We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

But even a layman knows that the executive always twists the force of law to whatever they demand and the judiciary has to ultimately comply with it.

Be that as it may, however, I agree that the application of a troll tag is deeply disappointing and should be reversed immediately. Flagging legitimate speech like this which, whatever the quality of the argument(s), is on topic, is as bad as the practice that some U.S. testing agencies (like the LSAC) had at one time of flagging the LSAT results profiles of disabled test-takers to law schools to show that reasonable accommodations had been implemented.
Please just wear a normal black suit - not a trench coat. Wear a thermal under your shirt if you have to.
So you havent actually, worked?
T1. You work for which team?
Why won't you be able to??
Will it have any negative repercussions? Can i write it again??

What kind of work do they do and what is the pay and work culture like?
Any insights would be helpful. Thank you!

Iโm a recent law graduate (batch of 2020-2025 from a Non-NLU). I have two publications under consideration right now but no official writing experience.
How can I become a columnist or hold an editorial position in a newspaper? Any insights on this?
Super specialist trailblazers would have to be Mr. Matthan (TL) and Mr. Rastogi (Ikigai). Also, sup with Ms. Khimani - she launched a legal teach platform of sorts for musicians to enter into contracts?
PS. All of the above is purely speculative from a billing perspective for others to drop their thoughts.
After that I stayed for an entire year. Completed 12 months. Then I also stayed for an additional 5 months. I put down my papers in August. But my bonus for the entire 12 months + additional 5 months was gone. Now because the firm had delayed the payment of Bonus, and because I was on notice when Bonus was released, I fking did not get my rightful bonus. How โฎโฎโฎ of a firm it can be. If you are giving proportionate bonus for joining late. Atleast give the bonus for the duration I served, let aside the extra months.
law involves memorizing
chalo let's introduce complex intestinal functions in the exam as well
I think you are referring to the BILS exam
You guess it.
Regardless, its a mystery why the dual system was not there in Madras.
Nobody, not even any old boys club would look down upon anyone, whether from a nlu or not, 1st gen or not, deserving good person who got a silk.
So know your facts before you say that some old boy's club has been shattered by an objective process. The old boys club has long been shattered and its got nothing to do with them or their offsprings crying. It has to do with the quality of the ones getting the silk. Pray tell me, if the old boy's club is crying, which you have no proof of, why is the bar in general, which has far too many 1st gen lawyers as well, unhappy with the same? Please don't come here and bark uncessarily with whatever is trendy. Get your facts straight first.
1. like in 2025 the physical infra is actually quite good than what I expected seeing all the YouTube videos. There are trees all over the campus, well equipped classes (Bose speakers and 2 mics for classes, even if the strength is 35 students), mess is 2 storeys, library is big with comfortable chairs, for sports there is football ground, lawn tennis, 2 basketball courts, gym, indoor badminton court, outdoor badminton court (every hostel gets one of those), etc, hostels might be little cramped but after 1-2 weeks it actually might feel normal (bathroom and toilet sucks). Apart from that overall the campus infra is solid 8.
2. Teaching quality is overall good with great external and internal faculty. We had lecturers from nlu delhi and other ones too (canโt remember all but there were handful of them). I mean till now I didnโt encounter a bad faculty but yeah, you are expected to study and research on your own (cause itโs bare minimum if you are in this career).
3. Well student quality here is okish, letโs say 65-75%.
4. Uh forget about that, I mean they have functions for festivals, but university is very strict, discipline is their motto. I heard there is a fest but yeah, I am not keeping any expectations.
5. There are two over equipped moot courts.
6. Apart from a big library to sit in, they give you a e-library access where you get access to everything you need. Like I never encountered a time when I need access to read something and I didnโt have access to. Of course list is too vast so canโt list them all here.
7. Apart from international faculty, I donโt think so we have international programs. Mostly they are for postgraduates who are doing mba.
8. Shockingly there are placement opportunities. All my seniors have interned in top law firms. There is a very strong and big placement committee, who starts working on you from the day you join. We are getting prepared to be ready for internships from the day we joined.
7.8
If you ask such a blanket question, how can anyone guide you here?
Questions for each team will obviously differ.
I interned in march and i had my interview in july.
Also don't forget JHK loss earlier.
Did the saffron brotherhood do anything when serious allegations of financial skullduggery surfaced in MNLU Nagpur? Nothing was done at a "political level" when inquiries by judicial authorities confirmed scams at NLIU Bhopal.
And why should we expect things will change with regime exits. Scamming and killing off inquiries and follow up action is common to all political parties.
If they had a book, theyโd be watering it, pruning it, and whispering sweet nothings to it. In our profession, a book isnโt leverage โ itโs the last thing keeping you from being mistaken for support staff.
And talent? We have it in excess. Weโre drowning in bright graduates โ eager, obedient, hopeful. Half of them were elevated before they even learned how to fake cynicism properly.
But rainmakers? Actual generators of revenue and relevance? Thatโs where the tragedy lights come on. The S&R exits didnโt surprise anyone โ they simply confirmed the obvious. Most who left werenโt making it rain. They werenโt even causing a light fog. Maybe Uday or Bhakta or Divyanshu had a passing shower in them.
The rest? Drought. Biblical drought.
In India, if youโre a law firm partner without a book, you are support staff. Replaceable. Even if youโre good at execution, the in-house conveyor belt will pick you up eventually. Itโs like ageing โ slow, predictable, and completely unavoidable.
And to the Sherlock who thinks Iโve revealed my identity โ congratulations.
You solved a mystery no one was investigating, in a book no one was reading, for a prize no one was offering. Take a bow. Just donโt take any more time from people who actually have work.
Now smell the coffee โ๏ธ and get back to billing.
