OP clearly misunderstands that even conservative personalities by "liberal strongholds" are very few and far in between in comparison to their total intake of students. Most importantly, the post clearly misunderstands the fact that there are conservative views held by lawyers and law students in almost every NLU. Just because the views are not widely held does not mean the views are non-existent, it mostly means that the person advocating for such views is not doing a good job in supporting and defending his views thus is not considered good enough to be supported or given limelight, or in some cases even if the "conservative" view on certain situation is really bad thus is not supported.

MS is not only not paying bonus / increment on time but is also ▮▮▮. There was a PA in disputes at 24 lacs pa and a SA with 8 years of work experience at 23 lacs pa. He has also hired associates at 12 lacs pa in capital markets and competition teams and thereafter hired A0s under them at 18.5 lacs pa. ▮▮▮

Let me point out a genuine and fundamental issue with this firm. MS wants all the communication routed through him. He wants to approve the sabbaticals, he wants to approve promotions, he wants to approve the bonus amounts and increment amounts, he wants to approve even if somebody takes WFH.

WHY DOES HE WANT TO APPROVE EVERYTHING ON HIS OWN. DO THE PARTNERS TAKE APPROVAL OF MS WHILE GIVING WORK AT 11 PM IN THE NIGHT? DO THE PARTNERS TAKE APPROVAL OF MS FOR MAKING ASSOCIATES WORK ON A WEEKDAY? DO THE PARTNERS TAKE APPROVAL OF MS FOR REJECTING LEAVES OF AN ASSOCIATE? NO RIGHT. THEN FOR WHAT GOOD REASON MS WANTS APPROVE IF SOMEBODY WANTS TO TAKE WFH?

MS needs to understand that he is not individualy working with each associate. He is not aware of working hours, mental condition, IQ, bandwidth, work history of each of the associate. In most situations, it is the reporting partner, who knows this information. Yet MS wants to have a final say on each and every important decision in respect of each individual associate's. THIS IS THE FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE.

Give more freedom to partners. Let the partners choose who should get the well-deserved WFH, and who should not. Let the partners decide who should get the bonus and what percentage. Let the partners decide the increments.

What's happening is - Reporting partners suck the blood out of associate's life. But when associates ask for bonus, increments, wfh, or any leeway, etc, the reporting partners point towards MS' cabin and tell them to approach him instead. That's wrong.

Not required. In case you want to do Litigation, a LLM from Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge, Columbia, NYU or Berkeley would be more suitable. Oxford and Yale are strictly academic masters and unlike the others mentioned here - which are suitable for both practitioners, aspiring academics, or an individual who wants to dabble around both, Oxford's BCL is supremely rigid. The BCL does, however, have value in Barrister Chambers in U.K. alongside a LLM from Cambridge or LSE.

No. Not unless you want to do that litigating in the UK or to go into academia. And then, it has to be only a part of your CV, because the expectations on that regard are so high now that a BCL in isolation won't cut it, has to be topped up with an MPhil and DPhil or other good PhD (see the profiles of people with Indian law degrees who have followed the barrister pathway in England). Hell, I know a guy (Singaporean, not Indian to be clear) who did LLB at Durham (and was highly ranked there) and BCL from Oxford, who still had trouble getting pupillage in barristers' chambers specialising in public law, until he did an MPhil topping up the BCL. That degree is so theoretical and on such a high level of abstraction... that it would be really weird for an Indian litigator to do it. If you were to go back to India as a litigator with just a BCL under your belt, it'd be like you couldn't get into academia (ie, failed to get into the MPhil/DPhil) and came back to pursue your backup career choice.

Somehow MoGo, FM could paper over all the evidence that SJA had presented before them during their time in the NUJS Review Commission. Maybe that's what gave PIB and gang the confidence because they stumbled on that very evidence when it came before the EC subsequently.

