Its a pyramid like structure, onepartner, one or two counsels, then maybe a few Pa/Sas, then the Associates. Of the 170, how many will make partner? Even if they do become partner, most of them will face the same issue as the ones salaried partners face - no bringing in business.

Mods, please publish this comment. I genuinely want to know how someone who wants to work in a firm can even accept this. This is true for most of the big shot law firms.

Economy is not exactly growing at a decent pace. What is CAM doing?

1. LLM is essential. PhD is desirable. Practically most places expect you to be enrolled in a PhD

2. It is saturated unfortunately. A very high number of students are doing 1 year LLM which makes number of people with essential qualification as very high.

3. Same UGC payscale at sarkari places, for private ones it depends

This guy literally created a separate course/dept to accomodate Apa and acolytes. He had a dodgy admin audit done so that he trade in admin recruitment and promotions. Started courses without transparent analyses of costs and future prospects of the students currently in MSc Forensics, the new LLB etc.

Basically extended the degree mill lineage that started with PIB. No surprise NKC went easy on PIB for showing the way.

The 4 resigned from the EC, not from their jobs. And yes every recruitment at least since the days of PIB have had such deals. The 2017 recruitment was a scam but NKC killed the inquiry. One of the complainants passed away another got recruited elsewhere. So the matter got abandoned.

Your best chance is to first acquire the requisite paperwork which shows the wrongdoing, if any. NKC is good with paperwork and likely that he scored his candidate better on subjective side.

If you do get the paperwork (because NUJS often misplaces inconvenient stuff) then lodge a formal complaints separately with the UGC; the Chancellor (CJI), the Law Dept of WB and its Minister. Send copies to VC and Registrar of NUJS. Use a proper courier so that you get the tracking evidence rt. Also email.

At NUJS, inconvenient things are often not brought before the EC and the EC also tacitly allows the VC to paper over such wrinkles.

Rt now and inquiry has been directed concerning the recruitment of a forensic science faculty member. Papers are being actively removed and shredded.

Keep hearing whispers about VK. But no one from NLU Assam or MNLU-N are willing to share actual evidence of wrongdoing. He was quite a character at NALSAR and his name did come up in an inquiry report (Kian had reported on it). But Tau took care of it and VK never went back to NALSAR. Goodness knows which NLU will get him this time.

NLS not only developed the bench strength to pick VCs from its faculty and alumni pools but also fill up VC positions elsewhere too. NLU Ranchi, NLU Trichy etc. Ofc the recent ones are looking to get a reprieve from SKY.

Interesting that Sarasu who had replaced OVN went to Manipal but did not even apply for NUJS or other NLUs.

SKC, SKB, AG and someone from Forensic Sc resigned from EC following a complaint by KS that NKC had been capricious in making these appointments. But SKB had been appointed earlier. Why complain only now? SKB consistently batted for NKC and that too when KS was in the EC along with SB.

By the time AG, SKC and Forensic fellow were brought into the EC, NKC was already on his way out, technically. Don't understand what happened.

I have a reason to ask. I was interviewed for an Asst. Prof. post and I met one of my old friends (who's now at NUJS) when I visited for physical interview. They said "why did you waste money to come here, the post was already promised under the table for one of NKC's stooges, who's been around here for a while doing everything to please NKC". My 7-Panel interview went extremely well, yet the person who my friend named, was selected. Also informal yet very trust-worthy another friend's source, that I was ranked next to this selected person in the merit list.

If the resigned is one among those you named, I can think of writing an email to consider me for the position! It'll be helpful! Whether my request is considered or not. Whether my email makes sense or not, I worked hard for this post, and I believe I deserve a chance at this!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I would suggest that you focus on buying bare acts and getting a subscription to a good legal database like SCC Online instead of buying commentaries. The libraries of most litigators serve no function other than to give of an aura of being "learned" to clients. Physical copies of bare acts see a lot of use unlike commentaries. If you are good at using legal databases, which I would assume you are since you are in litigation, then most commentaries lose their value. A lot of good books can anyway be digitally pirated.

1. Great move, absolutely should be done.

2. This is not as "huge" as you seem to think it is. Somesh Taori, the guy who left NLSIU BALLB for Oxford BA in Jurisprudence a couple of years ago, said that CLAT preparation was useful for his LNAT preparation. So there are already some encouraging potential signs and similarities that can be built upon.

3. Therefore, the correct adjective (or descriptive phrase) might be "hugely encouraging".

4. My personal suggestions:

(a) Absolutely model the CLAT on the foreign tests mentioned. Perhaps the LNAT more than the LSAT, because the LSAT has been known to have issues in terms of disability unfriendlyness - being potentially disproportionately bad for blind test takers.

(b) Abolish the PG CLAT. Stupid exam. No credible country in the world I know of recruits to master's type degrees with a generic admission test like CLAT. Undergraduate performance and CV material is a far better indicator, IMV.

Had this firm on a opposite side in a matter before the DHC. Their drafting skills is outstanding and of course because of the family background involved in the firm their client base is top tier.

I have no idea about their work culture, but you would get to brief top seniors of the country like Geeta Luthra and Siddharth Luthra on a regular basis which is a plus point if one intends to make their base in SC and DHC.

If you want to do a PhD in Delhi. The options I would suggest are JNU>NLUD>Jamia>GGSIPU and then DU. DU is a cesspool of connections and a**-licking. Nothing more and nothing less. You would barely find professors, let alone decent experts. I suggest you apply some place else.

The sad truth is NLUs are molding kids to be corporate paper pushers. They are book smart, project smart, seminar papers smart and grade smart. But not street smart. They have no access to real political party influence. The only politics they have seen is small student body politics for SBCs, which is more a popularity contest for a small group of elites. They don't know what politics really is, forget about how it's played.

On the other hand visit JNU, DU or BHU. Not a day goes by when some or the other socio-political BS-ing is happening. The class work is negligible, but the street work is aplenty. The kids may not be book smart, but they're street smart. These kids will not make it to corporate, because even corporate knows they'd question everything in the internal structures. That's why they make better lawyers, judges and civil servants.

So, if you want to live a simple salaried life, then join NLUs, where you'll be taught to be a paper pushing corporate slave.

Or, get your hands dirty in the real nitty gritty streets by joining DU, JNU or BHU.

Yeah LSAT doesn't work like our entrance exams. It is only one factor. A bad score can create problems but a monkey can score well. I understand if these exams are so hard for you that you feel very special when you do well though. US schools look at much more than test scores. They openly accept legacy students, which you would know if you weren't trying so hard to tell yourself that NLUs are ivy leagues.

Anyone who writes English like this after having studied law at university for at least a couple of years, seemingly, would need a lot more than "a preparation [sic]". I, unfortunately, am unqualified to give guidance on this subject.

Therefore, I will quote a very old man who was a U.S. attorney I used to correspond with at one point of time - he and I belonged to an email list-serve. He had this pet phrase which he used all the time which I love, "Please advise as you like", which he'd use to end every message. Can't help but feel that that's most appropriate here.
