Have been here for two years; Winter end sem starts in Mid April and ends around 28-30th for all batches and we start interning from 1st to 3rd May onwards.
As for mid June thing, you only need to come back if you have failed a paper and need to sit for repeats. Else our new year begins around 2nd week of July. As such, we can intern the entirety of June. Please cross verify info before spilling it.
Do firms care if you join from middle of the month for 1 month or they necessarily insist upon joining from the first of month ?
Trilegal is definitely a step ahead of the la la firms in terms of profit sharing, but that's about it. "Governance philosophy" and "institutional culture" are only buzzwords at the firm, as it follows the same model as every other firm where the team's partner controls everything within their team. The associate sitting at the desk next to me faced a very different governance philosophy and culture (much better to be honest – they used to leave on time everyday) solely because they were in a different team.
Yes, Trilegal does spend the most on its associates compared to every other firm, and the difference in office quality is palpable. But Trilegal's primary benefits are felt at the partner level (and might be a disadvantage for rainmakers in fact - see NKU), and associate life is not very different from other firms.
I will admit one thing Trilegal has done well is adopt great enterprise tech. The Lucio investment is a bit of a flop within the firm, but our Microsoft system kicks Citrix's ass every day of the week
Its success suggests that building a leading law firm is not just about assembling star lawyers or landing marquee mandates. It is also about creating a structure that supports collaboration, rewards performance, and sustains long-term growth. Trilegal’s lockstep-oriented and broad-based equity model has often been seen as central to its culture and internal cohesion.
The firm’s journey also reflects a larger shift in the Indian legal sector: from founder-centric practices to more system-driven institutions. In that sense, Trilegal did not just become successful within the existing framework, it helped demonstrate that there could be a different framework altogether.
Whether that template can be replicated at other firms is a separate question. But Trilegal has certainly shown that ownership design, governance philosophy, and institutional culture can be as important as legal capability in building an elite Indian law firm.
I know I’m thinking way ahead, but before I get into something I don’t enjoy, I really want to get an idea of the entire picture. I know it’s SAM and everything, but I would really rather not waste a month doing something that is not going to add any value to my career. Being from the 3 year course, I anyways have 2 less years to intern and figure things out. I’m going to be in my final year, and again, very limited time to intern, virtually no campus placements or assistance from college, and not many firms who take interns/hire from DU.
I have always been interested in litigation, and all my internships other than this one have been with advocates. But since this is a really good opportunity, I really do want to explore if I want to work in a corporate setup.
I’m sorry for the long ass explanation - basically just want to know, why does everyone seem to hate Capital Markets? Other than the fact that it is repetitive work, is there anything else? Is CM hated just in SAM or most firms? Is it easy to transition into GC after working in this area? Or M&A? Would I be boxing myself in this area? (Future problem, I know). But is there anyone who can just give general advice on this?
TL;DR 2nd year student at CLC, majorly focused on litigation, will be a callback intern at SAM in October (in my final year) in the Capital Markets team, need general advice, why is Capital Markets so disliked
I am an independent lawyer. I have earned every Tier 1 law firm role I secured and every client referral. I even graduated from a Tier 1 university. How is it that when I apply for any government panel, I get zilch, whereas people with no prior experience or credentials get empanelled, and receive sarkar work worth crores of rupees?
I have no love or sympathy for Arvind Kejriwal. I have voted for him only twice, and I don’t see myself ever voting for him again after seeing videos of his Sheeshmahal in Civil Lines - https://youtu.be/czEBDNRYHBg
It is under these circumstances that his demand for recusal, which tbh stands on flimsy grounds (legally speaking), resonates with me - https://youtu.be/BMBPoqkfzWc
Am I alone here?
An average successful senior advocate earns faf far far more than their equally successful law firm counterpart
If you want a T-1 job, maybe shift practice areas. If you want to get into a specific practice area only, maybe try for T-2s and T-3s and work your way up. If you haven’t been able to convert 9-10 experiences (not sure if this also includes callbacks, but if not then this applies even more) indicates that your work performance is probably not up to the mark. If possible, ask your mentors from easier internships for feedback and work on it.
I hope it works out for you, the markets haven’t been kind to us and don’t think will be for a while going forward!
In any case, stay strong and hold on, keep trying
Diligent and hard working people are always to figure it out
Based on this, I think what is determinative is which country are you a citizen of actually.
Finally I sometimes wonder about Harish Salve. I have my doubts that he has retained an Indian passport.
Remind me of old LI times.
I miss Kian.
OCI card holders, by definition, are not Indian Citizens
If anybody has any idea about this and can help me out, that would be really helpful.
Are the law firms not hiring laterals right now for some reason? And if anybody knows any team that is looking for SA, can you please mention that in this thread?
Please tell me this is a prank comment. Please.

References have been made to the personal lives of the Plaintiffs in the context of their political inclinations, which indicates a brewing campaign by those who have opposing political inclinations.
>18. What particularly worries this Court is a perusal of Document No. 5, which contains a compilation of comments, some of which contain threats of physical and sexual violence. All of these posts have been gathering widespread attention from the general public, which is also attributable to the language used in the impugned content, which in the prima facie opinion of this Court, have been written in a way to garner more and more attention.
Also how is Salman Khurshid firm's experience?
Want to get some insights about LKS M&A and GC team in Delhi. How big is the team? What is the quality of work? How is the work life balance and what is the pay like for a PA/Counsel/AP equivalent position?
