Sigh.. I wish I could be this rich 😞
I am wondering if lawyers working at these contractual jobs can later transition their career into GDPR compliance/Privacy Law practice as in-house counsels and then later into Big 4 ?
Though theoretically it seems far fetched but can anyone give some insights on whether i should considering joining such job as we all know what litigation holds for new joiners.
What we have here is the sort of Indian man who lacks any interesting or redeeming qualities. Finds someone on bharatmatrimony and marries her based on looks. Does nothing to get to know her character before marriage- because he cannot imagine women having those. Expects goodly wife who will serve his parents and not make trouble. He finds, however that getting a wife on the internet without actually having spent any time learning if you like each other and if you get along is bound to lead to all sorts of trouble.
This isn't even a man's problem; it's a young Indian person's problem. I have two female cousins who hit 30, panicked about being unmarried, and married some jerk from a matrimonial site without spending much time getting to know the dude at all. Roundly lied to, they were, and beaten up by husbands who only saw them as some cash cow, now in divorce court. I feel bad for them- but also what did they expect? how could they be so stupid?
Arranged marriage used to work because your families knew each other; hell you probably knew each other a little, given you lived in the same communities. There was a whole host of people vouching for your bride/groom and a whole community to help you keep your marriage together. It doesn't work anymore because by moving to the internet, all the good things about arranged marriage have gone away, and only our basest instincts are catered to - the ways in which people are superficial, selfish, mean, and deceptive.
But anyway, Raja beta wants a wife, so he buys one on the internet. Raja beta finds that that was a terrible choice to make because- it's the internet, and she's a stranger, and a real person who isn't some bangmaid of your fantasies. And immediately wants out of the marriage with no consequences. Finds out life isn't all that easy. He threatens suicide in court (who does that?) He then goes on to commit suicide, but not before publicly airing his grievances through a 24-page rambling note and an 80-minute video, in which he tags Elon Musk. Honestly, it's the entitlement of it that is striking.
And the lack of mettle. I've known plenty of people who have been dragged through courts in false/ frivolous litigation- they all get to the point where they think, "If someone sues me for money I don't have, no court can actually make me pay them- because I do not have it" and they move on and live their lives.
And I really doubt there wasnt any dowry harassment. It is hard to get police complaints registered, especially domestic violence. The police here did an investigation and found reason enough to charge, and a magistrate signed off on the charge sheet. It would be very difficult to get that far along in the legal process by bribing people alone; there are too many people involved for a real conspiracy.
So Raja Beta doesn't really want to face any consequences for any of his actions and takes a way out.
Idiots and misogynists on the internet make this guy into some sort of martyr and tell men in healthy relationships with long-term girlfriends they shouldn't get married because all women are evil. And at the same time want to bring back dowry and roll back laws that protect women who are burnt in their homes in "accidental kitchen fires" and beaten black and blue and raped. Because these guys don't want a world where everyone is safe or protected. They want a world where they can do what they want and not face any consequences. And this is why the "men's rights movement" is not really a movement—labour is a movement; MRAs are just frustrated middle-class/wealthy men on the internet who can't actually name any rights they don't have—they just don't want women to be protected by the law.
