati Shroff was the wife of Suresh Shroff who died in 1994, and she continued playing an important role in the management of the firm and was a member of the firm’s management committee.
A private cremation ceremony will take place tomorrow and the firm’s offices will be closed.
A former Amarchand partner commented that she had a warm personality and was widely respected and “extremely loved by all”.

condolences to family.
I believe she practised in real estate and until recently she still had a number of clients that she advised. I met her once around two years ago and she seemed like a remarkable human being with a lot of zest for life.
She was indeed quite remarkable and will be missed.
While I do not want to take the attention away from the demise of Mrs. Shroff and the sorrow that is being expressed in the comments, Kian, any news on who is inheriting the equity she held? That could have implications for AMSS and the Indian legal industry.
PS. I have doubs that you are an AMSS-lawyer.

Comment moderation policy to now have heart too? Jyada ho gaya, nahi?
Issues such as those that you have raised are at best relevant those who derive a living from it. An internal matter, that can, will and should be resolved only internally - and ideally with the support of sound professional-advise and values.
Nevertheless, I do now understand that stopping douche-ness of the sort that you are indulging in, is a wasted effort.

She was a very kind human being and very gentle to all her staff members across all offices of Amarchand Mangaldas i.e. Mumbai, Delhi or any other state. First of all my experience with Ma’am was little bit i.e. one day or two day work. Her experience in the field of finance was so commanding that no one match her. We start work in the morning and at the end of day Ma’am completed one full agreement with single handedly with all corrections with a special way (Ma’am put her corrected document in a single page with staples like ‘jnam patri’) so that documents never misplaced and we done corrections very efficiently and then Ma’am forward final documents to client.
We all miss you and your blessings Ma'am.
