Plus I found that the manner in which things were explained were also not good enough. The language did not speak to a law student/beginner lawyer - it was too convoluted at places (given that the author is a former judge, understandable).
Key to Indian Practice by Mulla was much better. I had the edition edited by Surya Kant (prior to his elevation). Explained things much better. For any greater reference, you could go to a commentary. The major issue with Takwani also was that it was intended to be a textbook but seemed like the author half-wanted to write a commentary, and it ended up being neither of those two. This also ties in with the language-issue I pointed out above.

Point 1 which needs discussion : Employees of law firm who are using amorphous terms like Associates ; can they be treated as Advocates when essentially they are employees of their firm and are never independent in any sense, merely because they /their firm have coined term "Associates" for them ?
