In all seriousness, the following practices will be obsolete in the 10 years from now-
1. ECM for sure, Gen AI can replace all their templatized BS. Also B&F.
2. Tax has GOT to leave the lawyers and go to the CAs ffs.
3.M&A/ Funds will be reduced to research questions, procedural assistance, and legal opinion. Due diligence will be the out of human touch.
4. HR, except one lady in the front desk, all internal HR will be external.
5. Labour/ IPR should only see a surge as the Indian government is trampled by capitalism and India finally becomes a developed country, theres more than drafting here, so AI could be of less use.
6. Litigation will NOT be replaced by AI in 10-15 years. It will continue its victorian practices.
As a ECM Lawyer in UK/ US/ Singapore, no you would not. You sound like an intern. The costs are alarmingly high, and the work is monstrous.
Regarding IITD, I would request you to please consider that the faculty at their HSS department has consistently embraced the worst examples of critical theory in their academic work and pedagogy. The leading spokesperson of this is currently Prof. Dwivedi whose public pronouncements would be worth debating here if they were not so obviously born of her own partisan resentments. She had a major role in starting their new PG programme on culture, society, and thought where the faculty can now freely continue their indoctrination of students without rigor and with the stamp of an IIT, no less. They don't discuss in class what they disagree with. They simply label it as “problematic” or “misogynist” or whatever other adjective that puts others on the defensive. Those who are familiar with this pernicious critical ideology that divides humans into groups of domination and oppression can easily make out the anti-intellectualism of papers that talk about caste-based reparations or label an entire group, such as Brahmins in this case, as wholesale oppressors. There is no rigor/logic in these positions and they do not contribute to human knowledge. They confuse activism with intellect. They are just mimicking the fashions of the West because that is how a predominantly left-dominated academia rewards the groupthink of its members. Their research interests are hardly organic. In ten years, they will again borrow something from their counterparts in the West. Most of them don't even do any fieldwork to justify the outrageous claims in their publications.

2. Very serious, with high potential for hospitalisation of one or more of the impacted parties.
Also, another con. People are a lot less diverse. You will find people who have migrated from other parts of India. In general the localities aren't a treat to talk or be with.
1) Good exposure to litigation work, and increasingly, even corporate, real estate, and energy law.
2) Very friendly and helpful people, with a large heart. By and large honest and straight forward people who do not beat around the bush when something needs to be said.
3) Low cost of living when compared to Bangalore and Bombay.
4) Hindi being the only language really spoken around (except for a bit of Punjabi and Haryanvi), so language is not an issue, as long as one can speak Hindi.
Cons:
1) Very bad weather for 9 out of 12 months (it seems like the summer never ends, and the air conditioner needs to be turned on all day during summers, and not just at nights). Surprisingly very humid weather in the last two years at least, during summers, humidity almost as bad as Bombay.
2) High levels of pollution.
3) Unsafe at night, at least in certain areas. Been told that East Delhi in particular gets super unsafe during the night. Have also been advised not to venture out even in South Delhi though after 10-11 at night.

These DSK videos disturb us because it's right on the nose but if there's a problem with non-compliance with BCI rules, then all material including these celebratory LinkedIn posts and instagram reels of practicing lawyers "educating" people equally qualify as ads/solicitation for work and should also be banned with a sweet SCN to each. I say so because you are not required to educate people, if someone does not hear you speak/read those very words you have to put, it's not like the sun won't rise again. It's basically unnecessary, conceited because the purpose to get your name out there and you tooting your own horn.
I am interested to see how it pans out for the DSK folks, I like some mirch-masala as the next guy but the issue has to be dealt with properly and holistically because the abuse, in my humble opinion, is rampant across the bar.
If it’s IP then Saikrishna Delhi office is the best, Bangalore office is kinda meh and dead.

I am currently an A2 in the PE team of a T-1 and have recently been interviewed for a position at Touchstone Partners, Mumbai. Could you please throw some light on the salary at Touchstone, and how the growth looks like. I understand from a Bar and Bench article that they pay the highest at the fresher level (around 22lpa), however, there is no info about the comp at senior levels. Is it similar to T-1s or higher (just as the fresher level salary)?
Would really be grateful if I could get some info at the earliest as I might have my salary negotiation coming Monday.

This Delhi system of giving salaries to juniors is absolutely bad. Made a mess of juniors. The learning curve is just 0 and nothing compared to what you'd be learning in Bombay or Calcutta where the pupilage system is followed and beggars don't come asking for salaries.

JRF/NET is an option, but not mandatory. Candidates without these can be taken with the Institute Scholarship. The scholarship or fellowship amounts are the same in both cases (i.e. those with institute scholarship and those with JRF/NET fellowship).
