UAE is a clear no-no. Maybe after 5-6 PQE at a tier 1 Indian law firm or a tier 2's star/specialized practice area; shifts as a registered foreign lawyer is possible in the Middle East. But there are many complications to begin with and with that said, choose practice areas like Banking Finance/Capital Markets/International Arbitration to move across countries.

This is a slightly fun and lighthearted question—just curious, in your experience or observation, which law firms in India are known for having the most stylish or attractive teams (partners, associates, or interns)? Of course, beauty is subjective, and this is all in good humour. No offense meant—just looking for some friendly gossip and general vibes.

Haters gonna hate but these are some ground truths:

1. Jindal has good faculty who train the students well.

2. No expense is spared to give the teams whatever support they want. Teams don’t waste time begging to law firms for funds.

3. Very good students who would otherwise have been in NLUs are heading to Jindal nowadays, thanks to all kinds of quotas and reservation in NLUs pushing them out.

4. Most Jindal students are anyway from elite ICSE/IB schools and have highly developed reading, writing and speaking skills in English. This gives you a natural edge in moots.

5. Finally, there is no incestuous NLU cabal when it comes to judging foreign moots. If anything, many foreign judges have heard of Jindal but not certain NLUs, because Jindal has extensive international tie-ups abroad and sends many students abroad each year.

Hi guys, I am from the 2026 batch from a T1 NLU and have my PPO interview scheduled for Khaitan & Co (General Corporate - Mumbai Office)

Can someone please guide me on the whole process what to prepare, who takes the interview, how much time does it take them to revert after the interview etc.

This is pretty urgent, considering it is scheduled next week. It would be great if some seniors, and community can help me with the preparation part.

The practice you have picked up is a distinguished practice, there are a few firms which do it. The top names being Trilegal, finsec law advisors, ic universal legal etc. start applying for internships, it is the only way to upskill yourself and work up your way to this practice. Try applying with Vidhii Partners, you'll get an internship slot in the next 2 months. There are other firms which have good number of matters, prakash shah and associates, then there is regstreet. Keep yourself updated with the recent orders passed by SEBI, SAT. Since this practice is a v specialised area of law, you must read alot and understand so as to get into the practice.

Yes. If you stick around for 6 months, you will be made A0. There is so much attrition in Swarnima's team that they will have no option but to convert you into a full time A0.

Trilegal has many good employment lawyers. Atul, Veena etc - try joining these teams once you become an A0 or go somwhere else. Even newbie partners like Parvati and Maggon are good, but they may not be having teams of their own.

I understand that the DR&A team would deal with litigation and arbitration. But then there are other dedicated teams such as competition, projects or tax which take care of all advisory, documentation and litigation surrounding their team. In that case what other kinds of litigation is left to be taken care of by DR&A?

In the last 6 years I have come across them:

Firm 1-my old firm: ruined the culture and made everyone hate the managing partner even though he is a nice guy.Firm 2-my girlfriend's firm: made the partners look like jokers on social media.

Firm 3-where I interviewed but rejected it when I heard they were in charge of HR: turned HR into a ▮▮▮.

Partners still love them because they get them fat salaries and new jobs.

gender studies professors are not biologists. And there are no human rights that require the world to believe a blatant lie. There are only two sexes in mammals. This is not a situation where a compromise is acceptable. Did you read the judgment? tell me which judge on the court is conservative? you dont know do you? conservative is just a word youre throwing out there thats not based in reality and thats meant to make people react in a tribal way. If too many non client bringing partners become equity partners then such organisations won’t last for too long. Equity partners should mandatorily be rain makers, they should be able to create employment for others not just for themselves- for any law firm to survive in the next decade as well when the senior partners retire.

I am a salaried partner and my equity partner doesn’t refer any work to me. He doesn’t even intend on helping me become an equity partner and doesn’t guide me in doing BD. I am surviving somehow with existing firm relationships. My peers got their entire book handed over to them from their equity partners. I don’t even expect this -only some guidance but apparently that’s too much too. My equity partner got his book from his previous EP but he mocks me for not having enough clients. Law firms are becoming a play ground for politicians - bureaucracy, corruption and favouritism. No place for merit or actual legal skills. If you are good at politics you will thrive.
