Sentence structure, same/similar points made over and over again, being a salesperson for litigation. What does this cruel and heartless attempt to mislead potentially gullible kids give you? Alright: Law firm life is certainly not the most fantastic way to be spending your time, I can happily grant that argument, because it isn't. It is, however, a good way to earn lots of money. But to say that litigation is, has to be utter rubbish. Without being a nepobaby, in India, the kind of thing this fantasist is talking about is impossible - utterly impossible - to do. Will this great man come for the GC and ask another great man why student fees keep rising with Leaps & Bounds and we do not get commensurate facilities, security, administrative transparency, responsive academic quality etc? Not a wish list. Just a min since we foot the entire bill that pays for salaries, perks and fancy jaunts of the VC and his acolytes and his traffic in IOUs. Why is this post contested? Records on NUJS website or elsewhere in media don't show SH complaints being made in the initial decade of univ establishment. But thereafter, LI itself reported extensively on the PA vs then AR Admin; the shenanigans of a certain Registrar who was sacked (again kudos to LI for reporting on the Justice PN Sinha inquiry); SJA backed complaints got Lord Taluk to change ICC composition including removal of its then Chair; and now this. Is it also not a fact that after the May 2024 dispatch to DYC the SJA has gone completely silent? Is it also not a fact that several SH and polysubstance abuse complaints are ▮▮▮? Many judges et al in HC and SC know all this since they have their kids, relatives etc studying or teaching here.

Her case was clocked out through "process" while another one happily enjoyed state facilitated jaunt in Canada. A certain insider and a former IAS wrote about this among other shocking details. Why was the defamation case not pursued against him in Cal HC zealously?

Hey, seeing a lot of replies from other peers who have actually interned with the direct tax team censuring the above reply. I wanted to add to the same as my experience was far from what has been claimed here. For context, I was allotted to the Tax team at Delhi at the last minute despite opting for a different practice area and location. I must say that things worked out for the better, I had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Yash Varmani sir who was not only approachable but made the entire experience extremely comfortable considering I wasn't from the city. The associates (and I must specifically mention Ishita Sharma Ma'am) are genuinely sweet and ensured that work was not only allotted but understood. Mistakes were not looked down upon but seen as learning opportunities, for which I will always be thankful. Lastly, I must mention that I later interned with another team of Trilegal in a different location where the experience was completely different and incomparable to the one I had with Himanshu Sinha sir's team in Delhi. I choose not to go into the specifics because as the saying goes, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.

In many countries, even master’s students get stipends, assistantships, and institutional support that make it easier to enter teaching and research. In India, the reality is far harsher: limited opportunities, low pay in private colleges, and far greater competition for NET, JRF, and PhD slots. That’s exactly why people seek guidance. Offering clear advice helps; sarcasm doesn’t. And yes, there are few pvt colleges that allow TA position without a NET, though the salary is very low.

Some advice.

Firstly, on a lighter note change the default to something cheerful sounds. On every device. Sounds silly but the difference is that its intentional. You also stop jumping when other folks phones buzz. Making the buzz different. Its also some form of control you exert back in a life where you have little control. You need to laugh a bit when the buzzer does buzz. Your work is not that serious.

Second, you need to destress. Try to get as much of a physical workout in as possible. Also I cannot stress on how you must cultivate a friends circle outside. Those in office are not your friends. They will sell you out for a bag of crisps. They wait till there is no use for you. So make friends beyond the law or law firms. So, basically, go outside a bit and live outside a bit.

Third, see a doctor and a shrink. This is the beginning of anxiety issues and BP issues. This will translate quickly into physical issues. Do this early - even if you feel alright about it. Many people put this away. If you have family nearby - make time to bond with them on weekends, if you like kids - the better.

Fourth, don't shop or browse the internet.

Start a hobby using your hands instead. It will focus your brain. A good way is to intentionally start eating food cooked by you. Cooking also gets you to take care of your health and usually if you dont go overboard - budget friendly. Lots of good advice around cooking and eating healthy if you know where to look. Main upside, you are doing something for yourself. A treat for yourself. A reward. Its a bit of self love that will go a long way. It tells you why attending those buzzes is helping you live better.

Hey there, I can only imagine the frustration and disappointment you feel. Sometimes I experience similar feelings when interviewing laterally as a mid-level. Unfortunately PPO recommendation to job offer isn't as smooth a journey as one would wish, and all that matters is that you do your best. The fact that you reached PPO interview stage is a good sign that people liked your work and saw you as a potential asset to the team among the dozens of interns they have in a year. Ordinarily HR doesn't make decisions on accepting or rejecting PPO candidates. I spent a few years assisting in PPO recruitments when I was at a T1 firm and these are a few things I've observed in cases where offers weren't made after PPO:

1. The team was actually interviewing ~4-10 interns they liked over the year but only intended to make 1-2 offers.

2. The intern got positive recommendations from all the associates but the interviewing partner was not satisfied with the answer to a technical question.

3. The intern was well liked by the associates, interviewing partners, but some senior partner having influence over the recruiting process preferred that the fresher be in top 20% of their batch, or preferred students from some college.

4. The team decided they didn't need as many first years joining due to external factors (state of economy, attrition in the team, partners split or quit the firm, teams got restructured) so they ended the process.

If you really loved that team, you can always add some members on LinkedIn, or email a few people who gave you work letting them know that you didnt make it through the interview but would like to be considered for an opportunity in the future. T1 firms experience 50-60% attrition within the first 2 years anyway lol.

I agree with this. I’ve been thinking about it for quite some time. Litigation lawyers tend to be much happier after 40, after the initial struggle, since anyone who has worked hard by then has built a client base, become independent, and are generally quite satisfied. They are also more passionate about their work.

What is a good way to ask Partners for work ? I dont want to sound desperate and at the same time I dont want to just say - Can you let me know if you have work which I can do. Im asking for a good, innovative and thoughtful way to get work from a partner . Say like when a Partner is going to potential clients to get work. Optics matters and I feel simply saying I want work is not enough. So please let me know what to say.

SC ruled that article 21 and 19 are enforceable against individuals too. And there was a major judgement on recognising right to privacy as part of art 21 in the putaswamy case. Does this mean that this right can be accessible against private individuals too. For eegxample if someone eveals another person's personal information without their consent

Committee selections depend on whether you know the Convenor/Past Convenor of the Committees. This is the only way to get into committees in almost all colleges. So don't judge yourself by committee selections, that's the worst metric. It does not even add any value to your CV. The admin has glorified it so that they can get these jobs done by students for free. Recruiters don't give a damn.
