How are the kids doing better than their NUJS counterparts exactly? Not in placements, not in higher studies with scholarships, not in policy bodies. Good faculty being attracted to NLUD hasn't happened in the last four years. As for Delhi, it sure has its advantages, but you need to have a death wish too in terms of environment and safety issues alone.

Not sure how to feel about corporate law firms turning their logos rainbow for Pride Month — and then a few, like Khaitan and IndusLaw, not doing even that. I wish there was something more. A rainbow logo isn’t enough, but it’s something (or are they just doing it cause its trendy??). Most queer folks in law still feel unsafe being out at work. We need real support — not just gestures.

There is a lot of scaremongering here, so let me add my two bits.

I am a native Bangalorean, but almost every one of my friends has moved here from another city. All of them love Bangalore, and are proud to call it their home.

Firstly, there are no mobs going around, and looking for Hindi speakers/ "North Indians" to attack. Any "anti-Hindi sentiment" you hear about is almost always limited to a situation where someone rudely demands that locals speak Hindi, and are told "It's not our national language". This is almost always triggered by some larger fight, and language is just an incidental strawman that is brought up.

As long as you pick up some 6-8 words of basic Kannada, start with them, and politely ask if people can speak English or Hindi (or Tamil, which also works well in Bangalore), you'll be fine. Almost everyone in Bangalore can speak both Hindi and English at a conversational level (including vendors and cab drivers), but let them lead with the language of choice, and you'll be OK.

Coming to "identity politics"- the government is basically promoting more Kannada. This means that they are pushing for more jobs for Kannada speakers, more visible use of Kannada, and quotas at a lower level (think security guard, sweeper, etc) for Kannada speakers in private firms. There are also local quotas in education (including in CLAT) for people with "Kannada domicile"- but if you look at the names at the top, there are a lot of Agarwals and Mukherjees and Kurians and other non-Kannadiga names. As long as they've been in Karnataka for the qualifying period, they are counted as "locals" and can avail the quotas.

There is also a backlash against the government's push of Hindi over Kannada- and this is a real problem for many people, especially in rural areas. For many years, bank forms were only available in English and Hindi. There was an incident last week where a public sector bank manager refused to help customers who only spoke Kannada, insisting that they speak Hindi. There were instances of some signboards being only available in Hindi and English. A lot of the "language and identity politics" that you speak of comes from trying to correct these Central Government missteps. It's sad that a State government has to step in and do all this, but think about it from the perspective of those who are not getting basic services in their own state and in their own language.

Bangalore is still a vibrant and thriving city, with all the things that makes a city amazing- food, culture, art, sports, and a strong economy. Don't let Twitter and Reddit hot takes scare you away.

Relax. 90% of folks at tier-1s are lateral entries. The illness excuse is genuine but honestly, no one will care. Rather than begging for a new job, go with what you have for a couple of years and then shift. You may think you’re very knowledgeable but that doesn’t mean others will perceive you similarly, especially an experienced partner.

I come from a Tier-1 NLU but couldn’t secure a job during Day Zero as I was genuinely unwell, which had a significant impact on my preparation and performance. Later, I did secure a job through Day 1 placements in an in house role, with decent pay and prospects. However, I have a strong and genuine interest, as well as knowledge and experience in financial laws (securities law/ banking law/ M&A)

I recently gave interview through individual application, the partner specifically questioned why I didn’t get a law firm job through Day Zero. They did not seem very willing to accept my reason of illness. I understand that many candidates might use excuses, but it’s disheartening when a genuine situation is seen the same way. It felt like they were thinking: “If he didn’t make it through Day Zero, why should we consider him now?”

I’m struggling to understand how to land a role at a law firm, especially in the teams I genuinely aspire to work with. This has always been my dream, and honestly, I know I am better equipped, both in terms of skill and dedication, than many who were or are being hired. Circumstances weren’t in my favour at that particular point in time, but why should that define my future? Why not assess me based on where I stand now?

A decent job isn’t enough to satisfy me, I want to do the work I truly care about. I’m just looking for a fair chance. I really need someone to help me out.

Section 7(5) of Companies Act 2013, provides in case false information is submitted to Registrar, such person will be liable for action under section 447.

Section 447 specially provides a definition of fraud says such xyz actions against the company or its creditors or any other person. Mind the word (it’s).

Now if such fraud is declared after submission of documents to registrar and before incorporation of company, how will such instance come within purview of definition of fraud?

Don't give me the usual bullshit about free speech. Remember that the exercise of any right - including free speech - has consequences. Exercise that right of free speech you have, just like everyone else. i have met some of the most wonderful humans in my good for nothing law college. i am on my second litigation internship and i see that you are right to say all this but opposite is also true. maybe it is about the people who you are around(energy vampires)? this may all be true in how legal profession works in some way but i dont think you are giving yourself the opportunity to see the entire picture. if you are in highly competetive environment of course that can take a toll on your well being. it really is such a rewarding field. there is just so much help to give but if you stay at the wrong places around wrong people with wrong incentives feeling like this is to be expected.

Stop harping on about reservation seats or whatever, attend an NLU and see the sheer economic and geographical disparities in our high school system. NLUs give students from tiny villages a chance to make it big. You getting a CLAT rank of 800 while you went to the best English-medium schools in metro cities is nothing to write home about while reservation kids in NLUs getting ranks of 900-1000 when they came from absolutely nothing and some of their parents never went to school or spoke English