Agree. I think the argument is that the matter proceeded in a pre-determined manner, given a judge saying something in a interview something different than judgment (which he allegedly wrote). Ergo, does this become ground of his recusal and if yes, rehear the case. The point you need to remember is Arun Mishra's judgment, where he led a CB constituted to hear a reference from his own bench, and despite a very strong ask from one side, he didn't recuse (probably even passed an order to that effect, if memory serves me right). So recusal was within judge's own assessment. For other grounds of pre-meditation, including incorrect understanding of facts, not sure it would work since the review had also been dismissed. Lastly, if you do file curative and manage to admit it and also, win, do you really think a Court would now order to raze the temple constructed now? So it would only serve to be a moral victory. SJA protested this time apparently at the instigation of some faculty members of allegations by NKC in BB interview hold true. And what have those protests achieved, that included a farcical gherao? Direct your questions to the search committee, the EC and then the CJI. You could do the same for PIB as well. The point isn't about a contested past (NKC apparently won a case in Cal HC and his lawyer then was a former law minister and father of JA). The reason NKC could send the univ down a corrupt path is because SJA wasn't vigilant and instead cutting deals. But why blame SJA? What did we do when SJA was being complicit and even now? Has SJA suffered any meaningful consequences?

Why not RTI for a copy of the inquiry report? And while you are at it and mining the web, why not RTI the univ for copies of Procurement, Work, Building, IT committees minutes and agenda notes.? Also the univ hasn't been honest with uploads of FC, EC, AC records. The links draw blank on several FC minutes. And agenda notes are missing for the entire NKC period. Our alums had extracted 19 years of agenda notes and minutes of all EC, FC and GC minutes. What stopped our dear SJA folks to continue down that road and noy become conniving fellow travellers of NKC.

Difference between failing upwards, Indian and western styles:

India (NKC): A guy fakes his CV but becomes the leader of the equivalent (in law terms, for India) of an ivy league university, decreasing the university's relevancy on the global stage from a status of "rising star with potential to give the best in class a hard time" to "local college that can be dismissed out of hand".

Western style: Minouche Shafik, a person who, despite lots of privilege, has many genuine accomplishments to her name, becomes VC of LSE (after a stint as a Deputy Governor of the British central bank, the Bank of England). Makes a right little mess of handling teachers' strikes at LSE and fails upwards (or perhaps sideways? difficult to say) to Columbia, where she messes up handling of protests in such a way as to make both the pro-Israel and anti-Israel camps angry.

Noojies should be a little humble about their arrogance. Let's not forget how 10 years back they were shouting that NLUD would never compare to them and today, NLUD is absolutely a far superior institution to NUJS and is ranked higher by literally every law aspirant and nearly everyone else with even an inkling of knowledge about NLUs.

The parameters are very real, you're just mad that GNLU can't crack any of those. Impact from research papers works the same way all over the world. Places where those get published, citations etc. If you are coming up with random ways to judge quality of research, then that's what is arbitrary. As for faculty quality, I have met with most of the faculty from both the places and there is not a single good quality teacher that GNLU has. The relevance of non-law firm placement is beyond you, because you don't even have a clue what alternate career law grads can have. You need better education to be aware of such things. In law firm placements too, NUJS has always been ahead of GNLU anyway. Newer NLUs working their way up? GNLU has been around for almost 2 decades now. Never has it come close to NUJS in any of the parameters related to education. So cope and seethe.

All this is obvious. Repeating this is unhelpful and a waste of time. I've had enough of it, I have. I'm fighting fire with fire (online, when I am overseas and sometimes in person, when I am in India) when I come across it. I am hitting back with substance rather than ad hominem when I can. Recently was delighted to see, for example, a kid from our part of the world (from Bangladesh, not India, to be perfectly accurate) educated in Britain and the U.S. calling out a prominent NLU "human rights person" from talking nonsense about Jurisprudence (with actual logic and substance, attacking the argument rather than the guy posting it) and that NLU prof having to shut down his LinkedIn account for a while. Just shows the counter to the rhetoric about people going abroad being unserious, partying types. Sure, there are such people (Jindal students being paradigmatic examples), but people, for their own reasons, like to conflate everyone with Jindal.

did a two months internship here, the timing for everyone INCLUDING AN UNPAID INTERN were 9-7. I am in my 5th year and have done my fair share of internships but have never had such horrendous timings and to add to that you can only take 2 days off in a month because apparently work force doesn’t get sick.
