Say X earns 10lpa at a small firm at A2 level. X has been only in small firms since X's day 1.
Say Y earns 16.8lpa at a Tier 1 firm at A2 level. Y has been at said Tier 1 since Y's day 1.
Now say, X is joining said Tier 1 firm (where Y is working) at same A2 level.
Per the 10-15% math, X will be earning in the range of 11lpa to 11.5lpa, despite his peer Y at same firm earning 16.8lpa.
So, how would X ever be able to match their salary to that of a Tier 1 associate who has been at Tier 1 since day 1?
Do all firms do this 10-15% hike and not match the salaries with existing associates? Or are there any exceptions? Because if there aren't any exceptions I am wondering what scope would someone like X have to increase his salary prospects.
Now if this someone joins a Tier 1/2 law firm, after a a few years of working in the non-tier/smaller firm, will they be paid lesser than their colleagues at the Tier 1/2, who are at the same PQE level and have been there since their day 1?
Which firms usually follow this? And which firm don't?
hmm do you even understand tribals did constituted a part of Vedic society and infact Vedic society was about tribals and clans?
and Hinduism has gone a lot of reforms unlike other religions and will continue to get reformed
Coming on to women I think only a fool will compare a 4000 year old rules to current situation and try to judge with it without seeing a current situation. Hinduism is the most pro women religion when it comes to women goddess and their reverence in society.
Again don't compare foolishly with some texts because every text has gone some transformation or a new text replaced it at some point of time.
I love how you compare religions that are thousand year olds to current situation.
Chanakya in his book clearly stated that a KING should punish a priest (Brahmin) if he denies to teach Outcaste person Vedas or or officiate sacrificial performance undertaken by him.
It tells us about the Mauryan Empire and state of outcaste person 25000 years ago.
Caste came in later Vedic period and gradually changed with time in thousands of years.
I love how you hate Hindutva while the same ideology calls for elimination of castes and unite hindus .
IF people think that Hinduism is controlled by a book or something then they are foolish. Hinduism grew with societal changes and those societal changes has changed Hinduism gradually.
Coming to secularism I think the problem with you guys is that you all think secularism was always followed by every respective government but that's all BS.
Look at history we were always secular in paper work not in work.
Congress favours Muslims for votes so made whole โฎโฎโฎ community OBC while also Congress government was riding on Hindu wave with ram mandir during rajiv gandhi times and BJP as always is busy removing caste barriers in HINDU society to get votes from all while ignoring muslims in politics. Same with DMK they still โฎโฎโฎ have dalits who cannot enter temple while they are busy promoting Christianity and taking money from Hindu temple or destroying Hindu temples.

Unprecedented and heartening that a HC actually praises students of an NLU for protesting. Contrast with NLSIU, where the then CJI (Bobde) had told Gopal Shanks that he disapproved of such protests (when he came to push for Sudhir's nomination and NLSIU students were protesting at efforts by the TLC lobby to reject Sudhir)
I imagine that Chandrachud is not like Bobde and will support a protest for a just cause. But the question is whether the present generation of NUJS students can protest like early generations? Whether the Gen Z SJA is as active as the Gen Y SJA? Is Gen Z a generation of tweeters rather than doers? Are their protests restricted to social media rants?
The NUJS VCship nomination is coming up and will heat up after the 4 June election results. Will students do anything then?

I think the only time they're mentioned on this forum is when delayed bonuses and increments are being discussed.
Since its tax you do not have much options too. It is NDA, ELP, Vaish, Khaitan and a few other law firms to jump to. GST/DT people still have some scope since advisory team has CA's and litigation wale can still jump to other places. Rest are screwed. I don't think they have even implemented their revised pay scales, or is it still the same pay for freshers?
The divide in generational 'insiders' and non-generational 'outsiders' begins at colleges. It persists at the time of getting your enrollment form signed. First gens have no place at the table in the Bar rooms, despite being paying members. Insider law students trotting as "interns" are given a royal cushion for their @$$.
Insiders start filing their VPs in daddy's/ mommy's matters, argue those, while we are stuck searching for even half as decent seniors who hopefully treat us at least like human-slaves and not like scum. We are trapped seeking adjournments and getting matters kept back with ni end in sight.
Insiders, spare us your sob stories, we have enough on our plates already.
How much gen corp, m&a, pe and vc work is there for technology lawyers? Are there any teams in tier-1 firms that handle both technology and corporate work together? Are there lesser opportunities and lesser money in TMT, if I choose TMT over Corporate? With rapid growth in technology, does having knowledge and experience in Technology Law helps one in securing a job in Corporate Teams of tier-1 and tier-2 law firms
Chennai as a city has the lowest fresher corp law pay across India.

Chennai law firms pay the lowest salaries among all Indian cities. Even Tier 1 (National Practices) firms in Chennai pays less than 1/2nd or 1/3rd of what they pay in Bengaluru or Mumbai.
It doesn't even have anything to do with cost of living. Chennai is cheaper than Bangalore. But the salaries are so low in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu economy is booming, Chennai is emerging. But lawyer pay is bad, really bad. Only people who make money here are Senior Counsels in Litigation.
I have friends in Chennai law college and TN nlu tiruchi. But for corporate practice they prefer anywhere outside Chennai because of the pay.
They said the union creates a firm with nearly 4,000 lawyers and 3,000 other employees across 47 offices, generating combined revenues of about $3.5 billion.
Leaders of the new firm, A&O Shearman, said they expect a smooth debut after nearly a year of preparations by London-founded Allen & Overy and its smaller counterpart Shearman & Sterling, which was among the top old-line New York law firms.
Context - Both the firms have a dozen of Indian LLB lawyers.

Also, are clients in Bangalore transaction usually only start-ups/tech companies?
Gut level, is it really about long standing carefully curated relationships?
There are rainmakers, and then there are rainmakers. ๐
In top firms, how much is the founder's pull on bringing in business?
Are there partners that only work on rainmaking full time and zero execution? Is that possible, rewarded and respected?
(Really Urgent)
What if one considers London? What would be the best option for that?
Construction cost = Maybe 5-10 crores, taken from members who run monopolies and can well afford it. Also, by leasing the venue for arbitrations and conferences they can recoup the costs in a few years.
