Better late than never. It was looking very bad that NLSIU/NALSAR/NLUD were not getting involved. It was sending an incorrect message that T1 NLU students are too elite and do not want to associate with protests by Hindi-speaking students from ordinary backgrounds. Now thankfully that has ended (although the figure of 100 is a bit low).

NLSIU and NLUD will hopefully hold protests this week and then the other law schools will follow. 6 hours hunger strike is doable if your health permits and if you seek medical advice. You are allowed to drink water within this period.

Creative? Not defending the BCI here but honestly there is nothing creative about these people posting on Instagram. Real lawyers actually work at their jobs. Legal influencers just misuse the tag of their universities and jobs while being bad at it and being a liability to their teams too. I would say for once BCI isn't entirely in the wrong here.

Great. This will reduce the competition by pushing out those with creative capabilities and letting only the khadoos , private and non-creative people remain in the sector. (Note: I didn't say that non creative people are khadoos and private, the three are three separate categories)

This reminds me of a joke that John Oliver made about former governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem (DHS secretary formally in the second Trump admin). For Kristi Noem, ensuring that college sports women teams were only played in by biological as opposed to trans women was a huge thing. She even had an add about it. Oliver's joke was, I think, that if somebody from the future who did not know about anything of the past came back with a time-travelling machine and saw Noem's add, they would think that all the problems of the world had been fixed.

Same way, some lawyer who has perhaps been working outside the country for many years and hasn't kept in touch with the Indian scene will think it's seventh heaven! If the "BCI uncle" has time to go after social media posts, then surely India is now a heaven on earth for lawyers? I just don't envy that hypothetical character when he experiences the hard and disconcerting bump of reality - that these guys are wasting time on stupid stuff as usual.

Sure. Go after confidentiality being broken. But isn't it better to go after the senior lawyers? After all, they are supposed to be the ones responsible for giving the students/interns work? If they are prat enough to recruit someone who engages in childish behaviour, I would have thought it is those advocates in chambers or law firm partners whose heads need to be put on the chopping block?

CC there is a limit to being proud. Most of NDMs supporters are genuinely like bots. They lack critical thinking. For them everything is funded by the Bhikari neighbour (No one thinks how can this Bhikari neighbour fund millions of these people). The tough taks dont do the task. They do everything around it.

T1 juniors dont service the client, they service the partner.

Their goal isnt excellence, their goal is strictly billing targets.

Having been there, I found T1s regularly over complicating everything.

They idea is to look busy to client, to partner and to each other.

The general shallowness is only increasing and the low quality shows.

The are hired on their name to satisfy people. Much like consultancies and audit firms.

Nope. Spent nearly 10 years in a T1. Happily out of it. Happier for it. Still have recuiters who buzz me with potential partnership roles in T1s and T2s. They also lie about the roles and the teams.

The only reason recruiters post things like this is because people are now going for irregular non linear paths especially good talent.8pMost don't know much about what we do and do not understand the practical realities as we get senior. Its also the reason why recruiters only succeed at lower levels. They're a intermediary servive - a middleman - who fake being a career coach to get prospective clients.

This makes getting their commissions harder. Their job is to find as many linear career progressionist to push into T1s for their big bucks. When people pull wool over your eyes, always watch out for the incentives at play here.

Market is definitely bad across firms right now. That being said- tier ones have a similar threshold of difficulty to enter - perhaps because of "LUCK".

Merit + Culture + Vacancies = Luck in this context.
Don't try to rationalize anything about a firm - because it'll be a rumor - better to rationalize on basis of TEAMS. Think Marginally.
Don't stress, work anywhere, there will always be a good firm and a good team for you. Vertically move when you get that opportunity. Have faith in God.

There are pros and there are cons.

Pros:

1. He has a vision and conviction to put that in practice.

2. He's obsessed with academic rigour. That's why you see a lot of good folks being hired as faculty.

3. He has curbed a lot of corruption that used to happen earlier. The fiscal management is solid with uni posting a good surplus.

4. While there is a lot of construction on campus, he has been careful to approve designs that cause least amount of environmental damage.

5. Sports facility is top notch.

Cons:

1. My way or highway, doesn't listen to opposition that much.

2. Too much focus on academic rigour, and less on other things like Moots. NLS hasn't won a good moot for a long time.

3. He is adamant that NLS will not allow students to intern at the expense of attendence. Those who do from other NLUs get advantage.

4. The same sports facilities have ensured NLS doesn't have strawberry fields.

5. The expansion, imo, was an exercise designed to achieve a larger vision. But personally, feel that uni was better without expansion.

6. One of the first things he did- remove a number staff hired by previous VCs. While a lot of them did not do much, it did impact those staff adversely.

What’s funny is that it’s 2026, and even today as of a news article in June. Nothings being done. In the era of technology, a murderer just walks free. Meanwhile in my locality a 18 year old guy was framed by his 17year old girlfriends family for POSCO and he got lifetime prison.

This may not be a valid "strike rate" consideration for the 25 year point, but definitely should be for the 50 year point: United Kingdom's King's Counsel designation. As somebody once pointed out on this website itself, a KC from England and Wales often says a good deal more about the person's knowledge of law and analytical abilities than does a Senior Advocate designation. Again, NLSIU has set the benchmark on this front; had it not been for NLSIU and its high achieving graduates, bringing up KC in this conversation would be like talking in a foreign language.
