Criminals deserve to be kicked out and punished. Rules may make sense or not but if one set of people can follow them why can’t these special set of people follow??

and this might be a basic question but how do you build connections? Through internships, thats one way for sure. But, do academics and extra curricular activities such as moot courts play a huge HUGE part in landing you internships/jobs in tier 1/2?

People should ask their parents to chill out. It's not true, if you're good enough you're good enough. There is an advantage that NLU kids have because of their alumini network is very resourceful in firms. You can bridge that with making connections yourself.

It was started by NLU kids pretending they're above everyone and it is being carried by non-nlu kids trying to get the 'victim of system's pathway. Both stupid.

Intern, learn, good grades, figure out an interest area, actually read and update yourself in that area and basics of law. You'll be okay.

As long as people like you are among my countrymen/countrywomen, I admit that yes, it wouldn't be cool for me. In fact, I would go so far as to freely admit that if I had come to know that a person with your lack of intellectual depth and bitter, vindictive personality was an Indian citizen and if I had been in London as part of our high commission's diplomatic staff rather than as a private citizen (clarification: I am here as a private citizen), I'd have asked our high commissioner here (after reading this comment) if our flag could be lowered to half-mast to mourn the ill fortune to which our country is forever a slave (the ill fortune being that our beautiful land is only fit for trolls rather than for heros because of the scumm, like you, within our midst).

If we had truely made progress as a society, we would have cured this chip on our shoulders about British honours. This is why I think your comment is slightly disappointing. I think most of us would have been equally happy if this had been a KC in Canada or an SC in some Australian states, for example.

I am mad because the legal profession in this country is full of mediocre people who should have never been allowed to graduate with a law degree in the first place. If you weren't mediocre, we'd all be spending much less time here because we'd be congratulating these Indians who've achieved star-like things and moving on with our lives. You are no better than the white people and Asians in the U.S. who file lawsuits against universities when they don't get in because they think mediocre black kids got in at their expense.

That is true. But what you do need is a reality check, which I am giving you free of charge! You don't have academic ability, that is clear. Otherwise, you'd let others carry on with their achievements and genuinely try to achieve something yourself, instead of bitching about people who have achieved stuff.

I am sure the guy is a brilliant one and deserves every bit of success that he gets, but why exactly is this supposed to be a laudable achievement? Why are we so hung up on approval or acceptance from the British? We should rather be sad that such a brilliant mind will not be put to use to serve our own country and the hundreds of people here who could have benefited from his work. We couldn't provide him with the opportunities that he deserved, so he left us.

This will sound like an excuse but unfortunately, I was dealing with pretty bad situations back at home and the reality of this field started hitting me at the same time too....so my younger self was unable to cope with all of that along with the new environment which eventually impacted my initial 2 semesters pretty badly. Not trying to gain any sympathy here but I just want a way out of this hell hole I have lent myself into.

One of the biggest requirements for defining any category is not to make it so wide that it loses its meaning. This definition seems like that. Every decision that is taken by a guy earning 12LPA and one earning above 1CPA, let alone 5 CPA, is so different that lumping them together in any category is a bit of a joke, really.

Equating someone earning 12 lpa and 3-4 crore PA itself shows how little attention this article deserves, not to mention that most individuals earning above 40-50 lpa are likely in intermediate-senior positions in companies, which definitely allows for transferable positions abroad, if not providing the direct choice to switch over to foreign positions

In house job is mostly about following up with law firms, the decisions being finally taken by law firm partners and commercial guys. Just saying, practically. Unless ofcourse you are a big shot in-house with a lot of experience in some blue chip company.

Hello. Thank you for sharing insight on this. Can you tell which role of in-house will help in growth in career? I have been offered an in house role at a tech company. The role pertains to IP management, contract drafting, assist in dispute resolution. But I feel I will get bored of it pretty soon. even in terms of growth, I have seen companies preferring people who have worked at law firm in the senior positions , rather than promoting the in house counsels as the Legal head. I have 1 PQE. My question is : 1) is it okay if I take up in house role at the beginning of my career ? 2) if I do get bored of this, can I switch to law firms ? Is it possible? 3) to grow as an in-house what kind of roles shall I look for? I want to do much more than doing most managerial work like maintaining history, IP portfolio management, contract management. How do I become part of the legal decision making for the company? I do not have work life balance as my priority at the moment, I do not mind putting in long hours. So either I’ll be studying judiciary along with in house role or I will get into litigation firm and put in long hours. Which out of the two is the best to maximize my potential?

I'm from a mid tier NLU and have completed 7 semesters. Due to certain mental health issues, i have not been scoring a good gpa in the past 2-3 semesters. I am working hard to uplift it, but could you tell me what are the possible consequences of the slump i have been facing? How much importance is attached to grades by law firms, in foreign opportunities or judiciary interviews.?
