We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Let us look at it objectively. If you pay money to watch a movie or buy a game, the money is going to billion dollar companies and celebs, not the poor. Even here, these companies give it to rich actors and directors, not the cleaners and security guards working in their office. Why does Ranbir Kapoor need more money? Ranbir and Alia just bought a house for 280 crores!
I feel we need a system where everything should be free. Actors can make money through ads and endorsements, canโt they?
A middle-path option is to reduce prices. Instead of 200 bucks for a movie ticket, charge 50.
Presentation tips nobody likes to hear:
- Articulation, speaking with clarity, improving your vocabulary. This becomes part of interview prep later in life as well, but even at work in Indian law firms, your ability to articulate well gives partners confidence that they can put you in client facing situations.
- A more neutral Indian English accent. Metro kids have the advantage on this through their schooling, but a few hours of YouTube and voice coach videos will do the job.
- Grooming and presentation. Splurge 10k on 2 smart outfits that you can wear to all special formal occasions (law firm interviews, moot courts, negotiation competitions - especially at the international level). It's an underrated investment.
Interviews are of limited time and people are continuously making assumptions from what they see and hear from you. I saw a few of my batchmates from small towns transform themselves, and by 4th year nobody could say they can't get a Tier 1 job / vac scheme / TC / do an LLM because they were not from a metro.
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Oh, you're my, my, my, my
Darling, you're my, my, my, my
Lover

Most of my seniors tell me to just relax and enjoy during the break but I really don't want to sit at home and would prefer interning, for example, in Goa for a month rather than going there on a vacation.

Add to this the cut throat politics and the way some partners in dispute openly mistreat juniors is demoralising, makes it very difficult to work, overall itโs not a healthy place to grow.
It's anything but a stress free job.

I'm hoping to get some leads on organizations that are still actively taking on interns from the batch of 2026, as an internship there would be a productive use of time.
If you know of any firms, chambers, or in-house teams that are still hiring, please share the details. Your input would be incredibly helpful to me and many others in the same position.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Thus, it would have been much better if Modi had reduced income tax rates instead. That would really have led to a consumption boom.
So far, Iโve built a good foundation in the Indian Contract Act (till the part on damages). I plan to complete Contract of Agency (Chapter X) soon. Do you think I also need to ensure a solid grasp of Bailment & Pledge (Chapter IX), and Contracts of Indemnity & Guarantee (Chapter VIII) for this interview?
Moreover, for the Companies Act, 2013, apart from basics, Iโm covering:
Chapter III โ Prospectus & Allotment of Securities
Chapter IV โ Share Capital & Debentures
Chapter VII โ Management & Administration
Chapter XI โ Appointment & Qualification of Directors
Chapter XII โ Meetings of Board & Its Powers
Chapter XIV โ Inspection, Inquiry & Investigation
Chapter XV โ Compromises, Arrangements & Amalgamations
Chapter XVI โ Prevention of Oppression & Mismanagement
Chapter XX โ Winding Up
Do you think there are other chapters or specific provisions within the Act I should definitely be well-versed with for a securities/capital markets role?
Also, besides SEBI regulations, what else should I focus on for interview prep?
Lastly, from your experience, whatโs the best way to prepare for such interviews? And once on the job, what core knowledge or skill sets are most valuable for someone working with a capital markets team?
Any insights or guidance you can share would mean a lot.
