Luthra & Luthra and Dua Associates are dead certs to qualify for the quarter finals in Delhi’s Twenty20 Cup for Law Firms after topping each of their respective pools though for six other teams anything is still possible.

Defending champions Luthra ended up topping Pool A after bowling out Amarchand last weekend, giving the firm a perfect tally of 10 points with one match still to play.

Luthra’s opening bowler (and associate) Sachit Mathur said: “We had scored 176 and given [Amarchand] a target of 177.”

He added that Luthra then bowled out Amarchand at 128 runs in the 18th over, with Luthra batsmen (and associates) Tarun Mehreshi (pictured) and Prashant Mishra both scoring half-centuries, with Mehrishi also winning man of the match.

In Pool A, the fight is now on between Amarchand and Bhasin & Co, which are both tied on four points although Amarchand is burdened with a difficult net run rate (NRR) of -1.45.

Titus is not looking in such good shape at no points.

The top two teams out of each pool automatically qualify for the quarter finals, although two other teams will also be selected.

In Pool B, Dua Associates has certainly qualified, despite its defeat at the hands of Kohli & Sobti, whose batter Manish Dua laid down a monster 63 runs including 10 fours.

Both teams have played all their games but Anand & Anand could still sneak into the first two places if it manages a victory with a bonus point against Saikrishna Associates, which currently languishes at zero points.

In Pool C, on the other hand, everything is still up for grabs although Trilegal is in a strong position after only one game played as a convincing win against Lall & Sethi for 5 points.

The star Trilegal batsman Jeetu racked up 83 runs, including six sixes remaining standing at the crease until the end of the game.

Desai & Diwanji, Suri & Co and Lall & Sethi are all tied at four points with one win each, although Desai and Suri still have one more game to play.

It promises to be tight and we will cover the run-up to the knock-out rounds and the final that will take place in December.

Can you broadcast it live on the internet via a live feed? Through legallyindia? You can pay for the expenses incurred in arranging this live viewing with the advertising revenue the sponsors of the event (if any) can generate by having viewers log on to a particular URL and mandatorily click on their ads. The Sri Lanka and India test matches are a drag. This ought to be better entertainment. And with live feed, it could well be.

I wish Luthra & Luthra all the best for the present T20 cup. It’s the third consecutive defeat of Amarchand by Luthra & Luthra. Prashant Mishra and Tarun Maherishi are undoubtedly the best batsman among all the teams. Good to know that Ajay Sondhi (Ravalpindi Express) is back with bang in team after injury last year.

Cheers!

Like in the official version of T20, certain mnumber of foreign players (oops... I mean forewign lawyers!!) should be permitted to form part of each franchise... while it may not necessarily add talent, it surely will add colour!!

Maybe permit teams of Trilegal, T&T and AZB to rope it players from their best friends!!
