We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

As a believer in free markets and meritocracy, and an opponent of welfarism and identity politics, I worry about the future of the country and my own future. My sister has settled abroad and I will try to do the same now.
If CBN sticks with NDA its modi sarkar all the way
1. Muslim vote bank consolidation pan India. Because the BJP has treated Muslims badly.
2. Dalits in UP who vote for Mayawati shifting to the Congress and Samajwadi party. Because Dalits were attracted by Rahul Gandhiβs promise of private sector reservations.
3. In West Bengal, where there is high unemployment and lack of industries, poor people voting for Mamata Banerjee because she increased the Lakshmir Bhandar dole amount. Because poor and unemployed people need doles and will take it from whoever gives it.
4. People in Maharashtra rejecting the BJPβs dirty politics of splitting parties and the poor performance of CM Shinde.
5. Well-off Hindu BJP voters not voting in high numbers pan India because of the heatwave, travelling on holiday etc.
6. Because Gen Z is unemployed and frustrated, as evident from the result in Punjab where independent candidates demanding Khalistan won, including one in jail.
7. Because Gen Z follows Dhruv Rathee.
Pissed off a lot of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, UP youth. Very badly.
Lack of Government Jobs - Because of BJPs fiscal conservative policy they slashed government recruitment.
India is a poor country. Crores of youth dream of the few government jobs. When these few government jobs are cut. It will make youth anrgy.
2. Lack of Freebies
Rahul promised freebies which cannot be given even if entire Indian budget is given as freebies.
Women are BJP Voters. INDIA ALLIANCE got women voters because of FREEBIES politics.
3. Caste Politics
Hindus are not united. They will never be. But opposition did a good job at Caste politics.
BJP never understood caste dynamics.
Caste Politics works very well in India. That's why SP won in UP.
MUSLIM Unity - Muslims strategically voted for India Alliance.
4. Youth Unemployment
India could never make jobs like China. Even with Modi's reforms. Employment generation was very slow.
Just imagine this -
India's biggest tier 1 law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Trilegal has less than 1000 lawyers.
One Chinese tier 1 firm (DENTONS) has 7000 lawyers within China prc and 3000 outside.
India never had manufacturing jobs even with Modi reforms.
China generated 40 crore manufacturing jobs. India barely has generated 4 crore manufacturing jobs. Very low.
5. Dhruv Rathee, Better INDIA Alliance PR
BJP got God complex.
6. RSS BJP Infighting
BJP and RSS are at a cold ear over past 3 years. RSS did all dirty work for BJP and never got any credit. This time RSS didn't work for BJP. And taught them a lesson.
7. Big bang reforms without understanding people's choices
For Example -
Farm Laws, Labour Reforms are excellent for the country. But people hate it. You loose votes when you do it.
India doesn't do reforms unless we have a gun pointed at us (LPG Reforms at 1990s and Nuclear Testing happened because we had no option)
will my credentials (private law school and 1st yr)work against me in my submission? How long does their team take to respond? I do not know whether my articles are worthy of publication in NLS blogs. However, what i do know is that i worked hard to research and write that article so i want to get it published at least somewhere but I have seen many comments on LI itself that their team is very un-responsive to submissions and got scared. What time should i wait for them to consider my blog and if they do not give a reply in suppose a month can i write a mail to them informing them that I am taking back my submission and submit it for consideration elsewhere or will it become useless if they do not respond. This is coming from someone who has gone through the pain of cold mailing for the first time while searching for internships and who got happy on even seeing a rejection mail from some of them.
Firm can never ask you to pay any compensation.
Notice period is Bullshit and illegal in the Indian Context. Ashneer Grover.
Hypothetically, if either the BJP or the Congress/Left had not contested, Mamata would not be CM and NUJS would either return to the control of the Left or be under a BJP dispensation.
Thus, the SJA should not be dispirited and continue the fight.
I thought I understood the mood of the poor masses by speaking with Uber drivers and Starbucks waiters (who all told me that they support Modi) but now I realise that Uber drivers and Starbucks waiters arenβt the masses. They are actually lower middle class and educated up to class 12 at least, which places them in the top half of the Indian population and not the bottom half.
Coming to my stocks, I bet on two small companies owned a fixer close to the BJP. My best bet is that he gets some government contracts and the stocks rise, plus there is a bull run post the monsoon and some boosters from the government. I will exit the market entirely after that, because I donβt see this government lasting for 5 years.
Bikta bhi hai itna??
Why is the left so preoccupied with Palestine?
The thing is, it's difficult for me to write as I have to stick my entire face to the notebook to do so. But I'm technically not "blind" either so I'm stuck in this limbo where I'm basically blind but can't get the special amenities that a blind person has.
I struggle in practical subjects like accounting in which you must solve numerous problems to grasp concepts, which seems impossible for me since I'm unable to write.
I cleared all my subjects but only 2 subjects are backlogs, these subjects being heavily practical and no theory.
I feel like maybe it's my fault, maybe I'm just lazy and can't put in some hard work and am just looking for sympathy, but I truly feel that I'm unable to clear this subject. And if I don't, I won't be able to graduate, which puts enormous tension on me since without graduation I don't think I can land a job.
What should I do? I feel like I'm being forced to compete with normal-sighted people even though I'm 80% blind. The only "benefit" I get is 30 minutes extra time for exams and that's it.
What do I do in this situation?
But do note that this is a problem that persisted before the new VC-it has nothing to do with the actions of the VC. The new VC has brought no changes regarding the marking scheme or the testing scheme. Rather, batches that have seen mass failing (40+ students in multiple subjects) are trying to find avenues to clear papers.
There are some profs who do expect rigour from their students. And I am with them when they do fail students. But there are a few who are not even competent to teach their own papers (case in point: family law paper). When those profs wantonly fail students, these failing students get a chance to raise questions at the marking schemes of all the professors (regardless good or bad).
There is no gripe with the VC regarding this. He is just the authority listening to people cry.
Itβs absolutely fine that Rahul Gandhi made a sarcastic remark about Adani yesterday and itβs absolutely fine if NLU students retweet it. But also remember this: certain T1 law firms make a lot of their money from advising Adani companies and recruit NLU students for that purpose. The poorer Adani gets, the less likely it is that these law firms will get work.
Of course, there are abundant opportunities to work as juniors to Supreme Court, High Court and trial court lawyers. No worries about finding a job with them. But last I checked, they donβt exactly pay well.
Note that one of RaGaβs closest advisors is former NLSIU VC Mohan Gopal.

1. The TMC leaders and their supporters in the governing bodies become emboldened. As does the VC.
2. The CJI and Justice Dipankar Datta back off and ignore the student letter.
3. Many neutral people back off, knowing that the TMC could come into power.
