I absolutely and totally disagree that this is a "fantastic comment". For one thing, to argue "abstract politics", as this one has done, is not at all true. The kind of people we are thinking about won on tickets of bread-and-butter issues. Mamdani, for example, is famous for speaking about rent freezes.

Hi, I am currently an A1. I noticed that there are few folks particularly at A3 and SA levels who have changed their roles into . I understand that their work is not as hectic as that of associates. Is it a better option career wise to be a consultant and take pay cut in a law firm than going in-house. From taxation point of view consultancy makes sense.

I totally agree with you!! It doesn’t matter which college ur from it’s just that u need the skills. And I respect u how u didn’t try to pull down nlu just bc ur a non nlu just like the other guy. And I feel like nlus are worth it if tier 1 coz there so much opportunities which u might not get in a non nlu but still non nlu can reach the nlu grads with their hardwork! It’s like IIT and a normal engineering college

Bruh be honest do u think in today’s world u will actually find many people aiming to work for society well being? Common. Clat aspirants have done their hard work and they deserve the money . And of course u might say corporate slavery and all. Do u think it’s easy to get such slavery? The high paying one lol. Can u name 10 jobs which is high paying at the same time less works except 9 to 5? Well u might not find many. In this world u have to get the money through hardwork. I have got a slightly different perspective. If I do not attend the classes, but I can still clear all the modes of evaluation that the faculty prescribes, then did I really miss anything of importance? If the university argues that they need to stick to BCI rules or less risk losing their licence, then they shouldn't have broken the rules themselves and lowered the margin to 40% from 70%. They risk losing the licence this way too. It's an interesting point to note, especially in the light of the Delhi HC judgement.

I am working in an in-house role. The place and people are great but the work is not challenging. I want to switch to a law firm as soon as possible. The issue is that t1s have pretty much zeroed down on ppo's as the dominant hiring route because it gives them a chance to test the candidate over a period of 1-2 months. Now, should any opportunity from a t1 for assessment internship arise, then should I quit my job and intern? This must come across as irrational at first blush but I feel if it converts, then the risk is worth it. I graduated this year so i feel like this is the time to put in those hours, do the grunt work, hone your craft and really grow.

I joined Saraf in the month of August (not mentioning year). After one year, they were diligent enough to give me proportionate bonus because I was there only for 8 months. Fair.

After that I stayed for an entire year. Completed 12 months. Then I also stayed for an additional 5 months. I put down my papers in August. But my bonus for the entire 12 months + additional 5 months was gone. Now because the firm had delayed the payment of Bonus, and because I was on notice when Bonus was released, I fking did not get my rightful bonus. How ▮▮▮ of a firm it can be. If you are giving proportionate bonus for joining late. Atleast give the bonus for the duration I served, let aside the extra months.

Nobody said that the ones you mentioned are undeserving..they are the most deserving, regardless of which college they are from. Its the other lot of people, who for obvious reasons cannot be named, are undeserving. A good way to check is to just see how much their fees are and how many briefs they hold, and their perception in the bar.

You are a fool who has no awareness of what's going on. True, Senior Designations have been an old boy's club for a long time, but it has been far more inclusive in the recent past, but while being so, has been given to a majority of deserving lawyers. There are two yardsticks to measure that: their fees vis a vis their counterparts (Eg: A Senior in Kerala HC may be charging much less than a Senior in SC) and the respect they command in their bar. Now, the last few senior designations especially after the SC judgements have conferred the silk on many, many underserving people. Just see how many briefs they have and how much they charge. Its peanuts. Nor do they command any respect. Yes, undeserving people have been designated before as well, and the new system did make the process far more transparent(which was much needed), but the new system also made far, far too many undeserving people get the Silk.

So know your facts before you say that some old boy's club has been shattered by an objective process. The old boys club has long been shattered and its got nothing to do with them or their offsprings crying. It has to do with the quality of the ones getting the silk. Pray tell me, if the old boy's club is crying, which you have no proof of, why is the bar in general, which has far too many 1st gen lawyers as well, unhappy with the same? Please don't come here and bark uncessarily with whatever is trendy. Get your facts straight first.

Yo, I’m currently a student here and I’m loving it (apart from some things which I think other uni would also have)

1. like in 2025 the physical infra is actually quite good than what I expected seeing all the YouTube videos. There are trees all over the campus, well equipped classes (Bose speakers and 2 mics for classes, even if the strength is 35 students), mess is 2 storeys, library is big with comfortable chairs, for sports there is football ground, lawn tennis, 2 basketball courts, gym, indoor badminton court, outdoor badminton court (every hostel gets one of those), etc, hostels might be little cramped but after 1-2 weeks it actually might feel normal (bathroom and toilet sucks). Apart from that overall the campus infra is solid 8.

2. Teaching quality is overall good with great external and internal faculty. We had lecturers from nlu delhi and other ones too (can’t remember all but there were handful of them). I mean till now I didn’t encounter a bad faculty but yeah, you are expected to study and research on your own (cause it’s bare minimum if you are in this career).

3. Well student quality here is okish, let’s say 65-75%.

4. Uh forget about that, I mean they have functions for festivals, but university is very strict, discipline is their motto. I heard there is a fest but yeah, I am not keeping any expectations.

5. There are two over equipped moot courts.

6. Apart from a big library to sit in, they give you a e-library access where you get access to everything you need. Like I never encountered a time when I need access to read something and I didn’t have access to. Of course list is too vast so can’t list them all here.

7. Apart from international faculty, I don’t think so we have international programs. Mostly they are for postgraduates who are doing mba.

8. Shockingly there are placement opportunities. All my seniors have interned in top law firms. There is a very strong and big placement committee, who starts working on you from the day you join. We are getting prepared to be ready for internships from the day we joined.

Not always. This is a really myopic view of the situation. Imagine how this one 'extra' job adds up for everyone seeking a job in the job market. Reality is that the mushrooming law colleges across the country are just money making schemes without an assessment of the ground reality of legal job market in India. There are only those many number of vacancies for people.

Despite the predicted cleanup in electoral rolls, Greens will because saffron simply doesn't understand Bengal. It is more interested to shoehorn it into the mould given by Nagpur Bros. Folks here are upset with Greens but Saffron don't inspire confidence.

She was part of Ashwath's team back in Amarchand. At Bharucha, I think her practice is smaller but she has quite a few top funds that come to her. She is probably one of the better ones in the second tier of fund practices. So, work should be good. Not saying anything about work culture because there are always two sides of every coin...

What on earth is this newfound obsession with people breaking their bangles because another salaried ex-partner has gone in-house? Of course they have. What did you expect — divine intervention?

If they had a book, they’d be watering it, pruning it, and whispering sweet nothings to it. In our profession, a book isn’t leverage — it’s the last thing keeping you from being mistaken for support staff.

And talent? We have it in excess. We’re drowning in bright graduates — eager, obedient, hopeful. Half of them were elevated before they even learned how to fake cynicism properly.

But rainmakers? Actual generators of revenue and relevance? That’s where the tragedy lights come on. The S&R exits didn’t surprise anyone — they simply confirmed the obvious. Most who left weren’t making it rain. They weren’t even causing a light fog. Maybe Uday or Bhakta or Divyanshu had a passing shower in them.

The rest? Drought. Biblical drought.

In India, if you’re a law firm partner without a book, you are support staff. Replaceable. Even if you’re good at execution, the in-house conveyor belt will pick you up eventually. It’s like ageing — slow, predictable, and completely unavoidable.

You solved a mystery no one was investigating, in a book no one was reading, for a prize no one was offering. Take a bow. Just don’t take any more time from people who actually have work.
