Interestingly, this comes at a time when the Calcutta High Court has cancelled 25,000 state government school teacher recruitments because of mass corruption, while the education minister is in jail in connection with this same scam. The question to ask is whether NUJS has been immune to the corruption taking place in the state, or are there lots of skeletons in the closet? If the latter, shouldnβt Chandrachud be alerted?
Citadel does commercial and corporate litigation mostly. The firm is run by ex-Argus founding partner, right? You can get a lot of gen corp work there but again the firm has been touted to be a difficult place to work at.
What will happen if I don't serve the notice period. They are threatening to sue me.
God bless this country if people like you, by some stroke of luck, make it to civil services.
Therefore, nothing will really be collected from the inheritance of rich people. Of course, this can be corrected if the movement of wealth to trusts is taxed. However, doing this will undoubtedly open a different can of worms vis-Γ -vis financial sponsor investments and other aspects of corporate laws. Therefore, I highly doubt this will be done.
For the middle class and poor, who already don't have much, and either cant afford private client lawyers and estate planners for putting things into trust or will not have the knowledge to do so, will lose money under this mechanism. Effectively, people who have very little will lose the most.
This reminds me of the minimum balance fiasco, where the lowest of the low lost butt-loads of money to the banks owing to either lack of wealth or knowledge.
And in any case, its not like there will be a direct transfer of wealth. Irrespective of who is in the government, the recovered wealth will largely either be directly pocketed by our public servants or largely distributed to capitalist friends of the government or a mix of both.
These plans seem nice on paper but hardly have any effect! Populism will truly be the death of all of us. The early years of our democracy clearly shows that when the government comes for a big chunk of public money (that time it was through insane income taxes), the government really does not get the money, people just engage in corruption!
But what do I know!
Secondly, the idea of a 50 percent inheritance tax in India is not only π¦π©π€ͺ but will lead to a lot of corruption. The money will not be spent on health or education (unlike in the EU) but will go into the pockets of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.
On my TL I see a lot of NLU/Ashoka/Jindal students cheering this idea with zero economic awareness. They have a childish fascination with Marxism. If the Congress comes to power and implements this idea, then India will be destroyed. Even Congress supporters like Nidhi Razdan are blasting the Congress for this dumb idea.
I request LI to publish this, because law students need to know the TRUTH. See below.

Inheritance tax will go a long way in correcting wealth inequality. There are maharajas in Rajasthan who live their entire life on generational wealth. This will make them work and will ultimately benefit the society.
Kya din aa gaye hai.. Until sometime back, people used to question the fees of Jindal, but now a new private institute has been set up which is charging even more, so Jindal's fees is being used a base reference point!
For everyone's benefit, recent news reports suggest that even IITs are finding it difficult to place their students, so to rely on BITS legacy for placing students in law firms, it will be extremely hypothetical underwriting. So please don't count on it.
Let me give you another example. Suppose you have a very old relative under your constant care. Suppose he does not pay any net taxes nor does he contribute to society in any way. Would killing him be justified?
Are you so scared of people having a level playing ground
- Global economic instability and high inflation?- US college protests spread?
- Terror attacks in US and Europe in retaliation?

Woke up this morning to check the notification from college placement cell regarding the candidates who made it through the CV selection round in a Tier 1 firm's internship recruitment drive. My name wasn't there, despite having all the pre requisites and academical cut off. Got a taste of competitive reality check that made me realise ki "bhai itne se to nai hoga, more hours to be put in". Its 7:30 in the morning and I'm trying to let go of this emotional baggage of expectations that I had from myself, perhaps due to the fact that this is my first rejection while applying for a tier 1 firm despite coming so close.
Folks I plan to join Gen Corp teams of Tier 1 firm, though exhausting as many worthy contributors have already mentioned here before, I wish to have first hand experience in the pressure cooker myself. The domain of corporate and commercial laws interest me. How shall I go ahead about it? shall I productively utilise my connections to land a one month internship in such firms and convert it into a call back/long term? how often does that happen when you don't join as a long term intern at a place?
Or, for the starters, I should join a Tier 2-3 firm in the same domain and learn the work. Maybe in a boutique firm where chances of acceptance is more. Can you folks suggest me places to start and apply in Delhi-NCR (Gurgaon) in the same domain?
any advice, suggestions or blunt two cents would be appreciated. Thanks for patiently reading till the end.
Considering being in my 4th semester (3 years LLB), I wish to either join a tier 1 firm in the domain of gen corp so that can get acquainted with the work and convert that into a long term assesemnt internsip.
Secondly, if this seems to be quite not a possability as of now, maybe i can join a tier 3 or any other boutique firm in the same domain such M&A, due diligence and other

I would caution Rahul Gandhi/Congress fans not to cheer this observation. Remember that if Modi comes to power this same observation allows him to seize properties held by the National Herald or Robert Vadra or Waqf property that is de facto privately held.
Not only legal, but Moderna is using it as a tool for many of its other teams as well. They are currently using 400 'custom' gpt chat bots!
All the best tho

Danish Sheikh and Mohsin Alam Bhat offered electives. Shailesh Kumar and Anjali Rawat TAβd there.
So, they have all given back more than the person who wrote this unnecessary comment and the idiots that piled on the likes without bothering to know/determine the facts.
