Ok, I know very few people have stayed with Clarus as many quit to join somewhere else. Maybe they secure a better paycheck with other firms. But it's not widely known as to why Clarus is unable to retain associates for long. Some other threads on Clarus talk about lack of interaction amongst the associates and no space for informal conversations. Can we discuss the sore points of Clarus. Why do you say that workculture is not good? Is it management problem, or long working hours, or inadequate paycheck? Or something else?

not necessarily grade inflation, but academic standards are non existent. everyone only picks electives that score the best and have the least amount of classes, and the new faculty we're getting from amity/kiit are being encouraged to score outrageously high to stay in the good books of students.

Coz it looks like these clubs are not interested in your family pedigree but in YOU, as long as you can pay the fee (which is peanuts for lawyers).

I have interned in Mumbai office in their real estate team. They do have a good practice. Culture is like any other typical law firm but they are very traditional. In the sense, I didn’t see any freshers in the team. So you won’t experience a gen-z type work culture. Pay not sure.

Hi, I am a Civil Services aspirant - graduated in 2023 from a T-1 NLU. Appeared twice, but no positive results yet. Cleared CLAT PG with a top 20 rank, but not sure of joining a PSU owing to the overwhelming negativity surrounding their work culture, flat growth curve, etc. (most of which I've read on Legally India). I want to write the examination again, but wish for a change in atmosphere to support my family and tackle the gap in my resume. My concern is - if I do not find success in competitive examinations in the near future, would an in-house role at a PSU be that bad? Would I not grow at all? Would I not be able to shift to private roles? What can I do in this situation?

You people should have some self respect. There is crazy hate against Indians right now because of the pace at which we are invading other countries. And one can't even blame them. There isn't a corner of this Earth where our people haven't immigrated to. And then we also export all our embarrassing habits and customs to these countries. Can't believe people would rather be discriminated against and looked down upon in a foreign land so that they can brag that they work in a London law firm than stay in their own country and contribute to its growth.

So I am starting a law school next month. I took a drop after high school to change my field and prepare for CLAT. Almost no luck in that but I was getting T3 NLUs in some remote location or IPU in Delhi. So I'll be taking admission in IPU.
I want to learn about what to do in law school when starting out. I wanna land a T1 firm with a PPO most probably because placement just doesn't exist in IPU. Kindly give some advice to a younger brother.

He is a very good lawyer, but he is an absolutely No.1 boss. Worked with him, he was generous, tough, used to joke with us, but he and Hari Ma'am treats us as family even after we leave. Always pushed us to be our best - rare with compliments but always acknowledges junior contributions. And let all of us do our independent work as well.

Very long ago when I joined this place, it was an amazing office to work with and doing very well as a firm. One amongst the best in the Country. I remember people sitting in high places but not in NCR used to try for getting their children an internship with the firm and it was not offered to all. Over the years, with the passing of RKL, VS and others and few leaving for other ventures, some doing good some not, LnL has just faded. My first foreign trip happened because of this firm and many more all due to this firm. Good memories and feeling of sadness to what happened later. Once RKL in a meeting said that he made this firm after studying many great firms of the past but now i.e., then faded in history. Sadly LnL of what it was has joined that league. SAD!!!

I dont get law students. Yall brag about such inconsequential nonsense. If some governors attend your convocation- what happens? do you become better at being a lawyer? does your salary get increased? do you get more job fulfillment? does your degree somehow mean more? Not everything is branding and PR. learn to recognise when administrations are doing things for your benefit and for their own benefit.

If you're someone who deals with the 237 page template day in and day out, 9 hours is fine. You know the few edits that would've been made to a standard template you're familiar with.

If this is a document you're seeing first time in your life, 9 hours isn't enough. You need time to look up the applicable law and understand concepts.

Until and unless you're a 1st year (which obv isn't possible in this calendar month); 9 hours is too long a time for you to complete review... And also, if they're laughing let them, they're not your friends, they're your bosses.. and in all fairness every single law student is laughed off at some point during their internship.. be a good sport and focus on work completing instead of other things

We need manufacturing - from ships to needles and everything in between - to be a developed country. ChatGPT and TikTok will not generate employment for your average unemployed rural Indian who lives off dwindling farm income or works for less than a dollar a day. This chump as governor and since has been harping on services to boost gdp growth and exports without realising that tech giants, law firms and capital markets do not create wealth for the masses. I'm not arguing that these are not important, but the thrust of government policy should not be to create an Indian ChatGPT. Not in a thousand years will we be a developed country with the current approach towards economic growth.

What good is government policy that focuses on creating and then extracting as much wealth as possible from the top 10% to distribute to the other 90% in the form of freebies or state support without any objective to build capacity through good education, healthcare, and nutrition in the 90%. Those who create wealth are not rewarded, those who are dependent on the state are not empowered. State policy has been to offset our inability to develop human resources through technology - a systematic problem that no one wants to address. Thus, emerges our perpetual state of mediocrity.
