A simple reading of the detailed advertisement will reveal in unambiguous terms that the process of calling candidates in for an interview is not supposed to be discretionary and the scheme itself expects meritocracy to be followed, although the contrary has always been the norm. The subjectivities could be evaluated after conducting an interview of the same candidate. This preliminary screening is not based on any metric except for any influence and referrals the successful candidates might have use. I’ve been on the inside, I’ve seen how things work and you cant change my mind.

As a Bo30 student going to a T1 NLU, I really hope Intro culture is phased out gradually over time, but I fear it's here to stay - I don't think it adds anything of benefit towards your interactions with others aside from providing a superficial idea of you who are on the basis of which cliques are formed, alongside allowing you to make judgements about others based on preconceived notions without properly giving yourself the chance to ascertain the depth of someone's character. That's not to say it's wrong necessarily or anything else of the sorts, since ultimately it's something people do of their own volition, and those who do opt in seem to be content with their choice, but having it be something which is nigh-obligatory nowadays essentially in order to be able to fit in is something which is increasingly problematic in my opinion.

Yes there are. Boutique firms or small firms do this. They would either blatantly deny that such xyz person has never worked or give very bad review on that person's employment.

That said, no matter what never leave your existing firm on a bad note. I repeat. Never. T1 firms do a lot of background verification. So keep that in mind.

For your first question. As a Final year student or recently graduated/fresher - you got to push your self to push your own CVs. Reach out to HRs or partners or their dedicated recruiting teams. If you have some sought of connections, tell them to refer you. The first year (after graduation) is always difficult. You can't do anything except hope that some kind-hearted firm provides you the opportunity and willing to take risk in hiring a fresher.

For your second question. I have already stated in the above. And the answer is no. There ain't any platforms.

I might get downvoted for this. Buts guys remember that this is a anonymous platform. Thats the whole purpose of it. Asking for job leads or internships, partners credentials or HRs, would only create more trouble for your prospects of getting shortlisted or selected for an internship.

My suggestion - do a bit of research. Try finding email ids from friends and via networking. Trust me get into the right crowd in your college you would get all relevant email ids.

I agree. NLUs are terribly mismanaged. Just look at NLS. Dogshit placements and they're starting xyz courses. With 9 crores in profit, least they could do is reduce the obscene fees. But no- they wanna build fancy glass buildings in ecosensitive areas. They'll fill in more of the admin with Azim Premji profs and staff. Now the "BA" course will be a new money minting scheme for NLS. Never thought my own college would go down this terribly.

How important it is for callback/ppo? What it is really about? Like do we have to make a novel point or simple analysis is enough? Does the presentation need to be something extraordinary out of the box? Also, what if I don't have great speaking skills? Do I stand a chance? What level of speaking skills is required? I’m an incredibly awkward person (currently an A2 / 3) and feel way out of my depth during client meetings. While my partner generally leads to discussions or negotiations and I’m always quick to resolve any queries that come up, I don’t know how to engage in general discussions.

So I gave my everything and worked my ass off for this exam and messed up on D day. Mostly because of that sitting arrangement set (I couldn't get much time for QT because of tensing over that set). It was a horrible mess all my 2 year prep just came to an end and despite consistently topping my coaching and even being in the so called elite batch of toppers, I still failed. December to June was a really depressing time period. I got 22** rank and wasn't getting a good college but I had filled NRI Sponsored for the worst case scenario which actually happened and filled NLUO nri forms because I'm not rich and that's the cheapest nri college I can afford (price point is similar to private colleges like SLS, nirma, nmims). I didn't want to join because again I felt like a loser for getting in a college through NRI, I didn't deserve to study there (thanks to my parents for reinforcing this mentality). But recently I have started to think a bit rationally I am thinking of joining NLUO. But I am a bit scared about how NRI students are treated. Because I don't even belong to a rich elite class so that incase I get outcasted by general students, I can be friends with the NRI quota students 😭 I am sure I can repay the hefty loan within 3-5 years but I am a really concerned as to will this quota affect my college life. Networking is not merely restrains to social relationships. Be a better holistic individual and it goes a long way. General knowledge skills would be one such aspect. Be as aware you can be about things that you believe are outside the scope of law, that itself helps in being a better law professional. Not very long since my graduation either, but I do believe it has helped me in ways I myself don't completely understand. Hope this helps.
