We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.

Just crack it and there will be no looking back. You will be richer and happier in the long run. Of course, itβs hard to make it to the top IIMs, especially if you are a non-EWS general category student. But you can try the IITs, the lower IIMs or even NIFT (MFM - Masterβs in Fashion Management) along with private institutions like ISB, FORE, MICA etc. Even Symbiosis isnβt bad. Worst case go to Jindal for an MBA. Good luck!
You have these choices:
1. You suck it up, I don't think they will make your partner anytime soon and will keep you hanging. You will have to take up non-specialised work to make up for the Senior Partners' revenue shortfall. Somehow show your mettle there and play hardball to extract partnership.
2. If you have to move: you can either go to one of the B&F Tier 1s/ or lower Tiers/Banks/Financial Institutions In-House Positions
I totally understand that these M&A matters can create issues for you since transactional experience is quite important (in any practice area). See if you can consider joining non tier 1 firms who are looking to expand. There are quite a few of them and will be happy to get someone so experienced.
Let me know how to connect with you, let's figure something?
TYSMMMMM in advance for any leads
No, and most of us don't. We are expected to have functional language skills - i.e., ability to work with complex material, communicate complex and convoluted ideas in a simple way and do that persuasively, and explain complex things to people who don't understand them. This obviously requires a strong vocabulary, but it doesn't require use of flowery or fancy language on a daily basis. Read some good books (non-fiction and fiction) to build your communication skills.
As far as career choices go, keep applying to law firms/chambers and something will turn up for sure. Start from somewhere and don't let the stagnation rot you. Keep moving, even if it's only an inch better than where you were.
Please give this route a shot, if not, come back here and I will tell you a way to get in touch with me.
DU is like Cristiano Ronaldoβbuilt on grit, discipline, and consistent excellence. NLUs, on the other hand, are like Leicester Cityβflashes of brilliance but not always the dominant force. Most of the real gems will always come from Faculty of Law.
2. What role can they play?
3. What role do universities like Oxford play in the context of their societies? Maybe specifically, what role does Oxford play in the context of UK society?
4. Why and how are these different to what Indian universities can do or should be doing?
- if u canafford it but want to go under the radar, quiet Luxury, then go for - Jeager Le Coultre, Parmiggiani Fluerier, A.Lange and Sohne.
- if u want to look rich but dont want to shell out Mercedes car like money - Cartier (either tank or santos, they have quartz models for them so not very expensive), Tissot PRX Damian Lillard, oris divers 65 in full bronze.
for the top 2 options i would not buy from Authorised dealers - better off in secondary markets.
for 3rd option i would buy from authorised dealer.
I understand that they slightly differ from the non-litigation salaries. Any insights would be helpful!
Some of the firms I'd be interested to know the salaries of are:
1. Veritas Legal
2. Argus Partners
3. KCO
4. JSA
5. P&A
6. DSK
Please provide insights on the other firms as well, thank you!
As I know their family personally so the family/financial situation is ruled out? What is something related to academics/personal life/relationships or something else.
Maybe his friends or anyone who was aware about what he was going through.
Yet to be seen if SAM would pay bonus to A0s or was the announcement just another stint/ jumla.
Although, I am not sure as to which career path I will follow (judiciary, JAG, corporate, etc.), but would having a LinkedIn profile be strongly recommended in case of a corporate career?
My current understanding is that neither colleges nor law firms mandate it, but would having one make life a hell of a lot easier compared to not?
How is barbri?
