Hi Seniors in PE/VC teams and fellows colleagues I feel it takes me a lot of time to draft and finalise or review Transaction Agreements such as Sha Ssa etc. What is the reasonable if asked by me to complete those tasks is fine without being viewed as incompetent . Please help ?

Hey all, I am a freshman at a good t2 nlu. Orientations have been going on for various committees every single day and I am attending all along with classes but I am not interested in joining those except the ones which can help my corporate law aim. Now ik grades r most necessary for jobs so I want to invest my time and energy in academics and not in a committee I don't even like but just have joined to "socialise and show something on cv"? So my question is which committees, if any, helped y'all to have an edge in corporate law placements or PPOs? Please if u can name those committees and how it helped u and where should I invest my time and energy the most, I would really appreciate it.

A lot of us are under the impression that being part of a tier 1 law school inevitably leads to good opportunities for all, but I realised today that it's not the case. I met some people on LinkedIn today who are from NLS and aren't doing that well in life. Are there people like that here who would like to share their experiences? I am two years in law school and contemplating changing streams despite being in a T1. Would appreciate hearing any inputs/personal stories/experiences etc. Thanks.

focus on your answer writing, handwriting matters a lot. Make some diagrams or graph to represent the facts, make the answer more lengthy. Underline the keywords in your answer, also use blackpen/pencil in your paper, along with blue.

I know these are very small things, and it may sound childish. But these tips can make a huge difference. Always look from the perspective of a teacher, out of 60 copies, they can't just read everything, if you make the task easy for them that means there is a right impression. There will bleak scope of marks deduction.

If you're eyeing a corporate law position in T1s or well-paying T2s, then yes, make the switch. Getting a T1 offer while being from NUSRL is almost like winning a lottery — it's rare and would happen entirely because of your efforts regardless of whether you're in NUSRL or not.

PS: NUALS isn't significantly better, but at least you've got a wider alumni base and firms deem it a half-decent college, which is more than something that could be said about colleges like NUSRL.

Most SAs & AORs who've studied from well-known universities actually check their emails. Build an excellent CV, attach well-drafted samples of research papers, and get references from people you've interned under. Eventually, you'll get a response — of course, it'll come faster if you're from a well-known university yourself.

Just an update on this. If anyone is preparing for Kerala Judicial services, a full bench of the Kerala High court has mandated a three year minimum practise requirement. So any freshers preparing please be warned. This may be challenged in the Supreme Court, but I would urge everyone who does not have the required experience to not depend on this exam, if possible prepare for other judicial service exams.

From my experience of working for a number of great bosses and a rated toxic bosses, I can list down the qualities of toxic MoFos:

i. Micro-Manager - These insecure bunch would try to micromanage even the smallest one liner email to the client.

ii. Aversion to keeping a record by the Juniors - If your senior or boss shows a general disdain at your attempt to note down the instructions being given, you have identified an A rated ________ . The reason being if you manage to note down the instructions successfully, these so called bosses won't have any opportunity to rebuke you. These set of people also prefer communicating over landline numbers, instead of an email.

iii. The bosses while coming by cars will reach office late, but won't tolerate you being late by few minutes even if you use public transport.

iv. These set of people called toxic bosses will sell you pieces of land on moon at the interview stage and then will force you to do clerical work like preparing excel sheet and running to Government offices.

v. These so called toxic bosses won't mind taking leaves given to them, but will suffer diarrhea if you ask for leaves, even after you have completed your work and have got no work at all.

vi. These so called bosses will keep a track on what you are reading, even when there is no work - billable or non-billable.

vii. These so called toxicity manufacturers will not raise any issue with you pertaining to narration of work done. Instead they will use this opportunity to get away from their boring work and will pin the blame on the junior stating that they are at fault.

viii. These insecure people will give you more work on non-billable and won't even comment on the work submitted. Instead they will try to trivialize the hard work being put and will try to find out small errors.

You first decide which place you want to settle in and apply accordingly. Also try to see if any of the KCO Gen Corp Partners are from your NLU and try to forge a connection accordingly. However, prior to selecting a team, do try to find out if they plan to expand and / or if the team is open to push for you. In law firm set-ups while some seniors do push for their juniors, many just follow whosoever the HR assigns them. So try to choose your team only after doing due diligence.

Hi, if the original agreement has been properly stamped, does a subsequent amendment to it also need to be stamped? Is there any specific entry in the Indian Stamp Act or any State specific legislation that deals with this or gives exemption to this. It would seem really counterproductive to stamp the amendment for the same amount as the original agreement, I mean I have already paid all the stamp duty, why should I pay again?

Send an email to the HR requesting for an assessment internship. Alternatively, you can apply for an internship for a month and during the course of your internship, inform the team that you'd like to be considered for an assessment internship. Depending upon the need, they might convert your internship into an assessment internship or call you back for another round.

The attrition rate in the team is very high. They've got you doing tasks that are basically clerical work with a fancy title. Very toxic culture too. Good luck!

I am also trying to figure out adhd as I believe some part of it i.e- hyperfocus on things I like it good but the constant feeling of hating everything that I end up doing for a long time is not going to be good for me in the long term.

I do not have to support my parents and I do not have any responsibilities so as long as I can support myself and I am content with myself, my parents are happy. I will definitely not fall into this for the money.

I will come back to this thread when I graduate and let you all know what happened and what I am planning.

I am a middle class student from a tier 2 NLU that does not sponsor moot competition participation and I do not have the financial resources to spend money on my own for the moot travel expenses. I do have enough reputed blog publications at tier 1 NLUs and I have decent grades. I would like to know how impactful would moot courts be considering the publications and grades I have for my CV and PPO chances. Does no moot mean no PPO ?
