This is most stupid thing to say mca is most hyped cell of the college I myself tried to be part of the organisation since done a lot to be part of mca but I was not that fortunate, for mca whole batch gives interview and smartest people get in.

Second reason for mca people getting good rank in freshers pool could be that because mca is cell with lot of work related to reviewing and conducting regular open challenge inside college but it is always short with no. Of people so people from 1st year get ample amount of time to learn from being either court cleark. And other than that when who are in close community with the best mooters of college then it really helps.

Guys don't Panic you are new I can say Nliu is pretty fair in these aspects.

Am I? If that’s the case, then you are definitely someone who barely managed to get through to senior years based on his/her low IQ. To be fair, if you look at it, your finalists are not even in top 5, let alone top 3. You know who is tho? That one finalist who is in MCA. I can give you numerous examples. There were two teams in the semis, the one who lost was arguably better than the one who had THE MCA member from your holy reign. These are just two examples. Want me to continue? I have nothing against them, they might be really sweet people. But there are participants who deserve much better. MCA has been a shitfuckery and everyone knows it, I ain’t the OP but your centre or ‘association’ rather, is not even close to the other centres/cells that were mentioned above. So please take the blame and improve, a lot of college’s reputation depends on the MCA, amongst other aspects like publications and corporation. Be better.

And fyi, these seniors are really pissed with the results. Ask around. It won’t take much time.

How do you decide talent , there is no objective criteria rather than organising a competition, if you are so good, contest an OC and win, people who are actually good don't cry over such events, because they perform well and get good ranks, on the other hand when someone is incompetent, they blame the OC for the loss. Lol get a life or you'll lose every other competition here. Competition is very fierce.

TMT is an interesting practice area but long hours is the norm across all good TMT teams - TRILEGAL, KHAITAN, INDUS all have long working hours. Since it is advisory work partners take up more mandates to reach their targets and hence maintain the bonuses. You will have to choose between mundane work or an interesting arena where you get to learn up new things in an upcoming field.

Are any of the TMT teams worth it in reference to money. Most TMT teams do bulk of advisory work with long working hours. Is the money earned in these teams any good or is corporate better given that you are anyway working long hours - at least you get to earn more?

Please advise. Need to choose between gen corp or TMT practice.

I don't know why we need such elaborate campuses. The building should just contain classrooms, faculty offices and admin offices. There should be a library. (this can all be one multi story building). Let students figure out accommodation themselves and commute to campus. We can also solve the ragging problem this way.

For me, the most shocking stat is this -- the per capita GSP drops from the current USD 2400 (around Bangladesh level) to USD 1,900 (around sub-Saharan African level) if you hit the top 1%. And I guess if you exclude the top 5% we will probably rank close to last in the world???!!! So I blame Nirmala Sitharaman for the recent drop. I've always wondered, how are law firms srtuctured? I guess an LLP makes sense given easier complaince minus unlimited liability which is what one of the XAMs is. But then, what exactly does making "partner" mean. Is it only a notional title or is there real profit sharing?

It appears that an actual "equity" partner is inly a member of the family and the rest of them are only partners nominally and not a part of the partnership agreement. Is that an accurate characterisation? Are they merely employees? Is there a difference between equity partners and the rest?

Also, how do "employees" (i.e., associates, for instance) pay Income Tax? Do they pay tax as professionals and do they have to do the whole advance tax rigmarole? So are they not then employees per se? Will non-legal roles like HR in a law firm be on a different pedestal where they will be employees instead?

Do Corp law firm associates thrn file tax in exactly the same way that an advocate would? Would they get PF?

Hi, I am about to graduate from law school and looking for a career in trade law. Eventually i want to go for masters. Now, looking for options. Either Law Firm or any policy place. I have heard that CTIL is a great place for policy, build CV and apply for LLM. Some long back thread on LegallyIndia stated that its great place to work at. Any views ?

JSA is very top heavy now, most EP's or RP's rake in huge numbers while associates get paid way less. Their fixed is really really low and the 8% is very situational. 8% depends upon your teams billing, your hours (which would be cut if they dont like you), the deals that year and their invoicing. The 8% also is a sham, to an extent, because 8% of what you have billed will always be lesser than your hours posted on your timesheets, so it comes to roughly about 1.25 to 2.5LPA. The WLB is also not always great, in slower months, its good otherwise its just bad like any other place. Unless your team is good and they really like you, you will not be matching T1 pay. Only a handful of teams have that pull and even inside those teams, there is discrepancy in work allotment. The work culture isnt also that great, its not toxic as in people wont micromanage or shout or have unreasonable expectations, but it still has politics, groupism, insider-outsiders, and generally also, the work quality is very very very partner determined. So, take it as a grain of salt. JSA is good for two kinds of people, (1) people who have been in T1s but have toxic or dead teams, (2) counsels and partners who are not doing well in T1s. For associate level, not really worth it, unless your main issue is toxicity in your team.

I am considering quitting my current job as I am unable to continue in this environment. I have interviewed at 2-3 places but have not received any responses yet. please suggest what steps I can take to improve my chances or explore better opportunities as I cannot survive here.
