Better to do BA from NLSIU and then make use of the 10% institutional reservation in their LLB. Even if you change your mind about reading law by the end of your BA, you would still be in a better position to pursue other career strams. NLSIU, without a doubt, offers better company in terms of fellow students and faculty and will only improve your career prospects.

In life and in academics, do that which you find enjoyable and stimulating. What gives you pleasure will also make you sincere in doing it. When you come across someone with similar tastes, then you may join their company for the same. A relationship founded on passion and interest is more likely to be fruitful and intellectually adventurous than a relationship that arises from a moment of envy or jealousy. Even so, not every relationship premised on shared interests or admiration will last forever. But it will have contributed to your education and will have made of you of a better person by clarifying what you really want out of life and what you expect from others. To wit, the fear of missing out on something or someone is actually a fear of not knowing who we are, what we want to do, and who we seek to meet. Hence the anxiety of seeing others and thinking that they already know who they are and what and who they want. But that is an illusion of our youth. They are as uncertain as you. Embrace the uncertainty. For it is the depth of what you feel that truly matters and not how many feelings you have. Follow your own calling and you will not be led astray by others. The very concept of states emerges after the creation of the union when princely states and colonial provinces were harmonized into states. Tamil Nadu, as it stands today, did not exist in 1947. It is one of the successor states to Madras. Therefore, it is the Union that precedes and determines the states.

Just because NEP is a policy does not make it irrelevant. The Union enjoys precedence over policy-making when it comes to education. Even NEET-UG or JEE are components of that policy. Does that mean a state can choose to not recognise them? No. Does that mean that a state can refuse to implement a lawful policy while demanding the discretion to use as it sees fit the funds attached to that policy? No.

1. NEP is a policy, not a law, so Union has no precedence. At best it has advisory value.

I currently have an offer from a T2 firm but in their b&f team(pay is good). However I'm really interested in the intersection of law and technology which is why I'm more interested in data protection/IP/AI related roles. If I take this offer, is there any way I can switch to tech law later? (I have a lot of internship exposure in this field)

I would like to make a correction to this. It is not studying a particular subject that improves your capacity for critical thinking. It is the competition that does it. It is true that lowering of standards in non-science disciplines in India has led to relatively lower quality of competition in most schools where they are taught. But the good schools across the country teach humanities just as rigorously as science, of not more. In other words, a consistent pedagogic standard of scholastic achievement is what matters.

I think it is safe to say that all parties are habitual offenders when it comes to violation of fundamentals rights. But what frustrates me the most here is as to why the subordinate judiciary is so deferential to executive authority even in those cases with well established case law from higher judiciary that privileges personal freedom.

It is irrelevant that it is going to be in the Olympics. It is a dumber/simpler version of more ‘athletic’ and technical racquet sports. A lot of washed out/low ranking tennis professionals have taken up pro pickleball and they are finding great success which means it is simpler and quite ‘unathletic’, of course relatively speaking. Can’t deny the truth like this you know.

If you are comfortable could you please explain why do you want to leave judgeship? Is it because of

a) lower pay compared to law firms

b) judicial politics with regard to promotions

c) quality of courtrooms and court support staff

d) quality of lawyers who appear before you

The firm has a very high attrition rate. Two/Three A0s from the batch of 2024 have already exited the firm. They have chosen to not stay even beyond probation. The lack of guidance, unreasonable expectations and timelines are a perfect recipe for disaster. Please try to avoid this firm as much as possible.
Aditionally, the compensation scheme flaunted by the firm is misleading. They pay "Band 1" Associates 12+4, however they pay meagre bonuses to A0s because the probation period does not count when calculating bonuses. Moreover, as an A1 also you fall within the same Band 1, therefore you will be paid the same 12lacs as the A0 with more bonus from the 4 lacs variable.

Where did you get this misinformation from ? In the recently conducted PhD interviews for Delhi University, 650 students appeared for the interview from all across India. Our of which, around 100-150 were from NLUs. I myself met grad from tier 1 NLUs. Majority want to pursue PhDs, unfortunately NLUs only intake not more than 10-15. So they opt for central universities where there are larger vacancies

Unfortunately all too common. Years ago when I was an associate I was spending crazy amounts of money on acne and dermatitis treatments so when it was Holi I politely declined any colours. My Partner at the time called me a spoilsport and in front of the EP rubbed gulal on my face while I stood there mute and unable to do anything. I felt violated and the very next day I had a bad flare up. In a meeting that week, my partner asked me to stop eating junk food if I wanted my skin to clear up.

Indian law firms are a cesspool of horrible, toxic behaviour.

the pros and cons of any city reduced to such pointers are not the complete picture.

yes some solid and uniform issues are pollution, lack of safety, and people being rude because everyone only looks out for them in this city.

and some solid pros are the food, greenery/parks, legal world being gigantic here, etc.

BUT these things dont affect your day-to-day that much, that will still depend on whether u like ur job, if u are financially stable in the city to enjoy its perks, and whether you have friends/family in the city. a person's actual reality is affected a lot more by their job, colleagues, boss, and their social life (friends, partner, flatmates), etc.

for eg- how bad is the traffic? depends on your commute. how unsafe is the city at night? varies depending on the area and where you are (a house party or the road). people being rude? sure you might encounter rude strangers, esp if u drive, but most people you meet in law/social circles, super friendly and welcoming. delhi is a rare city where people from different states and of different languages are welcomed.

If you have a solid reference from the very top of the legal field, is it possible to enter laterally into a Tier 1/2 law firm litigation team, even if there are no vacancies at the present moment? Also, will they take your few years of Lit experience (4-5) into account? OR Will they start you off at A0?

2. are r y'all expected to have immaculate vocabulary and speaking skills generally? (this question comes because recently I was having a conversation with my father and he told me I don't give off lawyer vibes because maybe I don't have the passion to be one he said first thing go improve your vocabulary but didn't tell me how to do it so I would love your two cents on this)

I am 21 graduate working with a tier 3 law firm having multiple offices in India. Have been working here more than 2 years now and I am fed up of the management. I am working from the Delhi office of the firm and they have made me some "office incharge".

The pay I am getting is in the range of 9-10LPA. The management is constantly harassing me to procure clients and to do only liasioning work.

There is no growth and there is constant harassment by my partners seated in Mumbai and Hyd.
- The salary is delayed every month with the reason that the Delhi office is not doing billing.
- No partner has visited the office in last 6 months to help generate revenues. - Partners are not aware of basic laws
- Holding up expenses without any reason

Have been giving interviews left, right and centre but not getting any good offers even matching my pay. Tier 1 are rejecting my cv just because I am from lower tiered law firm. Have certain responsibilities so getting a pay cut will be very difficult. Kindly advise what should I do, I am stuck in this loop.
