I have an internship offer in bharuchas mumbai office. I have seen bad reviews about them in general. should I continue with them or to look into other firms. I cannot handle toxic culture or yelling. please give honest reviews as it's the closest possiblity to getting hired for next year

This is a call for advice or leads, if any. I have just graduated from a non-nlu/good NIRF ranking college. Have good litigation and in-house internships. I got placed at a random firm from college, JD said litigation work but the work is like an LPO. The associates here seem to like it a lot but there's no growth here. Drafting arbitration pleadings all day for random district courts in India for a low salary is not what I want to end up doing. Should I quit and look for another job immediately or should I wait for a few months here (I fear that resigning immediately would paint a bad picture). Also, are any good firms hiring rn for BO26.

I had scholarships so I had to basically pay for my expenses and stay. The ROI was okay. I don’t know how to answer that second question - fill out an application form and - send it ? Nothing is easy. Folks on here who rag on llms and phds - they wouldn’t be able to handle the work it takes to get those things

Jindal is hated because it’s not affordable for most of them here. There is no other reason. Many could be jealous of its success and global standing. When they compare with their own college, they might feel depressed. Better to stay away and focus on your own college or so called university.

Not commenting on ethics of what is right and what's not. Smoking, drinking and partying are part and parcel of every college - especially NLUJ. They are entitled to what they believe, and so are you. Be careful of the forum you choose to express that.

I am 43-year-old man, married for more than ten years, no kids. Both of us have been staying outside India all these years. My earlier jobs were on a contract due to which my wife had to follow me twice into new countries. She was a working professional before marriage, and the initial years in our married life impacted her career. But, she did manage to find for herself good positions in both countries. However, even now, both of our careers are not exactly going great.

Over the last three years, she has been verbally abusive towards me, my friends as well as my immediate family members. I have been recording phone calls for more than two years where she is using foul and insulting language, and shouting at me. On two occasions she has slapped me across the face. During the second slapping incident, while I was trying to stop her from doing something dangerous, she dug her nails into my right wrist, which caused a noticeable injury. During one of her abusive episodes, I have used foul language for her once, but I have never hit or slap or attack her physically.

I have been ignoring her abusive behaviour because I acknowledge that my job has had an adverse impact on her career. However, I repeatedly ask myself for how long should continue to take the abuse lying down.

Currently, my wife is going through an episode of severe paranoia that someone is hacking her mobile and laptop. She has destroyed two of her phones, bought a new iPhone, and destroyed it after four days. She is currently in India, and thinks that her mother's phone is also hacked into. Today her aunt called me to inform me that my wife is hitting her mother. Over the past couple of years, she has hit her mother on a few occasions. I am afraid that if I go to India, sooner or later, I may be subjected to physical abuse again.

Given this situation, I see these two options in front of me:
1. serve a legal notice to her that such continued physical attacks from her, on anyone, would result in the initiation of divorce proceedings from my end
2. directly go for divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty

I understand it is my decision to choose between the two options. However, I want to ask what would be the best way to move forward, whether there are any other things that must be considered, is there any other option. I request your help to arrive at a decision.

In Salt Lake there are quite a few plots of land sporting signboards of the state UD dept. Maybe these are plots that were not leased out or taken back from those who did not construct houses etc within the stipulated time.

Many of these plots host plant/flower nurseries and even construction dumping sites, such as sand, iron rods, pipes etc. I wonder whether the UD dept or local municipal corporation has any such scheme allowing these arrangements. I am reliably told that all these are organised with the support of local councillors and MLAs.

But today’s news is that the party itself may effectively cease to exist, because 58 out of 80 MLAs have formed a breakaway TMC faction. Some influential Muslim leaders are among them. In that case, the original TMC is heading towards a certain death.

So what will MG do now? Continue to be on board a sinking ship till her RS term ends in 2032? Join the breakaway faction? Or join the Congress or some other party?

Caveat: I practice in a Tier 2 city at a Regional High Court and other State forums.

Generally, the Court hours plus the chamber hours are eratic but one may count around 2 to 3 hours a day in Court and an additional 3 to 4 hours in office. After slogging myself for 10 years, I have relatively free weekends. I do have to hold office on weekends but mostly it is for 2 to 3 hours. Remaining time I like to spend with my family and devote to my reading list and other hobbies.

My monthly earnings are somewhere in the ballpark of 2 to 3 lakhs a month. I own a car, nothing sophisticated. I still putting up on a rented place with a desire to own a house in near future, deadline being the age of 40. I do like to go on holidays and religiously plan for the same. As of other holdings, I have 70 lakhs of savings to secure my future.

All in all, indeed, I have friends, both in firms and litigation who are better of me or may be not so better of, but in the end, I find myself to be happy and satisfied wherever I am.

Most firms never introspect and change their ways. The word of a senior, no matter how toxic and despicable, is always believed over a junior (even if the junior is telling the truth). This is why most firms lose talent quickly. It is very tough to believe that an SA / PA / AP is always telling the truth and that an A0 or A1 is always lying.

I don't think any Indian law firm would be interested in outsourcing their legal services (or am I wrong here?) – and now if the focus is on this aspect (which again, I believe is the right move for them financially), it does make me question the law firms that are still holding on to their Jurisphere subscriptions. Why not move to Lucio/Harvey/Legora/in-house solutions instead of paying someone for a product that they're not even focused on building anymore?

I took one such cam course myself. It was taught by senior partners, partners, and senior associates. They greet you in the first class by congratulating you for making it through a very intensive screening process. A year later, I was hired in the same practice area the course dealt with (might be more of a coincidence, since i was interested in it). But I believe it genuinely helped a lot in the process. The two other people who were selected with me for have training contacts now (ig the process was intensive afterall). Anyway, its a free course, delivered by people who know their shit. Definitely worth applying.
