1. Ignore the recommendations of therapy etc. Therapy is not some magical cure all. It is totally useless without internal self analysis. Analyse and introspect and find out why you got paralysed at work. It is most likely a fear of failure which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Accept that you will make mistakes and will fail and you should make it to the other side. There is nothing to fear, certainly not failure. Throw yourself into another internship and into whatever you do, with full force and energy and confidence.
2. If step 1 does not work, you must consider whether you are cut out for the profession at all. I love the double bass as an instrument but I cannot play it for a lick. So I listen to it and donβt play it.
These are your two options. Do not waste a moment in self pity or in paralysis. Move forward.

What the BJP is trying to do now is consolidate Hindu votes across the board. This strategy will work in some seats, but not all.
The most damning allegation is that the complainant attempted to present her case before the EC in December 2023, but NKC was present and refused to recuse despite being asked to. Apparently neither DD nor other judges present there noticed the clear conflict of interest. Obviously the complainant felt unsafe there and decided against presenting her case.
So much happening with this case. Of course there is the political meat. But what explains the police (over)zealousness? Where does this promptness disappear whenever it involves anyone remotely connected with the regime (past, present and likely in the future as well)??
What's the update on the other WP by this associate professor?
By the way what is the big UGC scam the concerned Associate Prof is alleging the VC hushed up? PIB buried the Justice PN Sinha Inquiry Report. NKC used his saffron connections to get the UGC to accept dodgy utilisation certificates. Is this a new scam or is the Associate Prof inconveniently (for VC) raking up the Justice Sinha Inquiry Report?
Irony. It was Justice Dipankar Dutta who had initiated that inquiry by a former Cal HC judge and that Report was damning. Has this SJA even read it? Does it even know about it and how the report was a consequence of SJA action? How SJA kept fighting for follow-up action but PIB and Justice (Retd) Amit Talukdar (as Acting VC) stonewalled.
Now Justice Dutta will be giving VC a second term despite the latter's pronounced role in the burial of that Inquiry Report. Such is life!
And what is the SJA doing?
The issue of Justice Chanda being a former BJP "lawyer" has been discussed and addressed threadbare in a litigation that was launched by the Kind Lady herself. But she is a politically savvy person and knows her voters very well. So she keeps spinning old records selectively.
Then again despite all the fire and brimstone Dhankar became Veep. Remember the photo-op with Assam CM and Dhankar? Remember Hamlet but don't become one.
At any rate, the backdoor via BSc LLB, MSc courses; fattening the admin layer and recruitment spree; galloping construction and rental tenders et al have ensured the RoI that PIB had failed to deliver. It was never just SJA action that made PIB a liability for the powers that be at TMC (esp the KB-KD faction).
And let's go slow with BJP vs TMC. The "setting" is for real despite all the hoopla. Such things have always existed among political parties and will be a constant in future as well. Sheeps like us wouldn't understand but must remain aware lest we become lunch.
Prof Menon was stiffly opposed by so many in the Left because of his long standing saffron sympathies. MPS got the job because Cong-Left were in UPA and so the discordant Left voices were hushed. PIB was a known saffron sympathiser when he got the job. You may say that he squeaked in during Left-TMC transition. But why did TMC continue with him, handing him a second term despite the damning Justice (Retd) PN Sinha Inquiry Report and SJA protests? Why did SJA fail then (2016) but succeed in 2018?
the academic requirement is min 65%+ for NLUs and being at least in the top 20% of the batch
your referees will be asked to select from a drop down list as to where they will put you intellectually etc. even if they put you in top 5% if your scores are not within top 20% gradewise then there is a disconnect and oxford will not take the application forward
the other way is to get reco from someone very influential either politically or a famous oxford alum etc. you have to spin a story that you are assistant of this person etc., your social work is the mitigating factor for your poor grade etc. and you want to change the world. My suggestion is to either get to union cabinet minister or a chief minister and get a reco.
just take a look at the profile book and who got in from India - if you are not in the top 5, then no chance
2. Yes but depends on the firm really.
3. Only from the firm.
4. No, in case your prospective employer asks for the certificate or reaches out to the firm for reference (they don't but still), you are fucked!
1. Can they take legal action ?
2. Will I get a negative reference?
3. Am I blacklisted just from just that firm/practice area or everywhere?
4. Is it worth mentioning in the CV since I won't be getting the cert?
Need guidance as to when I should switch firms, how much I should save and is llm worth considering?
why is there so much of difference? Is there any reason behind it (just curious)
saloni.pasi@pblawoffices.com (I do not know if this person is still working there)
I called them and asked for the above mail IDs about two years back. If a firm does not respond to your application, there is no harm calling them over the phone and asking them for details.
I did not followed up with HR or anyone's but got my email asking for CV after 5 months. Interviews took another 2 months. Got my PPO.
P.S. I got my PPO in 4th year and I have also been told that the process is faster for final year students.
Any insights on appraisals will also be appreciated. Thanks!
Kids, the risk to reward ratio isnβt worth it.
To βsourceβ - Please let me know if your net worth comes in top 20 in India, or even top 50. Maybe Iβm wrong and the risk reward is great.
I realized only in the fourth year truly that I'm not really cut out for this field. I have a heart condition and cannot work those long hours in litigation and corporate law firms. I have done only a grand total of 3 offilne internships (1 at T1 Disputes, 2 at general IP boutique firms). I bombed at all of them due to my lethargy. Rest all were online internships which I found on law bhoomi or lawoctopus since I never had contacts to secure otherwise. Now my confusion is shall I look for jobs in the legal sector or just take a mindless BPO job for 30k? If I'm being honest I only want a job that pays somewhat decent and working hours are not that stringent so that I can get enough time to play video games later. I have heard that law officers at PSU's may fit that bill. Shall I attempt CLAT pg later this year along with BPO? Or is too late to start prep? any other viable career option? Any advise or suggestions would be welcomed. No trolls please.
Recently a senior told me about litigation in law firms, i am genuinely interested but donβt know how can one reach upto that position (he said only top lawyers get selected for it) and how different should my CV be for that?
Do they offer that kind of ROI considering for someone coming from a middle class family who might take a loan for that, all i know is college is good academically and has top class alumni base
Coming to your situation, I am facing a similar hell for some years now, and this has worked for me to an extent (albeit, I am still psychologically dead, and have very much trouble making meaningful friendships and relationships in law school (just dated 4 girls in the past few years and ended on very bad terms, possibly ruining their outlook on relationships as well)
1. Maintain less contact- Dont visit home, go on internships in vacations
2. Ace your academics, and spend a lot of time focussing on studies. The comfortable backing of loving parents that your batchmates have, isn't going to work out for you. After a certain age in life, people are averse to changing their outlook and emotional stance over time, do NOT expect them to change ever. Get top grades and aim for a job placement ASAP in your fourth year itself.
3. Speak to your bank manager and try getting the terms lightened, like giving you a gap
4. Try getting sources of earning income. Anything, YouTube, long term internships, just open linkedin and keep applying everywhere regardless of JD. Lie on your CV. Anything. This will help you slowly grow less dependent on your parents. Until this, keep your expenses low when it is derived from them.
5. Please please make friends. Such situations drain you emotionally and you do need stuff apart from acads as well to help you survive law school.
6. If you have ancestral property/ business, try speaking to a lawyer and getting your share asap.
