We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Never understood the point of asking figures if they're not being presented with an opportunity to get themselves placed.
I want to perform good. In spite of all the toxicity, long hours, etc. I really want to give my best shot at this. I am come from a lower middle class background and the money is very very important to me. I don't want to look or sound stupid when I go there. I am already very intimated by the kind of people you find at T1 firms.
Even non-work related tips would help. Anything I should read/learn/do to fit in well in the firm? Things that are appreciated/frowned upon. Please don't put trollish responses. I really need some valuable inputs. Sincere responses here will decide how I spend my days before joining. Will be grateful to the LI community 🙏
Also, Mods I feel a lot of kids are in the same boat currently. Could you please mark this as featured so that more people can benefit from this thread? Thanks a lot.
We hear stories of unethical and corrupt lawyers. Well, this is where it begins!
Commendable though. Good to see somebody taking a step in the right direction!
"Where's the liberal outrage here for unbiased and independent journalism? Why should any viewer consider the content or the narratives platformed on The Wire as gospel truth and not INDI Alliance election propaganda?"
The post is clearly disingenuous. 'Liberal outrage' is intended as trollish. For some reason the response decided to not engage with the subject, which was a lawyer / politician talking about stuff that could be of interest to lawyers.
Instead the post went ad hominem on The Wire, which while not perfect and definitely having an ideological slant in nowadays' polarised environment, is still for the most part doing real jorunalism.
Please deal with the facts and arguments, not political mudslinging.
Please advise
Does anyone have a clue about what the joining date for CAM A0s are for the 2024 batch. I know that the email for location and seat preferences happened first week of May.
Realistically, when do you think the joining will be? Is it likely to be as late as last week of August like it happened to the 2023 batch?
I’m just anxious about figuring out living situation.
Equity partner gets clients for BLR office. Keeps running around all day to get BD Done.
I know where it goes from here- "if its relevant, it doesnt hurt anyone" to "if it hurts people, then I/ my side dont mean it" to " if we do mean it its because youre a facist bigot terf"
Of course when you start from the assumption that anyone who disagrees is a bigot- its hard to come to another conclusion. Just why bother trying to debate people when youre not willing to consider new information at all? go educate yourself.
It doesnt have any bearing on people who claim to be non-binary. Thats what Im saying. Hijras are - mostly- not non binary. In surveys theyve conducted for themselves they define themselves as men who were castrated in horrible circumstances. This has been their story until very recently. They went to courts to stop forced castrations. So Non-Binary or trans is a different thing. I think a very western very divorced from reality idea based on bad philosophy is trying to gain a foothold and gain sympathy in this country on the backs of these poor men. It is a thing in western academia to exoticise and romanticise all things orient and to ascribe to ancient wisdom what can be ascribed to more banal and often more horrifying material realities. Hijras arent some ancient divine caste in Hinduism that proves the existence of all these new identities. Just like devadasis dont prove some ancient divine feminine role. Theyre religious cults that exploit poor people in society.
if 99% of women claimed they were being assaulted- yes- I would assume no woman could consent to sex. We do assume women cannot consent to sex under circumstances dont we? when theyre drugged or drunk or trafficked? When there are power equations or when theyre children?
For a lot of these people- castration happens when theyre children or under influence or once theyve been trafficked. Im not here to argue the edge case of someone who just likes the aesthetic and volunteers- Just like I dont argue the edge case of the woman who finds prostitution extremely rewarding and could have other jobs but chooses not to and really she gets to pick the men she has sex with and when. Thats not the case for the majority of prostituted women. When youre talking about social groups you rarely argue the edge cases. Theres obviously exceptions for anything anyone might say for any group- that doesnt mean there arent averages and there arent studies and there isnt realiable data we can generalise from.
If esoteric western philosophy is to be accepted in law and policy making in india- it must be on its own merits- not because theyve managed to coopt an already victimised group.
Ive not made half the assumptions youve made about me. Run away because you cannot hold your own in an argument. Rational fears about womens rights and freedoms doesnt mean that the feminist project is inherently limited. Freedom to what is the problem. Not freedom as an abstract concept.
The existence of religious nuts who hate your religion doesnt surprise me. The existence of men who hate trans people doesnt surprise me. Just because those guys are against some group doesnt mean we should all join teams. Women can think for themselves and arrive at their own positions about what is best for women.
Youve never heard of it doesnt mean it hasnt happened? Please go to these trans orgs and ask about what "genital preferences" are and whether theyre transphobic? Please go to everyday feminism that cheer leaded this crap. Please google "cotton ceiling". Its not projection because its inconvenient to your world view. Why do you think Gays and Lesbians are disassociating themselves from the gender ideology movement? because if sex is not real and doesnt matter then there can be no homosexuality. Please read the people I cited- Kathleen Stock, Julie Bindel, please watch Magdalene Berns' videos. Please look up what happened to Katie Herzog. Please open your eyes and go read about the Tickle v Giggle case. Theyre literally arguing lesbians cannot have a lesbian only dating app without including male-bodied people.
Go to shewon.org there are hundreds of women who have had their opportunities stolen because of your movement. Go to reduxx- youll read hundreds and thousands of stories about women who have been locked in prisons or been denied same sex spaces with male bodied rapists because they claim theyre trans. Read the NHS Confederation guidelines which states that women dont have a right to same sex care.
Just because youve closed your eyes and ears to it - doesnt mean its not happening. Your ignorance of the world doesnt mean the world doesnt exist.
