Daruwala, who told Legally India he wanted to join a start up, resigned from Juris Corp on 15 February after a seven year stint at the firm where he was partner in-charge of the Direct Taxes and IPR practice areas.

He has over two decades of experience in direct taxation with special expertise in cross border taxation issues and transfer pricing. His extensive knowledge of IPR includes appearances before the controller of patents, registrar of trademarks, intellectual property appellate board and the Bombay high court, according to NLO.

Besides being a rank-holding Chartered Accountant and an LLM gold medalist from Mumbai University, Daruwala is also one of the leading authorities in India for transfer pricing and has recently co-authored a book titled “Practical guide to Indian Transfer Pricing” commissioned by The Chambers of Tax Consultants.

Daruwala has also worked as the commercial director at marketing and advertising company Madison communications, and Nasikwala believes that his expertise in allied fields like accounting, audit, valuation, MIS and treasury functions is remarkable and will go a long way in enhancing the reputation of NLO while providing diversity to the firm’s existing practice areas.

Nasikwala who was a partner at Juris Corp until April 2011, had left the firm to venture into independent practice, starting NLO focusing primarily on dispute resolution, real estate and arbitration. He aimed at converting it into a full service law firm five years down the line, he told Legally India, provided he had like-minded people joining hands with him.
